I have been trying to buy a book on my kindle app on both my iPhone 12 and iPad Pro 11 I have also tried using safari web to try to purchase as well as the Amazon shopping app all say App does not support the purchase of books! I find way beyond wrong and honestly dumb hoping some knows a fix?

As perverse and non-sensical as it may seem, Amazon require you to purchase Kindle books either from a Kindle device - or by using the Kindle Books webpage on the Amazon website. Once purchased, books can be downloaded from your Kindle Library to your Kindle App.

Amazon have deliberately contrived their Kindle App to allow download of purchased books - but will not allow you to purchase books directly from the Kindle App. Amazon likely have a commercial interest in forcing you to purchase books in this manner (perhaps in encouraging you to purchase a Kindle Reader) - and only they have the ability to change App functionality.

There was probably a time when your home was brimming with bookshelves, stuffed to the gills with novels you have already read or yet plan to read. These days, a single Kindle can clear out all that clutter, putting virtually every book you could want to read in the palm of your hands.

Note: Your iPhone and iPad automatically prompt you to use apps if you have them. However, you should ignore these prompts since you cannot use the Amazon or Kindle apps to purchase books.

Any time you use a website for an app you have, your iPhone or iPad will keep prompting you to use the app instead. If you accidentally navigate to the Amazon or Kindle app and try to purchase the book, you will see the message, "This app does not support purchasing of this content. Digital books and comics purchased from Amazon are available to read in the Kindle app." If this happens, just navigate back to Safari. Also, if you have trouble downloading a book due to storage limits, you can also learn how to manage your iCloud storage.

I get tired of having to buy Kindle e-books by navigating to the Amazon site through Safari. If you want to find an easy way to buy Kindle books on your iPad or iPhone, there's a shortcut. To learn more iPhone tricks, sign up for our free Tip of the Day newsletter.

Now get to reading! If you plan to buy more Kindle books on your iPhone or iPad in the future, I highly recommend that you create a shortcut to the Amazon store from your iPhone or iPad Home screen. I have a number of ebooks that I am managing using calibre - E-book management. These books are in a number of various formats (pdf, chm, epub, mobi...etc). I found a blog post that detailed using Calibre to convert the ebooks to ".mobi" versions and then, by double-clicking on the converted books, they would be added to my "Kindle for PC" library. This worked very well.

I JUST got this to work. After i downloaded Kindle for IPhone, i went into iTunes on my PC, select 'File' -> 'Add file to library' -> select Kindle from the PC desktop. A few minutes later, my books from the Kindle for PC showed up in the ARCHIVE list at the the kindle for iPhone. I went into that list and downloaded them into my main kindle list. Hope this will work for you as well.

I don't think it is going to work , I have a kindle and I too use Calibre to manage some of the content in my Kindle . Calibre detects the kindle(or any other ebook reader) when you connect and can automatically sync with it .

When you connect you phone the calibre doesnot detect your phone as an ebook reader so it wont transfer the books to your phone .

What you need to do is ,locate where on your hard drive(you can check this from the calibre's settings) , the books are stored and then manually transfer them to your phone.

The kindle books is not avaible in the app without amazon echo or other device :( is not that simple like how you explain. If you have a solution to have kindle avaible in alexa app withouth device, please let me know

I can confirm that alexa app is not showing kindle books. In fact, I tried alexa.amazon.com to check and if you choose to stream kindle to an app, it will tell you that kindle streaming is not available for this device. Apparently amazon decides that it can make more money selling echos so they no longer let you stream kindle books to the app on your phone. I used to listen to my kindle books in my car from the phone and now I am not able to anymore.

This happens sometimes for me as well for many books while Alexa narrates, so probably not select to it. I wish I could find out what causes this issue, sometimes it occurs frequently in short bursts and sometimes nothing happens at all. IDK. );

If you want to download books to your iPhone or iPad, the Kindle app is a great way to do so. There are literally hundreds of thousands of books available to download and read from the Kindle store. From there, you can add them all to your iPad or iPhone before gazing at them and their beautiful covers in full color rather than what's possible on a regular Kindle.

Knowing how to purchase and download books with the Kindle app is fairly simple once you know how. All you need is your trusty iPhone whether that's the latest iPhone 15 Pro or simply one of the best iPhones. Alternatively, if you'd rather a more Kindle like experience then using an iPad is a better method.

However you plan on using the Kindle app, it's useful to be able to take your extensive library of books with you wherever you take your Apple device, including if you choose to buy new titles while you go. All you need besides your trusty slate or phone is an Amazon account. If you somehow don't have one yet, head over to the Amazon site now to sign up.

There are over a million books, comics, magazines, and newspapers to choose from in the Kindle store - but to read them you're going to have to buy them and add them to your Kindle library. The first port of call is the Amazon Kindle e-book store that you can access on any device, whether it has the app or not. There, you can buy Kindle books or add free ones to your library.

Once you've bought at least one Kindle e-book, you'll find it in the Kindle Library on the Kindle app. You can browse your books, and it syncs with the rest of the devices using your Kindle account so that you'll never be searching through pages to find where you left off. That remains the case even if you transfer between your iPhone and iPad.

If you want to read digital books from Amazon's vast Kindle library, you won't need a Kindle device to do it - you can use the app as above. If you want the best experience possible, however, you'll need a Kindle reader. You'll get a top-quality e-ink screen that's good for your eyes, and you can even buy books on the device over Wi-Fi.

The best Kindle for pretty much everyone, the current model Kindle Paperwhite comes with a warm lit screen and plenty of storage for loads of Kindle e-books. It's not the most expensive device either, and if you want the best e-reader experience then this is the way to go.

If you want a color screen and the iPhone is just a little too small for you, then this is the way to go. The Fire 7 is unbelievably inexpensive and works perfectly with the rest of the Kindle and Amazon ecosystem. 7-inches is perfect for books too, so there'll be plenty of screen to have a read with.

But early last year I was bound and determined to read more than one original work a year, so I set my Goodreads reading goal to 50 books, hopped on Twitter, and downloaded a varied selection of books to the Kindle app on my phone.

Hi, any idea why the (library book rental)Libby app on IPhone would only read titles, page number & menu options but not the book text itself?

Do I just have to bite the bullet & get a kindle?

What if you could get your phone or tablet to read Kindle or other text aloud to you? I have recently come across an easy way to do this. This is an economics blog, so I will note that this approach saves considerable money versus paying for audio books like Audible, or paying for the Narration option on Kindle. Most of us already have text books we have bought from e.g. Kindle. Also, if you search on the subject, there are various sources for free on-line books, including hundreds of thousands titles available through Libby/Overdrive via your public library. This text-to-voice method should work with all of these e-books.

I am noticing a new issue when reading Kindle books on my iPhone. I sent the following report to device-accessibility@amazon.com but I am reposting it here as I'm wondering if others on this forum are able to reproduce this issue.

I have used VoiceOver to read my books to me ever since I got my iPad Pro. But with the latest iOS Kindle app release it is pausing at the end of every line and is very disruptive (almost not listenable). I am very interested in a solution also.

This is a temporary fix until Amazon updates the Kindle app. Use Alexa to read your kindle books, either the app or The actual device. She reads everything normally and there are no pauses between lines. Say Alexa, read the name of the book. Alexa will respond by picking up right where you left off in the last book you read. All the books in your Kindle library are copied over to Alexa, so she can read any of them, just tell her the title. 2351a5e196
