This is intended as a guide to help people trying to download high quality 4K HDR movies for home theater use. As an active member of r/hometheater I am very interested in getting the best quality audio and video out of my movies. I want to share my experience of building up a 4k HDR movie collection. My TV supports 4K HDR and I have a 3.1 dedicated sound system. With this in mind, all my files have 7.1 lossless audio in either DTS:HD or Dolby TrueHD. Stereo files will be much smaller. This guide might seem basic to those familiar with codecs and remuxes but hopefully this can help some beginners looking to get better quality video for home theater systems.

The issue is when you go to a torrent site and search for 4k movies, there are a ton of options. File sizes range from 2GB to 80GB, so what do you choose? What is a good compromise when it comes to file size and quality?

When looking at compressed movies, it is actually the bit rate that is more important than file size. When looking at bit rate it is important to keep things in context. Netflix caps out 4K streams around 15 Mbps. Disney Plus uses around 18 Mbps average. Any bit rates above this will generally be better quality than streaming.

The Shining (IAMABLE) - 46.5 GB file size with 46.5 Mbps - This is an example of a well compressed UHD disc. I struggle to see or hear any compression or artifacts with this compression. Personally I do not see a quality difference compared to REMUX files. I feel that picking 4K movies in this file size and bit rate is a good solution with very little compromise.

Alita Battle Angel (JustWatch) - 17 GB file with 20 Mbps - This is a more common file size and bit rate that I have found with 4K movies. Comparing it to the HBO streaming copy, this file has HDR which set its apart immediately. Again, the audio seems to be louder overall with better LFE. Even with this smaller file size and lower bit rate, this is still a step up from streaming. This is getting close to the bit rate of streaming services so if you are looking for better quality that streaming, I would not look at files much smaller than this.

TL;DR: If you want 4K movie quality better than streaming, aim for around 20 Mbps or higher bit rate. Stay away from any movie files below 15 GB. Aim for Remux files when possible or practical. The difference between 15 GB and 80 GB files is small but noticeable. I find 4K movies between 30 GB and 50 GB to be a good compromise if bass extension is not important.

I have some problem in deciding which is better quality. I started downloading 1080p movies for the past six months. Before that i only watched 720p movies/series. It looked crystal clear for me at that time. After i got my own laptop i wondered if 1080p videos are better than 720p videos. And as you know it looked wonderful. I downloaded from pahe for the past year and i was satisfied by their work. The quality is not that bad and i dont need more than 3gb data to download a movie. Later i wanted better quality movie because i once saw a 4k movie in a 4k screen and it looked phenomenal. I downloaded 4k (Ripped from bluray) which is around 2 gb for 1 hour and it looked awful. I understood that i need to spend more data to get that best 4k experience because my brother downloaded 4k movie for 40gb and that looked good. So, i started to search for 1080p movies for more than 5gb. I found QxR and UTRcorp and both had variety of movies for 5-12gb and it looked as i expected. they release 10bit 1080p ripped from 25gb bluray movie for 10gb.

But later i found that i can download that source for their movies from snahp. they have 1080p movies for 25-35gb and 4k movies for 60-90gb. I thought that is the best source which you can get so i wanted to download a favorite movie to check that and i downloaded joker movie for 20.8gb. It was the best 1080p video i ever watched. i wanted to check how much better it is from the ripped movie. I checked with UTRcorp's joker upload which is 1080p 10bit depth rippes from 1080p bluray around the same size i downloaded and i was pretty much disappointed for my download.

Now i am pretty confused in deciding which one to download. I haven't played this video on a 1080p screen. i am only seeing this on my laptop which does not have a great display. I haven't downloaded and checked UTRcorp release.But i don't see how EPSiLON release is better then UTR's release. I thought that bluray rips have major loss in quality due to lossy compression but i can know for sure. I just want to know if the ripped bluray releases (From QxR and UTRcorp) are actually similar (or atleast 99%) to their source (Uncompressed bluray). Please clarify this to me if you can. Also another question. What is your preference size for 1080p or 4k movies? it's 20gb for 1080p and 50gb-60gb for 4k movies for me. What do you prefer and how much size is enough for a laptop or a tv for 1080p and 4k?

Like I only download old English-Hindi Dual audio dub movies from there, can there be a possibility that the crypto drama virus spread to every single torrent files available in 1337 website? Idk how it works but just a question.

So, I have successfully managed to pirate stuff on my windows laptop, and I have found a way to get the pirated movies and shows on my iPhone. Now the problem is that even if I download something in HDR, it does not play in HDR in my iPhone (using VLC player).

So my previous post regarding how I'm currently much happier using Plex and a seedbox as my main streaming platform for movies/tv shows, I decided to write a guide that's easy to follow, from the first step all the way to the end result - which should have a simple but sort of automated setup and a flow which should look something like:

Plex. This is where all of your downloaded media which was obtained through torrenting or downloading via usenet will be scanned and organised in a very Netflix-like manner, complete with metadata and any other information about the movies/tv shows and even their individual episode summaries will appear as well. This is also where you watch all of your downloaded content. (NOTE: you'll need Plex pass to have more features like Skip Intro/Credits, unlock video playback time limit on the mobile apps. The subscription is worth it imo).

Overseer. This is the program where you are able to scroll through various lists of trending movies/TV shows in a very nice UI, with many different filters like streaming platforms or ratings/user score. This is also where you request for the Movies/TV shows that you want to watch.

qBittorrent. If you've browsed through this subreddit or anywhere else related to piracy and torrents, then this program needs no further explaining. I'll explain it to you though: this is the thing you need to actually download the files from the torrent sites or those links called magnet links.

Test, and add server, then click on Finish Setup. You'll be redirected to the Overseer homepage, where you'll be able to find for movies/TV shows, use filters like streaming platforms, ratings, etc and request for them to be downloaded.

And that's it! If you've followed through these steps above properly, the whole thing should be set up properly without issues. Go give it a try and request for some shows or movies! I hope this guides works for everyone and if there are any recommendations do leave them in the comments and help each other out. But ultimately, this guide is for my fellow beginner pirates.

This is a guide for people who don't know how to check the quality of a movie before downloading it and how to download it from torrents. I was not able to find any posts like this on reddit when I was a beginner, so now I have made it. This is a practical, real-life guide, therefore everything might not sound "theoretically" correct.

Seeders: This term refers to users who have the complete file and are sharing it. For high-speed downloading, the number of seeders should be greater, but I have downloaded movies with seeders as low as 2 or 3, but fewer seeders means less speed and reliability.

A good quality HD movie will have at least a bitrate of 2500 kbps. A better quality HD movie will have a bitrate in the range of 3500-5000 kbps etc. A better quality FHD will have a bitrate in the range of 7000 kbps etc. There is no fixed rule, just what I have observed while downloading movies.

Dolby Digital/AC3: The most common multi-channel format is Dolby Digital/AC3. It handles at most six channels (5.1). It's widely used in streaming services. The 6 channel 5.1 format means that it uses 5 speakers and one subwoofer to play audio. If you watch movies in a home theatre and have a couple of speakers, then it's good for you. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense if you use headphones for watching movies on a laptop, but still, this is popular and most probably the one you will find.

not a complaint, just curious how it takes months and months for this to happen. think about it: thousands of theaters all over the world get access to digital files of the biggest movies that millions and millions are gonna watch, and somehow nobody ever leaks them? yes, it happened with oppenheimer, but only like 4+ months after it came out.

I download movies mostly from 1337x, torrentGalaxy and kickasstorrent. I manage to find most movies in 4k but i cant find any remux's. Is it worth searching for different sites to find remux. I have heard they are pretty big files. Does it worth the extra space and where can i find them. 006ab0faaa
