I recently purchased a Gibson Studio. I will admit it is VERY new, it was built on Jan 8 2008 according to the serial number. I can't get over the stickiness of the neck. I wash my hands and dry them and I have to wipe the back of the neck down several times, when I play. I also own a 1990 ES 335 also with an ebony back on the neck, and it has the same issues to a lesser degree.

Enjoy the new guitar, i haven't personally experienced the sticky neck, and i bought several new gibsons over the last few years, rh fusion iii, bb king, R6, 356, i list them because i am really not sure of the finish on them, i think nitro, certainly on the r6, 356 the others i am not sure.

Ya know, it's weird, my 2007 doesn't have that problem, although when you pop the case, you can smell the lacquer, now my 2006 SG, that one had a sticky neck, washing my hands with dishsoap seemed to help a little, as it takes ALL the oils out of your skin. Acetone works really well for the same thing, but I'm thinkin' you wouldn't wanna use that stuff regularly.

I had the sticky lacquer problem with a Custon Shop guitar from California.... What I did was rub back of the neck out with Mothers Aluminum and Mag Polish (originally bought to polish parts of my motorcycle). Over the years I have found many household type items that will do anything the expensive guitar boutique products will, at a fraction of the cost.

Anyway, the idea was to gently remove the top sticky layer to get down to the hard cured finish. Mother's Polish is made for aluminum and chrome, and if it won't scratch that, it won't scratch lacquer. It's a paste polish that has a very, very fine grit to it. I rubbed on the neck for an hour or so, and it took away the sticky layer, and polished the neck to a very smooth and hard finish. Problem solved.

the trick to it is( beside my magic touch) just running the sandpaper SOO lightly along the neck, really if you see a fine dust then you are doing it right, i havent done this to my strat, my doubleneck, or the bfg that i traded for my marshall jcm 800 2210

As far as sanding the neck, it took me months to get up enough nerve to put sandpaper bo my 68 Camaro but after wet sanding and buffing it absoluted shines. But as I said I used 1500, and 2000. Maybe some 1000 steel wool might do it. I had someone else mention that on another forum.

I use 2000 Grit paper on my muscle cars to buff the clear. I wouldn't even put 220 grit in the same room as my guitars. How do you get the scratches out of the neck. That is really coarse sandpaper![/quote']

Ive used fine steel wool to do the same thing a couple of light stroke and smooth as glass the only guitar neck Ive ever really sanded was a Rickenbacker they sound great but they look like they are finished in marine varnish or something

Wheeew! You had me scared there for a while. That 220 would have put your guitars in the relic class real quick. When I saw your post I was thinking I wanted to fix a sticky neck not change the profile! LOL

I stopped using the Gibson pump polish and I wipe down the neck with a light solution of windex and water, and it seems to be a little better. I tried my 335 last night and it is less sticky but does have the problem. I used the same thing on it and I think it will work.

It will take a few hours of playing but once the Pump Polish has gone from the neck it will feel free and smooth. Dont wipe it down with any solution just a clean polishing cloth to get your sweat/ fingerprints off..

I would suggest that you apply naphtha (lighter fluid) to a clean cotton cloth and rub this on the neck of the guitar. Sometimes this will produce a cloudy or hazy appearance but, if you will follow up by polishing it with Gibson guitar polish, it will shine it properly. This is the method used by our repair facility and it is imperative that naphtha is the only liquid used as any other type of solvent can damage or destroy your finish.

I am working through it and all I am doing is wiping it down after, and during my practice sessions. I make sure I have clean hands and I am not using anything on it now. I have a 1990 ES335 in the Ebony finish. That is the finish on the back of my Studio and I still get that from the ES335. The Studio has a born date of Jan 2008 so it is a little young. I see a lot of older Gibsons with most of the finish off the neck. There must be a reason for it. I have 15 guitars and two of them have this problem. Both Gibson's . I guess it is just a "thing" that Gibson owners live with.

Chronic neck pains are a common factor among people especially those who work in front of a desktop/laptop. Some of the common medications recommended by the neck pain specialist are medications, heating pads, and ice treatment. These treatments will not provide the same result as usual. To keep you fit and fine, we have some tips for you. These tips will be conducive for you when you will feel the neck pain again.

A good neck supporting chair will help your spine keep balanced while reducing the pain. Besides that, a headrest will keep your cervical spine in a position that is neutral. With your shoulders, keep your back comfortably against the headrest. You can use a standing desk when you are using the computer. This will help you to stay in a natural position.

Swimming helps you with your back pain by adding buoyancy to your spine. If you are feeling persisting pain in your back, then you should consult with a neck and back doctor near you. The doctor will advise you what swim strokes you need to avoid and what you can actually practice.

Some of the people found that swimming is causing strain on their neck. They can go for water therapy, which is the gentle exercise itself. It can be practiced in a warm swimming pool as suggested by neck pain specialist.

As opined by a neck pain specialists of OKC, doing meditation will help to ease the stress. Not only that, but it will also help you to bring a new perspective to your upcoming work. You can practice mindful meditation including breathing exercises. Move your neck in 360-degree rotation and float off your fingers.

If you undergo cognitive behavioural therapy, it will help you by teaching new ways about thinking about your challenges. The more you will follow the positive, the more you will be responsive to follow the treatment plan for your neck.

In our modern day world where we find ourselves increasingly commuting longer distances by car to spend days rooted to a desk or computer, followed by a return commute, afternoon driving kids to practices and attending meetings, and an evening on the couch in the company of televisions, tablets, and smartphones, it is not a mystery why our backs may feel tight. And, more importantly, why the best treatment may not be stretching.

Prior to commencing back strengthening, it is important to reiterate that, as spinal stabilizers, back muscles have a primary endurance role, acting to support the spine in vertical throughout the day. Therefore, they must be trained according to their function and progressed first according to time and repetition, then resistance. Back pain should not result from performance of an exercise.

Equally, if not more importantly, abdominal strengthening is an essential component in back pain treatment. As the opposing muscle group, these muscles act as spinal stabilizers supporting the front of the spine. In addition, the abdominals protect the back from excessive load and repetitive micro trauma. Similar to the back muscles, the abdominals should be strengthened according to their role as stabilizers and progression on time and repetition before resistance is best. Back pain should not result from performance of an exercise.

A further consequence of our sedentary lifestyle, lower extremity muscle tightness, is also a component comprising an effective back rehabilitation program as these muscles have attachments on the spine and pelvis and therefore influence spinal position. Muscles prone to tightness (and those correlated with low back pain) include the hamstrings, hip flexors, and quadriceps.

The final requirement of a comprehensive back program, and the reason you chose to read this article, a few beneficial back stretches to incorporate. All stretches should be performed two times on both sides and held for 30-40 seconds in a comfortable range.

With knowledge that a truly effective back rehabilitation program involves more than back stretching, and is incomplete without back and abdominal strengthening and lower extremity stretching, you may discover back stretching is no longer as paramount.

Keeping them fed is easier said than done. Despite continually having a larger area to explore and more potential food sources and scents to scout, the further I progressed, the food seemed scarcer somehow. Your choices matter and could lead to a nice meal or empty stomachs. Depending on the path you choose to take each night, you might encounter some food, a trap, or a human that snaps your neck. Scavenging in the trash could feed your cubs or result in you getting a plastic bag stuck over your head, threatening to suffocate you. When hunting prey, timing your pounce right could be the difference between saving your cubs from starving or not. 17dc91bb1f
