David Bruno was instrumental in the creation, launch and growth of the esports programming at Camden County College, with the primary focus of the esports programming always being centered on academics and the pathways to the workforce. Starting in 2020, Camden County College launched the Cougar Esports brand with three pillars of focus: intercollegiate competition, academics, and an esports arena experience. The Cougar Esports intercollegiate activities began in 2021, and has shown significant growth in each semester thereafter. Cougar Esports currently supports over 12 varsity league teams and over 100 students per academic year. Simultaneously to the development of the intercollegiate program, work commenced in 2021 regarding the creation of a brand-new two-year degree in "Esports Production", the first of its kind in the mid-Atlantic region. Working collaboratively with faculty and industry experts, the Esports Production AAS academic program was approved in Spring 2023, with the first cohort of students beginning in Fall 2023. Camden County College is also home to the Cougar Esports Arena, a state-of-the-art esports facility that serves as both an academic and intercollegiate space.
