Wii Sports Resort[a] is a 2009 sports simulation video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Wii video game console and is the sequel to Wii Sports. It is one of the first Wii games to require the Wii MotionPlus accessory, which was bundled with the game.[6] Wii Sports Resort was first announced at E3 2008[6] and was released in Japan on June 25, 2009, and in nearly all other regions the following month. While Wii Sports Resort was first released as a stand-alone title, it was later bundled with newer Wii consoles alongside Wii Sports.[7]

Wii Sports Resort is a sports video game set in a tropical island on an archipelago named Wuhu Island.[9] The first time a player starts the game, several instructional videos will play, then the strap usage screen and the Wii MotionPlus test. Finally, the player will skydive to Wuhu Island. Twelve different sports are available; like the original Wii Sports game, the sports are each played by holding the Wii Remote (and in some cases, the Nunchuk) like the actual sport being replicated.

Most notably, in archery, the player holds the Wii Remote vertically to hold the bow and pulls back the Nunchuk to pull back the bow's string. The new feature that Wii Sports Resort brings is Wii MotionPlus compatibility, which enables 1:1 control and allows the games to be played with greater accuracy. For example, the game's new variation, table tennis, gives the player greater control over adding spin to the ball by twisting the Wii Remote while swinging. In golf, the player can spin the ball by rotating the Wii Remote while swinging. Some sports involving more than two players support hot seat multiplayer, in which just one Wii Remote is needed and is shared among players while taking turns. The only games returning from the original Wii Sports are Bowling and Golf, while Table Tennis was originally a game in Wii Play. The other nine sports are entirely new and unique to the game.

Some of these sports are one-player, and some have a different version of the sport that is two-player. Most sports support multiplayer; in those sports, the maximum number of players is two or four, depending on the game.

Before being given a name, a similar but less detailed version of the island was featured in a playable demo at E3 2006 titled Wii Sports: Airplane,[12][14] a minigame similar to PilotWings where the player would fly a plane around an island, passing through rings on a set time limit.[14][15] The game was showcased alongside other sports demos of other sport-related minigames,[16] which were later incorporated into Wii Sports; the airplane minigame was never added into the final game,[12][17] but was later repurposed in a jogging minigame for Wii Fit.[12][18] The island was given named locales and was called "Wii Fit Island"[f] in the game's manual,[20] although the island lacked certain characteristics that were refined later on in future Nintendo games, such as in Wii Sports Resort.[12][21]

The idea for a sequel to Wii Sports was considered well before the advent of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral. Development only moved forward when the new possibilities in control were realized.[30] The game was first revealed at Nintendo's E3 2008 press conference.[31] Two minigames, fishing and water slide, were first considered for inclusion in the game but were scrapped during development. A prototype kendama minigame was also created, but it was left out of the final product as the developers felt it did not fit into the resort theme.[32]

The principal setting of Wii Sports Resort, Wuhu Island, originally appeared at E3 2006 in the scrapped "Airplane" mode for Wii Sports but was subsequently changed to fit the mold of the Wii Fit series as "Wii Fit Island". It was then remolded again into the profile of a resort island, where it would earn its official name of Wuhu Island.[33][34] Hotels, a castle, some rock formations and ruins of an older civilization, and various sports arenas (such as the tennis courts from Wii Sports, a bowling alley, and a swordplay arena) were added.[35][36] The island has since appeared as a stage in Nintendo games such as Wii Fit Plus (as well as its Wii U counterpart Wii Fit U), Pilotwings Resort, Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.[37][38]

In May 2010, the American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed the Wii to encourage sedentary people to take the first step toward fitness. The AHA heart icon covers the console, and its more active games, Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort.[70][71] Nintendo Power listed Wii Sports Resort and its predecessor Wii Sports as two of the best multi-player experiences in Nintendo history, stating that everyone can have fun with them, ranging from young children to grandparents. They also cite the wide range of sports available.[72]

Some people think they are dated, offering worse accommodations than a with poorly-made rooms, some people think they offer a cheap alternative to Deluxe resorts while still allowing Guests to take full advantage of on-property benefits. Although the Value Resorts are far from our favorite resorts, Sarah and I come down on the side of liking the Value Resorts for what they are.

By contrast, if you plan on spending a lot of time at your resort, and would like to be able to use a nice pool, eat at nicer restaurants, and enjoy other nice amenities, the Value Resorts may not be the best fit for your touring style. This goes for all of the Value Resorts.

I cannot comment on ALL STAR SPORTS. YET. We have stayed at All Star Movies and there were really no problems. It was better than any motel we have used while traveling on the interstate. We will be staying at All Star Sports over Easter this year. $ 149.00 a night.

We are passholders and snowbirds. Our RV park is a bit far away for a one day out and back trip. SO All Star Sports was the only place on WDW property available during the time slot. We made reservations a month ago. Now even they are booked.

We were NOT. Disappointed in All Star Movies and expect we will NOT be disappointed here.

As a comparison we have stayed at all types WDW resorts. We were disappointed at the delux resorts because they were much too expensive for what we got.

Sport is a lifestyle. I work as a golf coach and have been practicing sports all my life. I adapt my life for sports and it is very difficult. You must constantly look for new things that will help you grow professionally. I found a very good store for golf love.gym near me

Switch Sports is almost guaranteed to be in my GOTY list at the end of 2022, but I'm not sure I'll ever play it again. I have an odd relationship with the odd little Switch title. When I reviewed it, I found it a desperately shallow experience that, while good in the moment, had no sense of progression, creativity, or anything beyond the very basic 'play some sports'. While gameplay was more refined, as a total package it was a major step back from Wii Sports. It offered only five sports, and while golf was promised to be coming shortly after launch, some delays have meant we're still waiting. The only thing that might get me back now is if it takes some lessons from Wii Sports Resort.

My point is, as fun as it might be to play football with Joy-Con akimbo, Nintendo was relying on a lazy sense of FOMO to keep us coming back. The only gameplay update of note is that football can now be played with a leg strap, which no one playing seriously is ever going to do anyway. In Wii Sports, you had offline progression in all five sports, as well as minigames for all of them and training exercises for all of them. Much like Brain Training, there was also a Gym Mode that randomly selected three of the training tasks and pitted you against them. None of this is present in Switch Sports, but the bare bones feel of the game only becomes more apparent when you look at Wii Sports Resort.

Wii Sports Resort had 13 distinct sports, and a huge amount of variety too, ranging from table tennis, to wakeboarding, to basketball, to even flying a plane (that's definitely not a sport, mind, but it was fun). The titular resort also felt lived in, with the Island Flyover mode letting you see all of the arenas from above. Here, each sport had at least three variants, and each variant had five specific challenges to complete, as well as a ranking system. Switch Sports has just five sports, and they're not even that different. Put volleyball and tennis in and blender and you get badminton, so why are all three of them in Switch Sports? Why, given the massive popularity of NBA 2K, did basketball not make the cut?

It's all right to admit it: You've had fun playing Wii Sports. The simple repetitive play is way more enjoyable than you'd ever expect it to be, particularly if you're playing it with kids. The new Wii Sports Resort has a similar feel, only with more sports, better graphics and long-term playability, and, of course, the Wii MotionPlus.

The 888-room Loews Arlington Hotel will be the first-of-its-kind meeting and resort destination, situated between two iconic sports stadiums, opening in early 2024. This one-of-a-kind hotel will also be connected to the new Loews Arlington Convention Center, also opening in 2024. Whether you are a leisure traveler, sports fan, or meeting attendee, Loews Arlington will offer the latest and greatest amenities, a modern and forward-thinking design, and service excellence at every turn.

The resort rooms are laid out in five main areas, each themed to a specific sport. They are basketball, baseball, football, tennis and surfing. You can see where each of these themed areas are in the resort map.

If you plan on staying at these resorts, we think you would be wise to check if there are any athletic events going on at Disney at the same time. That may push you to one of the other value resorts if price is of primary importance. e24fc04721
