Can someone please elaborate on the specifics of using Tarma's slug abilities? I'm usually too stressed when I'm driving to notice if he does anything unusual... and I thought pressing the L (special) button sets the slugs to self-destruct...
Okay, so I figured out the "slug kick" move with Tarma: you have to get out of the slug to do it, otherwise pressing the L button will cause it to self-destruct. You get out of the slug by pressing down + jump. Then stand in the middle of the slug and press L+up+fire to either "recover" or "damage" the slug. The result does indeed seem to be random, but you can do it repeatedly and hope luck is on your side. It kills your time, but can help you hang on to the slugs longer, which is pretty cool...
