I am running logic pro 9.1.8 on osx 10.8.4 and I am having issues with Logic crashing when I bounce tracks. If the Logic file has very few plugins (e.g. when I am mastering a track) it bounces fine but when the Logic file is complex (e.g. when I am bouncing an original song or a track within an original) then Logic bounces the audio then freezes at the end and I have to force quit the application. This seems related to performance but it is a recent issue (has not always happened with this computer) that was not fixed in the last osx update. I have searched for a solution to this issue but all of the related answers are out of date.

If it does then it is one of the plugins you are using that is likely causing the crash so switch back to Offline bouncing and remove each FX plugin or Software instrument and bounce again until you find the cause of the crash....

1. Songs is being bounced up to one and the same moment in it, then the sound just stops. But not the bouncing!!! If to bounce not from the very beginning of the song, it goes smoothly through this moment, if just to let it play it comes through too. And it's not just shutting up, it turns the audio off, completely. After I cancel bouncing (or it finishes but itself) I can't play any files on my computer unless I reinitialize audio in Logic by playing the session or by quitting Logic. Does not depends on interface, it happens with my Line6 UX2 and built-in as well. No engine overload message. No automation changes in the Moment.

4. Only when I leave drums track alone (removing other 20) it bounces through. I tried to remove tracks one by one, but didn't figure out which one is the cause of the shut: sometimes it went through without vocals and guitars, and I thought this was the source of the problem, but when trying to bounce only vocals and guitars - it went through again.

The problem was in MIDI region in the Moment, drums. Veeeery strange, but without this region it did the bounce. And newly created one region instead of old one is bounced with no surprises. Plugin: Toontrack Superior Drummer 2.1.

Whenever I bounce, the exported file's volume becomes very low than what is heard in the actual Logic recording mix. I understand that the 'Normalize' feature in bouncing adjusts and equalizes the audio to not go over the meter. However, all I want is to bounce at full volume regardless if there are any cracks and pops or over-registered audio in the mix.

Turning off 'Normalize' results in the bounced audio file to sound too distorted and cracks/pops at certain times, which you wouldn't hear before bouncing (in the Logic mix while playing everything back, the audio doesn't crack/pop and sound distorted).

I just want to bounce at the volume and sound I hear while playing back in the Logic mix without having the volume extremely lowered or horrible pops/cracks and distortion when turning off 'normalize'.

Thanks for the clear info David. Clearly, I'm no pro.. far from it actually! I have to read up and do more research on mastering cause I thought that the mastering WAS done during the mixing (when everything has been recorded and not even bounced yet).

What I have done so far was adjust the master volume lower, bounced that and am currently mastering that bounced track. I can 'normalize' it to reach it's fullest volume levels and work on the file from there.

Putting limiters on things is the wrong approach for taming volume. That's because the limiters are going to change the sound of every track that you bounce with a limiter on it. Unless you want your tracks (or your mix) to sound limited, don't use limiters. Lower the levels of your tracks instead.
