Hi, in the tutorial he is using the rocks normals which are uneven, you are using a flat surface so you need to add a noise texture tag to brake the flat gradient line. you will need to experiment with the available textures to get the right results.

Before your Map Range node, add a MixRGB set to Overlay. Use a Noise, Musgrave, or Voronoi texture for input 2. Input 1 is your existing input from the Separate node. Play around with the settings until you get exactly what you want

Do you ever wander through the cold, winter woods, seeing only shades of brown, but then happen upon a lush, dense carpet of green moss that leaves you with a sense of awe? You wonder how a plant can be so green when the weather is so cold?! You wonder how such a miniature plant can be so hardy?!

The most impressive is physiological drought tolerance, known as poikilohydry. Mosses have few structural characteristics that would allow them to maintain correct water balance, unlike advanced plants. When conditions are dry, mosses simply dry up and become dormant until rehydrated. Another trick that gives them an advantage over winter-dormant plants is that during this cold season, as long as the temperatures are above freezing and the moss is hydrated, it will photosynthesize.

Want to bring a touch of nature into your home? Today I am sharing one of my all-time favorite DIYs. I created this textured piece of Wall Decor with leftover supplies I had on hand in less than an hour. Now that is my kind of DIY!

I sorted the different colors and textures of moss into piles. I then laid the moss into a pattern that I liked so that I knew where I wanted to glue everything once I began. If I had wanted a more exact pattern, I could have marked lines on the back of the frame to serve as a guide.

Be careful of the glue gun! You can quickly burn your fingers. Once I was happy with the placement of the glued moss, I took it outside and shook all the loose moss pieces free. If the moss falls off and exposes holes simply glue more pieces on.

It can be downright frustrating! Do your research on vendors. I got burned by purchasing sea moss from Amazon, so be careful. Not saying that all Amazon sellers are selling poor-quality sea moss, but do a bit of research.

It also makes an AMAZING face & hair mask! Try it!! Spread a thin layer over your face, and let it dry. Rinse with cool water, pat your face dry and follow with a moisturizer. (I use Hemp oil mixed with watermelon seed oil as my moisturizer.)

Sea moss gel will last about one month in the fridge (although you will read varying recommendations). I make mine in small batches monthly. You can freeze sea moss gel if you want to make a big batch and keep it fresh.

In this article we will compare the four different types of preserved moss, with the aim of helping you to make an informed decision when it comes to deciding what types of moss works best for you. The four types we will be discussing are:

The different types of preserved moss have uniquely different textures. The reindeer Moss has a soft and spongy feel to it, and some might even call it a velvet feel. Flat moss has a delicate and feathery texture. Ball moss, as the name suggests, are light, fluffy green balls, while hair moss is different again, with a fine, hairlike texture.

Preserved moss is fragrance-free and clean, requires zero maintenance and is for decorative purposes only. The moss is also fireproof. Often preserved mosses are glued to a fireproof plywood to create a decorative wall. Our supplier, Canopy, has done extensive testing and results for the four preserved mosses discussed in this article. All of them have "not inflammable" properties. Tests were conducted under French standard NF P 92-501, which is recognized internationally. Furthermore, the reindeer moss has European certification EN13501-1.

Like dried and preserved flowers, the quality of preserved moss is best maintained when they are kept out of direct sunlight to prevent the colour from fading. They should also be stored in a dry place, avoiding high humidity, as extreme environments could cause mould growth.

We hope this article helps you to make an informed decision on choosing the preserved Moss that works best for you. This design works for all skill levels and time schedules. Make the cake from scratch using one of our recipes, bake it from a mix or simply purchase a plain cake at your favorite bakery. Then decorate it with the edible moss!

In an effort to keep this project time boxed, I used store bought sugar cookie dough. Yes, a prepackaged log of cookie dough is transformed into our edible moss topper! If you have a great cookie recipe that you want to use, go for it. If you want to get this beauty made and decorated in less time, use premade dough and never look back.

Take one of your cookies and crush it into super fine crumbs. You can do this with the back of a spoon or by placing it into a sealed ziplock and crushing it with a rolling pin. Be sure to get the crumbs super fine.

Repeat this process to make additional batches of cookies. Vary your size and shape so that you have a good mix to use for decoration. You will have more than enough dough to experiment with a few batches to get the hang of the process.

Hi there, such a great tutorial. I bet you could get the crumb to stick by spritzing your cookies with some 50/50 corn syrup and water in a spray bottle. This would prevent crumbs from getting on your cake. ?

somewhere today I saw a bunny that looked like he was covered in moss, I wonder if they used this method by crushing the cookies and adhering to the bunny. Do you think that would worke if the bunny cake was covered in buttercream or Ganach ?

Thanks Lee Ann! I love the idea of a cake resting on moss. These cookies are kind of crisp, so I think the weight of a cake would probably crush it. But you could certainly place a bunch of smaller cookies around the base of a cake, which would create a similar look. Let us know if you give it a try!

I am going to make a fairy garden cake and have trying to figure how to make realistic moss as I want this cake to fool alot of doubting toms. I will try this and see if this will give the look I want without using fondant,Of which I do not like.
