The main issue here is that Windows Update forces the driver to be updated at least to version 4534, which doesn't work as mention above. I've tried many workarounds to block WU to perform this update, like deactivate the drivers update or hide windows updates with the diag tool, without any success so far. At some stage, the driver is pushed again. I've posted recently on Lenovo forums ( -T400-T500-and-newer-T/T460s-Intel-display-driver-issue-Windows-10/m-p/3522443# M74001 Solved: Re: T460s Intel display driver issue Windows 10 - Lenovo Community ). It's marked as solved but the issue still occurs and as you can see in that post, we are several having the same problem.

FYI the drivers on your site or the lenovo drivers.. Same issue... Black screen. Pluggin to a docking station it work so u can reinstall the old one.. but sometime after that it's self updating again with the problem!

Anyone have any ideas what's up? Displayport 1.2 is enabled for both external monitors. I haven't been able to find anything I need to enable on the T460. Note that there is a driver for the monitor that I haven't installed as this is a work laptop and I can't install it, but the computer was able detect and display on the first monitor. I figured the driver wasn't completely necessary in this daisy chain format.

Use Advanced Driver Updater to repair the problem and update drivers. The program will automatically recognize your PC and will display the most recent and reliable driver updates. There are two versions of the product: a free version and a paid version.

Lenovo ThinkPad T460s drivers should be your first consideration when you encounter Lenovo ThinkPad T460s laptop issues. As one of the most popular T-series Ultrabooks of Lenovo receiving good reviews for vibrant display color and long battery endurance, Lenovo ThinkPad T460s is never free from computer problems, especially Lenovo ThinkPad T460s driver problems, such as Lenovo Ethernet not connecting, ThinkPad T460s display drivers crashes, ThinkPad T460s missing drivers, touchpad not working, etc.

Plus, problems like dim ThinkPad T460s screen, Lenovo T460s display not waking from sleep, Lenovo black screen, etc. also annoy the users, whose solutions are related to the Lenovo ThinkPad T460s drivers, too.

What changed? - I cant get the same driver version. Intel site doesnt go that 'old' for me compared to my 'good' laptop. What else changed? - device manager 'Generic PnP monitor' with 2006 year default drivers, this changed to 'widescreen something something something display.....'

I'm a few years ahead of you in this regard. I have probably bought and tested over 20 machines in the last 5 years. Unfortunately anything from eBay will probably have the latest BIOS flashed and could be a cause of strain. Out of all the machines I've tried only one machine was good, but its pre-2010 (Acer Aspire M3802: I bought the same model new in 2010 but upgraded to a Mac Mini in 2014 and sold it). All I can recommend is an Intel desktop (Clarkdale gen and previous). As for Laptops.. I have had good experiences with HD4000 laptops and a Toshiba Satellite (AMD) desktop from early 2010's. Oh and also, W10 isn't a viable option either. W7, an old (2010 and previous) desktop/laptop, ensuring the BIOS is as close to build date as possible, and the original display drivers for the machine should work well.

Before you give up on your laptop, try this driver version. My work T480 uses an Intel 620 GPU and the driver version in it is 12/27/2017 23.20.16.4905 and it seems to be usable on this particular hardware especially with the displayport to displayport or displayport to dvi output.

I tried using Windows 10 with the Microsoft display driver but I couldn't adjust the brightness and it gave me nausea. I haven't felt nausea like that since I used a Surface 3. I could try reinstalling and use the Intel drivers with ditherig.

My biggest success/temporary fix came from downloading and installing the lenovo recommended driver for windows 8.1(Intel Extreme Graphics Driver) which restored my screen it its full brightness for about 10 minutes before crushing my hoped by reverting back into darkness, of course I checked the settings again and removed/reinstalled the driver a few times and got similar results each time so I decided to seek out professional assistance if possible.

Problem is not in settings for brightness its actualy in driver settings for display , Just click right click and pick graphic setting , then u will find monitor looking icon there and u will see setting for colors , and under colors u should have 3 bars with light , contrast and gama ....those are actualy what makes your screen not so bright ;)

Hi David,

I plugged in a USB cable to my Thinkpad T460s and immediately screen went off. Later I came to know that USB cable was faulty.

Later I was able to start the system by press and hold Start button number of times, but the screen started flickering. I followed some online instructions also like uninstall and install display drivers but in vain.

if you can suggest the possible reason of screen flickering. ff782bc1db
