"Salute" is a song recorded by British girl group Little Mix for their second studio album of the same name (2013). It was released on 2 May 2014 as the album's third and final single. It was co-written by the group (Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson and Jade Thirlwall) alongside TMS (Thomas Barnes, Peter Kelleher and Ben Kohn) and Maegan Cottone, and produced by TMS. Lyrically, "Salute" is described as a girl-power song, with military metaphors and war sirens, drawing comparisons to Destiny's Child and Beyonc's "Run the World (Girls)".

Music critics gave the song positive reviews, praising it for its empowering lyrics and military-inspired drum beats. Some even noticed it would fit perfectly as an opening song for the tour, as well as being one of the most elite tracks of 2013.[citation needed] The song became a top-ten hit in Scotland and United Kingdom, becoming the group's sixth top-ten single in the UK, while reaching the top-twenty in Ireland. To promote the song, the group performed for many TV shows, including Britain's Got Talent and on the Today show.

"Salute" debuted at number 74 on the UK Singles Chart week of 11 May 2014,[25] becoming the "greatest gainer" the following week, climbing to number 51.[26] It cracked the top-forty in its third week, climbing to number 35.[27] After falling to number 40, the song climbed once again to number 24.[28] The song peaked at number 6 the following week, on 21 June 2014,[29] becoming the band's sixth top-ten single.[30]

Little Mix performed "Salute" live for the first time on Britain's Got Talent.[33] They also performed the song on the Today Show on 18 June 2014[34] and during their set at the Summertime Ball on 21 June 2014.[35]

I was cynical at first to listen to another half ass attempt by the music industry to produce what they think the market needs, "Salute" by X-Factor champions Little Mix wasn't entirely what I expected. With an obvious early 2000s influence and attitudes that match that of the early urban pop movement, their essence is that of "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child and Christina's one powerful body image song. What surprises me about these lasses from England is that their debut singles, their image and the whole persona is about strength in women. Call them, Beyonce for tweens. Their album title song "Salute" is a power stance against men thinking they are "just pretty things". "If you're a woman, let me see your hands up SALUTE". Keeping in mind that the target age group for Little Mix is that of One Direction, they have done a pretty good job of installing positive and strong female ideologies at a young age.

Though the album rings true of a pop album it doesn't victimize women or ridicule stereotypes and nor does it cater to the sex sells, talent doesn't side of music. "Salute" embraces differences and speaks of inner strength, "Little Me" being the prime point of difference in pop music. The song speaks to their younger selves and tells them to "Speak up, shout out, talk a bit louder, be a bit prouder". "Little Me" takes "Roar" by Katy Perry, shakes it and says, "Let me show you how to flatter your fellow women".

Don't let the stomp, fight, roar attitude trick you though. There is some questionable songs on there "See Me Now" was kind of just to back up the fact that they are ass kicking ladies but has a misplaced ethnicity appreciation through it that lacks any sense. "Towers" tries to communicate a really odd analogy that doesn't pack any punch at all. "They Don't Know You" is a weirdly serious song about justifying a partner to a non accepting family.

I was rewatching raiders of the lost ark after maybe 20 years. At the scene where monkey gave nazi salute, there is an Arabic song playing as background music. There is a Turkish song with same music (which is very common between arabic, turkish and greek during 60s and 70s). So I found the name of the arabic version which is "Jirane Halla Halla" but I couldn't find the performer. Maybe song had a different name back then because It is a folk song and have different names in Turkish. Does anybody know what is the version played in this scene?

America: A 200-Year Salute in Story and Song is a concept album and the 40th overall album by country singer Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in 1972 (see 1972 in music). As its title suggests, it comprises a number of tracks dedicated to the topic of American history, like several of Cash's other Americana albums. The record is a mix of songs and narration, in which Cash attempts to describe elements of the country's past, including famous personalities like Paul Revere or Big Foot. America also includes a re-recording of "Mr. Garfield" and "The Road to Kaintuck", songs previously released as singles in 1965 on Sings the Ballads of the True West. Most of the tracks on the album were written by Cash, with some exceptions, including a rendition of the well-known song "The Battle of New Orleans" and a reading of Abraham Lincoln's famous Gettysburg Address. The album was included on the Bear Family box set Come Along and Ride This Train.

In any case the BTS song that is perfect for a drum corps is Fire! Believe me, I have thought about this more than I ever should. The whole first verse shows off the stationary percussion, the xylophones, etc. Prechorus is perfect for fast moving formations. Plutonium, freeze in place, horns up. In the chorus, comes the horns in full! That main synth sliding line is perfect for trombones, that electronic woo-eep woo-eep line, call and response with the trumpets doing the sung ay ay-oh-ay-oh. Second verse tubas! Hey, turn it up. Pre-drop moving spinning formations. The big full out drop, this time with feeling, bring out every single big drum they got, shear cacophony from the field. Sweet baby hey zeus it would be awesome.

This sounds like a Blackpink x Ateez mashup. Come and get me, Come and get it.

And then, one more time with feeling! The song is like the fencing robot: off its mark. Alright OK its not terrible (for me), its just at this point typical, meets expectations, which means I am not buying it.

A song called Tank Park Salute by Billy Bragg helped me through a difficult time more than I could ever express in this short post and when feeling low one night, I emailed the organisers of the Glastonbury Festival advising that it would mean the world to me if Billy Bragg could sing the song as a tribute to my little girl on Sunday night when he was performing in the Leftfield tent at the festival.

Thanks for sharing this touching story. The song holds a special meaning for me as well and I tear up a bit when ever it plays. I sincerely hope the memories of your beautiful child remain strong while the sadness fades.

Thanks so much for taking the time to comment. There is so much bad news everywhere we look, but that moment proved to me that there are more good people than bad in this world. Also how the Eavis family and those that run the Glastonbury festival ensure that the beating heart of what they created always remains. All these years later, the pain of losing my little girl is still very real and I still find comfort in listening to that song. Take care my friend.

The song was followed by chart topping "I Got 5 on It" by Luniz, a cult classic which received a secondary wave of prominence by Jordan Peele who remixed the song for his film Us. However, it was the performances by The Lady of Rage and Yo-Yo that served as an educational lesson for those who forget about the contributions of women to the growth of the West Coast sound in hip-hop.

While The Washington Post and British newspaper The Guardian reported that some political observers pointed out the one-finger salute resembled another salute that the Nazis used, NBC News reporter Ben Collins and The New York Times reported that the salute was probably in reference to the QAnon song.

"Supporters were urged to hold up their right hands in a unified salute that should shock the conscience of every American for its remarkable similarity to the "Heil Hitler" salute used by the Nazis," Kaplan said. "I talk a lot about the importance of learning the history of the Holocaust -- so that we don't repeat history's darkest chapter ever again -- and the horrifying images from these events remind us that we have a lot more work to do yet."

I love this song so much! Definitely my favourite of many great Billy Bragg tunes. The piano is haunting, but its sparseness stops it from being overwrought. Great song, near perfect sentiment. Great blog on it too!

The two-hour event also included live appearances and song introductions by John Stamos, Jimmy Jam, Drew Carey, and Harvey Mason Jr. (the head of the Recording Academy), Tom Hanks, Bruce Springsteen, and Elton John supplied taped testimonials.

A school in central Russia has been filmed instructing its pupils to perform a raised right arm and clenched fist gesture that some have likened to a Nazi salute, independent student news outlet DOXA reported.

This song and video brought tears to my eyes; so moving and so on point for here and now.

May Hashem bless these young and not so young chayalim to do what they have to to protect klal yisrael and come back to thier families.

The Salute to Services segment of the concert, performed just prior to the address by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is an annual tradition to honor and salute the men and women who are serving or have served in the six official branches of our armed forces and their families. National Memorial Day Concert founder and producer Jerry Colbert commissioned American composer Henry Mancini to create a medley arrangement incorporating the service song of each official branch of the armed services.

1st Sgt. Javier Duarte says marines learn the song in boot camp. "Over extensive training and discipline given by the drill instructors, the marine recruits will always learn the marines hymn. All three stanza's, they will learn every single word verbatim, and they will talk and sing it at the same time" says Duarte. 2351a5e196
