Once you've signed in, you can view your device photos mirrored in the app. Tap a photo to start editing. Lightroom automatically saves your edits internally, you can also save a copy back to your device, share and export your photos. You can even import multiple photos, search and organize them.

Opening the Lightroom app instantly gives access to edit your device's photos in the Gallery view. To view the Albums on your device, select the dropdown menu and select an album to populate the corresponding files to the Gallery view. You can select any photo to start editing. The edited photo will appear in the Lightroom view, and a Lightroom icon ( ) will appear in the top-left corner of the photo in the Gallery view.

Select the Lightroom tab to view all the photos you've already edited in Lightroom or synced from Lightroom desktop or Lightroom Classic. You can select the drop-down icon menu to view and select the Lightroom albums or Create new.

All Photos view for subscribed users is a collection of all your imported and edited photos across all Lightroom devices. For freemium users, it's a collection of all photos edited within the app. To access the All Photos view, select the Lightroom tab in the bottom panel of the screen and select All Photos from the drop-down icon menu.

The People View in Lightroom for mobile (Android) recognizes and groups photos of the same person in a cluster. You can easily browse through the photos of any particular person using the People View. The People View in Lightroom for mobile (Android) is disabled by default, for new users.

Select People from the Library view to navigate to the People View. In this view, you can access clusters of photos detected for a particular person. The total number of photos for each person is listed below the cover photo of the cluster.

You can now manually select and move photos from one people cluster to other if you feel any of the photos don't belong to that cluster. The move operation is valid for both named and unnamed clusters. Change of cluster is also reflected in the Info panel with updated People tag corresponding to the new destination cluster.

If you're a new user, the People view is disabled by default. When the People view feature is enabled, Lightroom for desktop (Mac and Windows) and Lightroom for mobile (iOS and Android) analyze photos in the cloud to create models of faces to group similar faces together. By enabling this feature, you're letting us know that it's okay for Adobe to create these models on your behalf and that you have approval from the individuals featured in your photos.

When you disable People view, all existing face model data is deleted from Lightroom servers. Existing groups of similar faces will remain showing in the People view, but Lightroom will stop analyzing your photos to find people and similar faces will no longer be automatically grouped together.

The Community view provides photos by fellow photography members. You can browse through different categories of photos and select them to view how the photo was edited, step-by-step. You can also save the edits as a preset.

Clearing the cache removes any cache files stored for offline use by the Lightroom for mobile (Android). However, the offline content of the albums that you've stored locally is not impacted. Clearing the cache doesn't delete any of your Lightroom photos.

Any photographer can benefit from a more advanced photo editing app once they grow frustrated by the limitations of the built-in tweaks in apps like Google Photos, Apple Photos, Instagram, or Facebook. A great editing app can save an otherwise beautiful photo that was severely underexposed, for example, or take a merely good photo and help you make it shine.

For past iterations of this review and for our most recent go-round, we loaded a sample photo in each editing app and experimented with it, getting a feel for the user experience and looking for any pain points. We took stock of what features were available to free users and what was paywalled, where and how ads were placed (if present), and how persistent (read: annoying) or subtle the apps were about trying to get you to upgrade.

If you like ads and nag screens, Pixlr (Android, iOS) is the photo editor for you. In addition to its spammy behavior, this app has an ugly user interface. It also fared poorly in our objective image-quality tests, and it produced much larger file sizes than the other apps we tested (more than twice as large in many cases).

Once a very popular iOS photo editor, Afterlight lags behind our top picks in the power of its image adjustments. When we attempted to lift shadows on underexposed photos, Afterlight simply produced a vintage-style fade that turned inky black areas gray instead of revealing hidden detail.

I've had the Adobe Lightroom app for Mobile and Tablets on my Android phone for a couple of years now and always liked editing my hobbyist photos with it. The interesting thing is, that after the initial 7 day trial the app was still functioning. I was still able to edit and color-correct my photos and save them in their original resolution on my phone. (Syncing and other pro-features were naturally disabled after the trial period expired.)

You aren't doing anything wrong. The apps are intended to work this way. Lightroom is a photo editor and a cloud service for your photos. You need an Adobe Creative Cloud subsciption to use Lightroom and all of it's cloud services on your computer. You can use the same subscription with Lightroom on a mobile device. The services are provided through the subscription, not the application itself. The Apple store and the Google store offer the Lightroom mobile app for free, or you can pay for a premium version. The free version does not include any of the cloud services. The premium mobile version includes some cloud storage, but I don't know how much. The premium mobile version is purchased from Apple or Google, not Adobe.

This combination provides fine control over tonality and color in specific regions of a photo to help you achieve the perfect look. Use this feature in a landscape photo that needs a specific part edited, for example, to bring out shadow detail, correct color, or add creative effects. Or refine a portrait by selectively adding warmth or brightening areas without impacting the overall exposure.

These can be used to explore your creative possibilities and allow you to experiment with color combinations and editing techniques. The presets achieve professional-looking results with the tap of a button and are a great time-saver, applying multiple adjustments to a photo at once instead of having to adjust each element manually.

It's only a minor thing but is a pet peeve: Lightroom works on both but on iOS you can share full quality photos to places like Flickr. This isn't an option on Android, which is rather annoying as I like to use Flickr as a backup for favourite photos.

I much prefer Samsung pens for photo editing in Lightroom. They feel nicer on the screen. I haven't used the new Apple Pencil, but the original is very hard, like metal on glass, tapping hard. The Samsung S Pen on devices like the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus feels far nicer, with gentle friction which feels more natural.

For me, Lightroom Mobile is the best app, with the 1TB monthly subscription. I no longer use a computer, only to help backup photos every couple of months to an extrnal hard drive. Although this could easily be done with a mobile device too. Besides the iOS HQ sharing benefit, it seems pretty equal in both operating systems.

I stumbled upon a video showing how the Lightroom app on a mobile device has the white balance eyedropper tool included within its "camera" function, but when I tried it out on my android smartphone (Galaxy Note 10+), it had all the white balance presets but the eyedropper tool was missing.

Can somebody confirm if the white balance eyedropper tool is only available on iOS devices? Which if it is, that would be a HUGE bummer considering it's such a basic WB function to be omitted just for android users.

Most other photo editing apps are messy, to be honest. Lightroom, since its inception, was not only planned to be an editing tool, but also a photo organization hub. The same applies to the mobile version, which neatly organizes photos in folders and albums.

One of the primary reasons why so many of us take photos is because we enjoy the entire process of creating and editing them. Expanding on that, we also enjoy sharing our edited photos. I've never taken a photo, edited it, and then said, "I'm keeping this one for myself and don't want anyone else to see it." It goes against everything I believe in as a photo educator and creative. That's why I'm happy to see Adobe add a new way to share your photos. Or rather, a new way to share the editing workflow you used to get it to its final state. The new feature is called Edit Replay, and it's available in the latest version of the Lightroom mobile app for iOS and Android.
