Heavy Young Heathens are American film, film trailer, and television composers, consisting of brothers Aron and Robert Mardo. They are known for their work composing and performing music for television series including Big Sky, Eastbound & Down, The Simpsons, The Righteous Gemstones, and Dead to Me. They have also composed music for films such as Halloween, Don Verdean, Rules Don't Apply, Yoga Hosers, and Masterminds. Heavy Young Heathens co-composed and perform "Being Evil Has a Price",[1] the main theme to the popular Netflix series Lucifer.[2] Most recently, Heavy Young Heathens composed and perform the original song "Psalm 28.7" for the first episode of The Righteous Gemstones second season. In the scene, Eric Andre and Jessica Lowe are seen performing the song in front of their Texas Megachurch congregation as Lyle and Lindy Lissons. [3]

In February 2022, the duo sued U.S. skating pair Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier and the network NBC for the alleged "unauthorized use" of their recording to the song "House of the Rising Sun" that they composed and was used for the trailer to the film The Magnificent Seven.[6]

The Marderosians claim that they agreed to step in and write a musical theme, in exchange for co-writer credits. They were also to receive an on-screen credit and retain all of the publishing rights to the composition should the track be accepted for the series, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed by the composers of the theme song, Robert and Aron Marderosian, in California. The two brothers also create music under the name Heavy Young Heathens and are also known as The Mardos.

The suit alleges that "Although all defendants acknowledge that [the composers] wrote and performed the 'Lucifer' main title theme, defendants Warner Bros. and NS Pictures have commercially used, broadcast and exploited the 'Lucifer' main title theme without any agreement with or license from Plaintiffs."

They allege that they "have made repeated good faith efforts to resolve this matter without the necessity of litigation, the defendants have taken an untenable and unsupported position that Plaintiffs' master recording and composition from which the Lucifer main title theme was taken are somehow owned by Warner Bros., and that Plaintiffs have no ownership interest or rights therein."

The official theme song for the TV show Lucifer on Fox. A snippet of it plays during the title sequence of every episode. The song is by Heavy Young Heathens, a duo that makes music mostly for TV and films. 006ab0faaa
