i tried it installing it via packet manager. then i tried it using the terminal like described here: ~kdenlive/+archive/ubuntu/kdenlive-stableVersion via terminal looks more modern. But problem stays.

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.1 and had installed Kdenlive via snap. When I tried to open kdenlive via terminal the splash indicated that the problem is with pulseaudio. Somehow, kdenlive snap isn't able to detect pulseaudio.

The problem is "Where the "kdenliverc" file is located on the KDENLIVE installation manual instructs that "Kdenlive's application-wide persistent settings are stored in the following locations, depending on your platform."

Instead, it was on "/home/username/.var/app/org.kde.kdenlive/config/kdenliverc"According to more experienced Linux users is due to the fact that I am using Flaptpack but the most important is the issue was resolved

This looks like an application issue.

Have you already tried looking into the KDE bug report?

Attached below is a link filtered by product "kdenlive" and containing the word "crash" (you can change the filter of course), there are a few reports which might look like yours, but you are the only one who can check the details.

 _status=__open__&content=crash&no_redirect=1&order=changeddate%20DESC%2Cpriority%2Cbug_severity&product=kdenlive&query_format=specific

You just need to type in "kdenlive" into the console and it should throw up your error message there. If it says "Cannot mix incompatible Qt library" then try typing in "sudo pacman -Rns qt5-stylesplugin" to remove that package, everything should hopefully work then. If that is the issue then those two simple commands in the terminal should hopefully solve your problem

end of output.

With that, it stands still. Obviously tries to do something it cannot do. Bt as I only tried tp load one jpg file, it's not that the program could be busy loading it. What I see in that output, and in the program, is that it gets stuck trying to create the thumbnail for the object Iimported.

But judging by the long list of problems my install is really a wreck. So with that command you gave me above I will erase it, and also look for some config files that needs to get eliminated.

Then I will retry to install it. I have seen that there are different versions. Kdenlive, kdenlive-git, Kdenlive appimage. And from what you wrote above, I should try not to install a version from chaotic-aur?

In the meantime I also tried, if I could install Kdenlive in a Garuda live version, running from USB installation ISO. But that also didn't work. The installation went through with hundred of errors, and the app was available in the App Launcher. But it wouldn't even start. From this experience I take that I will watch carefully what errors I get during the installation process. If I can get it, I will post that log here afterwards.

Until then you're in some luck, you can download and enable flatpak and use the flatpak version of kdenlive, which will have all the dependencies it needs packed into the application itself so it can run perfectly out of the box. That should be a good temporary solution, here's a quick guide on how to set that up.

And then after those instructions you can install the flatpak version of kdenlive in your software manager, if it supports flatpak. If not then just type into the terminal "flatpak install kdenlive", go through the process and once it's downloaded you can get to work You'll need flatseal to have apps access other drives, if your video files are in an external one. But if they're on the same drive as your Linux install then you can skip flatseal entirely.

Some weeks ago I posted the question if it's ok to do a Semi-Clean install by leaving the /home partition unchanged. Someone said: Yes, works fine, but you might need to clean some of the config files if stuff doesn't work. This could be the case here ... und also with another app that's giving me problems: IDrive Online Backup.

So I will try to find all entries in my /home referring to kdenlive and delete them before I reinstall it.

And Flatpacks are actually quite good, sometimes better than AppImages.

I spent half day trying to make a movie on kdenlive, and guess what? Kdenlive was not installed with classic, because i did not notice notification, that classic is ignored for strictly confined snap. So I lost few hours of my work.

As @popey mentioned, if your personal folders and files are not on the same partition as snap, then you should grant your kdenlive-as-a-snap permission to access removable-media which actually means access to anything under /media, /mnt and /run/mnt.

I have a client who wants to create movies on Linux mint. She is offering council skills for women from broken homes , bit like motivation films. They are to be around 30 mins long and then will go on her web site in MP4 format or onto YouTube.

This is an area I know nothing about.

Any suggestions on what software to use

She has. Teleprompter running for the words and will later add subtitles

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks

I just wanted to say that for all of those requesting that linuxmint.com should have https:// , that would do absolutely nothing to prevent all attacks and would be no guarantee that any information (such as hashes) that is put on the site is legit.

For any good , I downloaded the direct file mint cinnamon 17.3 64bit edition .I have checked md5sum via terminal and it matches exactly with the value given above .Thanks to the developers for telling the problems to the user as soon as founding the threat.

I downloaded and and installed linuxmint-17-mate-64bit-v2 on a laptop Friday night around 10pm EST. Do I need to be concerned? If so, what is the valid signature for that ISO so I can compare? Thank you.

ty for the blog, i had no idea linuxmint was attacked. im glad also that you provide torrents thou i only use mate 17.2 and 17.3. prior to this attack i was not able to download any torrents on linuxmint.com for week or two. everyone should make the habit to check the md5 checksum. thats the way to go!!! viva mate!!!

I tried to read through everything, only saw one mention of the man-db under /var/lib

Checking for the man-cy, I do not have but I do have the man-db folder.

New to linux here, found a distro that is pleasing, concerned about this hacked version.

I had two events though that concerned me, on the 20th, navigate to Google.com and the site was blocking me, too many attempts or too many connections.

Installed skype, was sending a file to my colleague and it indicated I was sending the file to two contacts, and further investigating this was showing to be the same contact waiting to receive, I figure this is a skype issue though.

I have the ISO and install went fine, I am as I say new to linux and still have to learn how to do the MD5 check.

Should I be concerned? ISO File date is from Feb 05-2016 so downloaded long before the 20th.

REALLY liking this distro ? thank you

Harlan

I am sorry to hear this happened to the beloved Linuxmint site and team Any idea on what your plan at linuxmint will be to prevent being hacked like this in the future or? I am a long mint user for about 8 years now and I love it especially cinnamon and kd. I was wondering though has this made any problems with any other ISO like KDE,MINT,XFCE and so on or? also How have things at mint been since the problem that is currently going on?

Hi guys, is there someone who install this hacked version on virtual in other virtual have another linux (kali, backbox or another pentest linux) and try catch comunication from virtual with hacket mint? Good choice for https on web is lets encrypt

Another way to get a good image is to use the torrents. Check linuxtracker.org or tuxdistro.com for the Mint torrent files. Oh, and make sure they are torrents from before the hack in mid January, just in case the asshats try to seed a fake torrent. You can then use the above sha256 hashes (or the ones from the mirror Clem posted a link to) to verify the ISO image before installing it.

This tells us that the sha256sum.txt hash file was signed by Clem (linuxmint.com). The warning below that can be ignored (it just indicates your current GnuPG trust database does not have trust information for that signing key).

Today I received this security update mintUpdate 4.9.9.1.

A description of the update reads as follows:

Help installing security updates and new versions of packages.

TSUNAMI detect and warn the user!

What does that mean?

@ PRESONUS. After all this time one would expect that Presonus would have at least tried to support linux, especially with all of us that have the pro versions, I am having to use two different computers to do my editing of audio and video on as studio one does not work on linux but Da Vinci Resolve does, and that comes from Black Magic Design one of the biggest video, Camera and studio equipment manufacturers even they cottoned on to the need to have their products work on Linux, I would move all my PC's over to Linux if Presonus would just catch a wake up call, I wonder how many times they have to be asked, people are getting fed up with windows and allot of us in 3rd world countries can't all afford macs, Come on Presonus! What is it going to take to get you to start working on a Linux version can you imagine how many people would go over to linux just for that fact, and, how much more clientele you will have if you do, I think people are giving up on this as you just do not even try, PLEASE!!!!!!!! e24fc04721
