Prospect Mail is an electron-based desktop app for Microsoft Outlook. While there are other applications like Freelook and outlook-for-linux which do the same job, Prospect Mail is the most up-to-date and actively maintained. Additionally, Microsoft has also launched its Outlook service as a web app that you can run directly from a web browser which is slightly less feature-rich compared to the native Outlook client.

I really doubt if Microsoft will ever build a linux version of outlook. Organisations still buy Windows licences so they can install the most commonly used Outlook email client, word and excel. If they release a linux version of these applications, people will stop buying Windows licences.

Do you use Microsoft 365? I use all the apps on my linux laptop in a browser. From outlook to powerpoint, they all work and flow well and almost feel like native apps. They do have a lot of whitespace so if you like a dense layout you might not like it, but i have been impressed with how well they all work as web apps.

When I stopped handling mail in outlook, I wanted to switch to thunderbird, but my mail PST folder covered ~15 years (using a lot more than just email syncing with my then ipaq cell phone), and I found evolution easier to import it. I've been using evolution every since.

Sorry for that I didn't realize this point. I tried to install and run it in my linux machine, it would only popup a window of the microsoft authentication , as you said, it's only available for microsoft/office 365 accounts.

I just use OWA from my linux laptop in Chrome. It works very well for when I don't want to boot my work laptop and don't want to bash out a response on my phone or try deleting a massive number of things from my phone.
