then, much later I heard about this thing called commander. supposedly this format is more casual. My question really is. Is this format is fun if you don't plan on spending more than 100 dollars on it and playing with strangers?

I've been using Kagero for a while and recently researched T9 but didn't purchase it because I feel like T8 is the sweet spot. However I do want to get my hands on Shima and get 1 more commander level.

A group of players at my local shop attend a workshop I do to better them as EDH players and Magic players in general. One of my "students" asked if he could just pay me to make a deck for him. This isnt the first time someone has asked me to do this but its always felt a little weird/wrong. What are your thoughts on the matter?

Thats ultimately what I told him. I can guide him through and show him some stuff but ultimately edh in a weird way is about expression. You can tell a lot about people with the decks they build. Although the money did really seem nice

Just to provide some polarizing perspective. Personally, I think the process of deck building gets way too romanticized. A person is willing to pay you for a service. It's not like you're not writing his/her grandmother's eulogy because they are too lazy to, you're putting 99 cards together in order for someone to play a fun game with them. Hell as much as everyone wants to think their deck is their own special snowflake, 90% of every EDH thread is about how X,Y,Z card goes perfectly with such and such commander.

That's not to rain on anyone's day that enjoys deck building and wishes there was more variety and personalization in decks, but in the end it's either money in your pocket or they go out and give it to WotC/store by buying a preconstructed deck.

If you have someone build you a deck, I would imaging there is at least a little input coming from you about the style of deck, the goal of the deck, and the navigation of the deck. While you aren't the one min-maxing, you at least are the one deciding what you want your deck to do.

So, now that you know what can go wrong, what are the best ways to ensure your unit is postured for financial success? As a commander, it is important to be involved with increased awareness of budget activities during key times. This will allow you to communicate any unique financial situations or requirements early with CPTS, CONS, and JA.

First, be involved as a commander. As previously stated, there are too many tasks from numerous functional areas to lead within a unit, but prioritizing tasks within those functional areas is doable. From a budget standpoint, appoint a trusted NCO, junior officer, or civilian as your resource advisor. The resource advisor receives necessary training from CPTS and CONS and leads the tactical budget work of which you are ultimately responsible. Meet with your resource advisor monthly for effective communication, and include them in any reoccurring staff meetings.

Once again, commanders at all levels are task-saturated, with unit finances being just one of the duties they need to complete. There are legalities and complexities to navigate through, but functional experts are available to assist. Of course, this article is only a basic introduction to the financial complexities in order to give commanders and leaders at all levels a basic understanding of DoD budgets. Adhering to these ideas will not only keep you legal but also get the most out of scarce resources.

Unfortunately, as a child grows (as early as 6 or 7) they are already developing dangerous habits around money that can put them at great risk of overspending, drowning in debt, ending up in bankruptcy and all the relationship stresses that comes with money problems as an adult.

When this Lair was previewed, the world stopped. This is such an exciting drop from such an iconic Magic artist. Not only is the art drop-dead gorgeous, but this Lair also oozes value. Brainstorm is an iconic and highly playable classic that only increases in value when in foil. While Serra Angel is less playable, it still holds a special place in the hearts of the players. Progenitus was the original unachievable commander that still holds steady in its value, both in and out of foil.

As winter gets closer and the temperature dips, finding ways to save money on your energy bills becomes a top priority. One of the most effective ways is changing your thermostat settings to optimize energy usage without compromising comfort.

Overall, a good rule is the lower the temperature within your home and the less difference there is between the air inside your home and the exterior temperature, the more money you will save on heating.

When you arrive home, raise the temperature little by little. That will keep your heating system from running too hard, which could be the case if you raise the temperature on your thermostat very high right away.
