I'm not as old but I absolutely concur. I have spent years developing a custom sound scheme on my phone. I want the ability to set the sound used as the default tone, I do NOT want it set for me. Had I know about this "feature" of iOS 17, I would have ignore the update.

I am old and need the different tones to separate which app wants my attention. Also, because I don't hear as well as I used to, I need a tone that I can make loud enough to hear and one that lasts a length of time more than a nanosecond. I miss so many notifications that involve work and security. I love my iPhone 12 Pro Max and that my Mac, iPad, and Apple Watch are all integrated and work well together to get work done. But, if I don't hear distinct notifications on the phone or the watch, the whole Apple ecosystem becomes a black hole where ones and zeros die.

I understand with iOS 17.2 users can now change the default notification tone, but it would be great if we can pick sounds depending on the app so we can truly customise the phone. Having the same sound for every app notification is rather annoying, especially if you're with other people who all have iPhones and you don't know if its your phone that's going off or someone else's. Just please allow us to pick the sounds based on the app.

Likewise, no one here in this user-to-user forum would know why Apple does or does not do something. However, I'd guess all the complaints in this forum about the loudness of notifications sounds might have something to do with it.

I'm with you. My first and only smartphones have all been iPhone since 2011. Seriously looking at moving over to Android. It may seem such a trivial thing to some but I rely on booking notifications for my job. A five or ten second delay in responding can be the difference as to whether I secure the job for the day.

I am hard of hearing and cannot get a hearing aids. So, when I updated this, nearly all of my alerts and rings are gone. I cannot hear the faint beep for my alerts and notifications. And I am missing several of my alarms for every day things like taking my needed medications and waking up to go to work, doctors, hearing the notification on my ring (safety issue), etc. I rely on those alerts, notifications, and alarms daily. Whomever thought of this change, did not think of the hard of hearing people and the elderly. Bye bye iPhone as soon as I pay this phone off, adios. Please put it back.

Please fix this "default" sound (called Rebound) with an updated version of IOS orrrrr allow the end user to select whatever tone they want tto use for 3rd party apps just as we do for texting functions, email, etc.

No...this is not the solution to the problem we are referring to. The default alert sound used to be Tri-Tone. For some strange reason, Apple decided to change it to Rebound, a very quiet tone, in iOS 17.

Same here. I rely on hearing the notification so that I can accept bookings (Substitute teacher) really quickly before others snap it up. I have to have the phone in my hand and constantly look at it.

IOS users there is a solution to better notifications - There is a way to receive a phone call when the Arlo security is triggered. This uses the IFTTT app (if this then that' automation app) - took me 5 minutes to set up and it works great.

Yes I have the same issue, message notifications make a sound when unlocked, but not when locked, Lock Screen does not even light up when notification received. If I wake it up the notification is there.

I took out my very old iPhone se (1st gen) and started using it again, it is supposed to be compatible with iOs 15. When I get text or email it vibrates very gently, like I can feel it if I'm holding it in my hand, but no notification sounds, no ringtone when I get a call.

Like many of you, my notifications volumes was minuscule compared to the ringer volume on my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15.0.2.Then I found the following solution suggested (I don't remember where I found it):

I have the same issue with notification sounds not working unless the phone is unlocked. However, the notification still sounds on my watch. When I turn off Bluetooth, the notification sound works just fine.

Since the new update the notification sound changed from the simple chime to an irritating noise. How do I change this? Seems the only solution wyze provided is for android devices. Do we have some information for iOS devices?

Agreed, the new sound is annoying. This change should be reversed so that the phone default notification sound is used. I have Android, and am not able to override this change in the latest update. Confirmed by customer support.

I do not hear well. I had set a custom sound for the notification. now I miss the notifications because I can not hear them. was an unnecessary change. with all the options users could use their own sound of choice. i regret buying all the Wyze cameras I have. i get false alarms with light changes even with the cam Plus. looking at other cameras currently so I can throw all of these away

I understand and sorry for the frustration the new notification sound caused for you. If you are using an Android, you should be able to reset the custom sound you were using before. I changed the sound on my Android phone by following the steps below.

Has anyone found a solution to the Arlo notification on iphone ring tone problem. Everyone knows the problem, no pop up menu allowing the user to select a ring tone the can hear when sleeping at night. I tried a email notification to iphone but can't get that to work either work. I had hoped with Arlo operating system 4.03_2 the issue would be resolved but no such luck. Only solution I am left with unless someone can help is ditch Arlo or ditch iphone. If anyone out there has a solution Arlo to iPhone notification ring tone management please reply

Here is something to try on IPhone users . Go to settings. Then notifications , turn on Announce Notifications. Turn on all badges, keep it at persistent.. It will now speak out loud alerts on cameras that are triggered and will do so till you cleared it .

you can also turn on led flashing alerts. Type to in search bar in settings and it will pop up .

I found a crazy fix that works for me. I found an email account that I don't use and that gets no messages (for me it was an old Yahoo account). I then went into my Gmail (which is my main account) and filtered the notification messages from Arlo to go to my Yahoo email. As a result, there's a unique sound on my phone which is my Yahoo account notification sound. Since only my Arlo messages are getting forwarded from my Gmail to my Yahoo account, this solution works for me. I realize it's not a fix for Arlo's poor app design, but at least it's a band-aid until they come up with the latest release and will hopefully listen to all of us complaining about this simple feature upgrade.

Also, I am assuming that the volume of the sound will match whatever the user has set their ringer volume to, and if set to vibrate mode, the phone will vibrate instead of playing a sound. Is this correct?

I have tested the maximum length of a push notification audio alert, which not surprisingly turned out to be 30 seconds. Any longer audio files will result in the built-in Tri-tone alert being played instead.

I understand what you mean, and upon checking the iPhone's settings, there's no way that we can customize the notification on your phone. What we only have here is to change the doorbell sounds via the Nest app. If you want to know more about this, you can check this link as your reference.

Thanks for asking! From Princess' response it appears as though there is no way to select tones to be played by the iPhone whenever a camera detects something. The only option is to turn sound off or on. I think this is a missing feature. I think the default alert tone for camera alerts is quite moderate - and I would like to be able to select a more aggressive ringtone for camera alerts.

This way I am able to switch to different push notification sounds. If I do this the first time everything works fine. But if I switch to an other app and I receive a push notification there is no sound anymore. Also the default sound isn't played. But the strange thing is, that if I reboot the iPhone and I receive a new push notification I get the newly selected sound..

So i know this might sound weird but for the past month my S10 has been making Iphone notification sounds at specific times of the day. At first i thought the timings were random but it goes off at around that same times e.g. ~2am, ~7:20pm and other times.

@HBH786: For clarity, have you checked Settings > Notifications > Recently Sent, to see if any apps are listed that correspond with the notification sound? If you have, and if you can't see anything, please tap the Recents button in your Navigation Bar, and close all apps that are open, just in case the sound you're hearing is an in-app notification that's chiming in the background. Furthermore, head to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Optimise Now to close any hidden background apps. If you have installed any third party apps in the last month, I recommend uninstalling them temporarily, or heading to Settings > Apps > Select the relevant app(s) > Notifications > Off.

What camera device do you have in the APP? Some old devices don't support the sound notification settings. You can try to delete some old models and change the sound. Then you can add the cameras back. 17dc91bb1f
