Bosco Habyarimana, MA, Lecturer on Peace Education

Bosco is an assistant researcher and lecturer at the Center for Conflict Management at the National University of Rwanda, where he lectures on conflict transformation and civic and peace education. He received his MA in peace education from the United Nations Mandated University for Peace in Costa Rica. After obtaining his BEd in language teaching, Bosco worked for two years as a teacher of English and head of teaching staff. In 2006, he joined the National University of Rwanda as a tutorial assistant in the School of Foundation Language Schools, where he was in charge of teaching English to students ready to commence their university courses.

Global Sanitation Graduate School launches the GSGS Keynote Series dealing with hot topics about City-wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS). Starting on Wednesday, 26 January 2022, the premier GSGS Keynote Series edition will feature Prof. Mark C.M. van Loosdrecht, Ph.D., and Mr. Rene Noppeney, MSc, MBA, who will share their views on innovation development, going all the way from an early idea to a fully commercialized technology. GSGS Keynote Series will be broadcasted monthly, each time hosted by another university. It will cover a wide range of speakers and CWIS topics.

In 2014, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and Global Sanitation Graduate School introduced the award for the best master thesis on sanitation addressing the challenges in the field. The award enables the winner to remain for couple of months longer at host university and to transfer the thesis findings into open journal publication. It also facilitates presentation of the research at appropriate conference.

Gulu University is one of the public universities of Uganda located in Northern Region and was established by an Act of Parliament in 2001 to contribute to community transformation of that region. Through this act, the university is mandated to conduct training, research and outreach. It comprises of 6 faculties and 2 institutes. Due to its focus on positive and constructive community transformation as its moto, Gulu university is an engaged and engendered university through its policies of Community Engagement and Gender, respectively.

The university boasts of several functional collaborative linkages with other local and international universities, research organizations and development partners. It is also a member of the Consortium of African Universities under Regional University Forum for Capacity Building in Africa (RUFORUM)

Kabale University (KAB) is a Public University under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (2001) (as amended in 2003 and 2006). The University was established as a not-for-profit community institution, by the current districts of Kabale, Kanungu, Kisoro and Rukungiri. The University opened its gates in 2002 and currently has a student enrolment of over 3090 students: coming from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo (DRC) and South Sudan. Kabale University has recently been transformed from a private into a public University. Statutory Instrument 2015 No. 36 of 16th July 2015 formally established Kabale University as a public university under the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act (2001) (as amended in 2003 and 2006).

Makerere University is a premier public institution in Uganda; but also the oldest and most prestigious English Universities in Africa. The University was established in 1922 as a technical school. In 1937, it started developing into an institution of higher education, offering post-school certificate courses, and in 1949, it became a University College affiliated to the University College of London, offering courses leading to the general degrees of its then mother institution. On July 1, 1970, Makerere became an independent national university of the Republic of Uganda, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses leading to its own awards. Makerere University offers not only day but also evening and external study programmes to a student body of about 35,000 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates (both Ugandan and foreign). It is also a very active center for research.

KYUSACCO is a Saving and Credit Cooperative for all university staff. The SACCO was legally registered with the registrar of cooperative at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Co-operatives on 12th Dec 2004. The main Aim of the SACCO is to instill a standing culture of saving and credit discipline and to ensure financial security of the members. The SACCO is also founded on the pillar of accumulated savings, which is a key corner-stone for investment.

A HOT project with the support of FSD Uganda. It served to grow and strengthen the Ugandan OpenStreetMap community, working with university students and community members to collect data on financial services, health facilities and education facilities in the areas where they lived. The program trained and equiped participants with the necessary skills, equipment, and other resources to collect and map this data.
