Aside from multiple life terms, Presiding Judge Glenn De Castro Aquino sentenced her to an additional 14 years in prison and ordered her to pay a total of P6 million in fines and P1.5 million in moral, civil and exemplary damages.

In October 2023, Duterte's daughter, Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte requested Congress for the allocation of confidential funds for the office of the vice president (OVP) and the education department which can be used for the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program. Congress rejected Sara's request[360] but swiftly approved the confidential funds of the Office of the President,[361] leading the elder Duterte to allege that House Speaker Martin Romualdez and the Makabayan bloc are behind a plot against his daughter.[360] Duterte criticized the House of Representatives as the "most rotten institution" in the country,[362] saying the House enjoyed "unlimited" pork barrel funds and demanding an audit of the House under Romualdez;[363] Duterte's comments offended some House members[364] including Romualdez,[365] prompting the House to issue a loyalty check resolution in support of Romualdez. Shortly after, the House expelled Duterte's political allies former President and Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and Congressman Isidro Ungab as Deputy House Speakers for failing to sign the resolution.[366] Several House members of Duterte's party, PDP-Laban, party-switched, mostly to the Romualdez-led Lakas-CMD,[367] leaving only 15 PDP-Laban members from 120 at the height of Duterte's presidency.[368] After ACT Teachers Representative France Castro of the Makabayan bloc pushed to remove the OVP and education department's confidential funds, Duterte urged Sara to reveal the use of such funds, which includes the supposed killing of communists such as Castro;[364] Castro then filed a legal case against Duterte for labeling her as a communist rebel and allegedly threatening her life.[369]

Oh, did I tell you that I do not know how to swim? I really enjoy hanging out in swimming pools but only when my feet can reach the floor. Fortunately, they said no swimming skills are needed on this activity as life jackets are provided and well-trained instructors are always on hand to guide the participants. The package cost of P1700 per person includes transportation to and from the Rafting area, packed lunch, use of gears and equipment, guides, a souvenir shirt, and a photo CD per group containing photos taken during the activity.

We all started with a few practice sessions on the still waters where the guides taught us how to properly paddle our boats. Those paddles are quite heavy and it was not as easy as I had thought. It definitely gets tiring after a while. More importantly, they taught us how to float on the river with our life jackets while laying on our backs. We were made to jump in the river and get back up on the boat several times with the help of our group mates.

Having passed our first rapids quite easily, I got a false sense of security and thought that the rest would be just as easy. I later found out that this was my biggest mistake. The second rapids, ominously called the Washing Machine, was about to turn my life upside-down.

As for my story, once I plunged into the raging waters, I tried my best to hold a steady position so that I would float back up above the water, just like we had done in practice. But for some reason, as I lay there under the water, I was just not floating back up. It was probably because we were in the eye of the rapids and the currents were so strong that it was pulling me under. I was stuck there on the rocks, under the water, and felt that my time had finally come. Many seconds passed and I tried kicking around until I kicked a rock and even lost my slipper. I even tried reaching for it but when I saw it fade away into the river I finally realized that there was no more hope. Despite my Lupus condition, my life was not going to end in a hospital, but underneath the waters of the Davao river. How ironic.

You might find this Travel Blog a little different to most. A search like this is not a picnic. Nor a wild travel party. A lot of what goes on here, is the raw reality of life. Lots more in my about section.

If I have not written anything here or updated my status on twitter in over two weeks, then someone might like to call the police in said country. I joke not.
