In my last post where I had a simulated fight with everyone minmaxing the Silvery Barbs spell, I received a variety of feedback ranging from it's not realistic to any party that specializes in one thing is obviously going to do it well.

Special thanks fellow players who helped me out, I ran a level 10 one shot with a party of 5 against an ancient silver dragon (just below the daily xp or 3x deadly). We were an artificer/bladesinger, life cleric, lycan bloodhunter, eloquence bard, and phantom rogue. The bloodhunter and rogue could only SB once, but we had 3 full casters with it so good enough.

In this particular fight with a single deadly enemy, LR burning and stunlock would be effective even without SB. SB just made it faster. Of course, many DMs avoid party vs 1 enemy for this reason in the first place. Even though this strategy felt a bit cheesy and unfair (to the dragon), everyone had fun. The martials getting free crits and the teamwork of SB chaining to quickly stunlock the dragon before a 2nd breath weapon ensured their victory. As a DM, of course I would never do the same against the players with multiple mages, I do not believe "if the party can do it, so can the enemy." We are all cheering for the party's side.

tl;dr Silvery Barbs is one of the best 1st level spells, extremely so against a single enemy. But the party had fun and felt a sense of teamwork rather than cheap "I win". There's unfun OP and fun OP, SB definitely the latter in this group of players. 006ab0faaa
