Has anyone found a reliable method to deploy the new version of quick assist to their users. I tried using Microsoft Store for Business to deploy, only a fraction of them actually got it and others are stuck in waiting for install status state. The ones that did install many of them are getting a message the webview2 is not installed. Thanks in advanced.

The original Remote Assistance is included on all releases of Windows 10 as well, but since the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, its Start menu shortcut is removed, effectively hiding it from the user. Instead, a new app called Quick Assist is added.[14] It has mostly the same functionality and a similar user interface with buttons called Get assistance and Give assistance. The design is like UWP apps. Unlike Remote Assistant, Quick Assist requires the support person to sign in using a Microsoft account before dispensing help.[15][16]

While Remote Assistance establishes a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connection to the end user's computer (requires TCP port 3389 to be opened on the client machine and the firewall/NAT/router behind which the machine is), Quick Assist is cloud-based and requires one outbound connection from the helper's PC to the cloud service/Microsoft server, and a separate connection from the cloud service to the machine of the person getting assistance. There are no ports opened on the client device's firewall.

Quick Assist is a Microsoft app that allows you to share your device with another person over a remote connection. It can remotely connect to a user's device and then view its display, make annotations, or take full control. With Quick Assist, your support team can easily diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues and instruct users directly on their devices. But since April 27, 2022, the remote assistance with Quick Assist has changed, and it will no longer be a built-in tool integrated into Windows 10/11. To keep your remote assistance sessions secure, you must download the new Quick Assist from the Microsoft Store, which will also be retired in the first quarter of 2023.

Quick Assist is an app in Windows 10 and Windows 11 that enables you to receive or provide assistance with your PC over a remote connection. The current built-in Quick Assist app is reaching end of service.

That's the gist of a Tuesday Microsoft Quick Assist announcement. Quick Assist lets two PC users provide remote help on computer issues. Quick Assist uses the Remote Desktop Protocol to let one PC user view and/or take control over another PC user's machine. All that's needed to use Quick Assist is an Internet connection and a Microsoft account for the persons providing the assistance, according to this Microsoft document description.

Microsoft announced the retiring of the integrated Quick Assist application of the Windows operating system in May 2022. Quick Assist is a remote assistance application, which may be used to get or give assistance. It is commonly used by technicians to provide remote assistance to an organization's workforce.

Administrators were not too happy with the change. Two main points of criticism were leveled at Microsoft. First, that the installation of the new Quick Assist required administrative privileges, and second, that one could not be sure anymore if Quick Assist was available on a user device. The latter required additional assistance to get the new version of the application on the user's device.

Remote Desktop is not available in Windows 10 Home. However, you dont need it. Since Windows 7, Windows has had a remote assistance tool built in. In Windows 10, Quick Assist is built in to all versions.

Quick assist was a cool windows out of the box tool that can get or provide PC support via a remote connection. Because Quick Assist is a pre-installed app in Windows, it can also be used to provide support during setup via e.g. Autopilot. The experience for the user was really easy. You have to only read out a 6 character code from the client and type in on the quick assist app on the supporter site.

But this will be changed quick assist will not be longer a build-in tool in windows. Microsoft posted on April 27, 2022 in the Windows Insider blog that Quick assist will only be available via the Windows Store in the future and that support for the old client will end. So, if you want to continue using Quick assist in the future, you will have to install it from the Windows Store.

However, there are several problems here. The first problem is that the installation of Quick assist from the Windows Store requires admin rights. This is not always the case in a professionally managed business environment where users also have admin rights on their PC. The second problem is that if you are using Windows LTSC there is no Windows Store to get quick assist from. And user getting a error messages about missing WebView2 runtimes.

We will installed Quick assist as offline version from the Windows Store for Business. Offline version does not mean that the app sources are downloaded and a new app must be created for each new version. We will activate the sync of Intune with the Windows Store for Business as a first step. Intune can always pull the latest version of quick assist from the store. As many have already noticed, the support of Windows Store for Business will end in 2023. Again, there is no reason to panic. Rudy Ooms has summarized very well in his blog what this means.

The change that Quick assist now has to be installed via the Windows Store causes some challenges as mentioned above. I hope I could explain you in this blog how you can manage these challenges. It was a great feature that it was possible to connect remotely to a device before it was even enrolled. This will no longer be possible in this way as Quick assist will be installed during enrollment. Nevertheless, it remains that quick assist is a very good tool to remotely support Windows PCs in a very simple way.

Quick Assist is a built-in remote desktop app in Windows 10 and Windows 11 which allows users to provide or receive technical assistance over a remote connection. It can be considered as an alternative to other 3rd party remote support apps such as TeamViewer, AnyDesk, etc.

Any Idea how to get this pushed out to peoples computers we were using this. When you go to Microsoft store it would prompt for Admin credentials to install but hitting X would still install it. This is no longer the case, now Admin is required. We are a small business with distributed people. They do not have admin access to their machines because we could connect via quick assist. But now they need Admin to install it.

Apple provides several methods for viewing and controlling the screen of another Mac via a network connection. For those who don't want to mess with system settings, the Messages chat app may be the most convenient option. Both Macs used for remote assistance require Apple ID accounts and must be logged into the Messages app.

Typically, Quick Assist is utilized to deliver remote assistance between Windows machines. However, consumers have often claimed that the issue with Quick Assist not working has caused them great harm. We suggest the free remote support software AnyViewer as a Quick Assist replacement.

The April 27, 2022 announcement Remote assistance with Quick Assist is changing is changing by Russell Mosier and Bianca Taylor on the Office Insider blog pretty much passed me by. But it's important for administrators.

The announcement of the change in strategy at Quick Assist can also be found in the Techcommunity post Remote assistance with Quick Assist is changing. Microsoft employee Nathan Pfeifer tries to sell the change under the heading "exciting news". This does not go down well with users or administrators. On May 2, one user writes:

How is this exciting news? This is a big problem for our company. The version of Quick Assist that came natively installed with Windows 10 was great because we could instantly provide assistance to anyone with Windows 10, regardless of whether it was their home computer or their work (domain-attached) computer. We could simply have them launch Quick assist and then give them a six-digit support code (Very simple).
