So first thing is to upgrade it. I grabbed -foscam.zip which (at the time) purported to be a collection of firmware required to upgrade the camera. The upgrade software runs on Windows, and I was able to do the upgrades from an instance of Windows XP running under VirtualBox on my home FreeBSD server.

Barry de Graaff provides a javascript tool for controlling Foscam-like cameras here. His tarball provides useful additional information, such as the fact you can remotely set the time and network information using URLs like:

Im having similar issue with my Hikvision cams on MS edge, I gave up on chrome for this a while ago. A week ago they worked and now they dont. I can pull the cam snapshot up in a stand alone URL, but it wont display in sharptools media tile anymore. And yes I have unsecure content enabled for these local IP addresses which was working fine for a couple years.

Double click on IPCamSetup.exe, it will install the necessary software for the camera. After it is installed, from Windows start menu, run IP Camera Tool, it will launch a tool to detect Foscam cameras:

Note: If FTP test was successful, but the camera still does not upload any images, it could be due to some new models of Foscam IP Cameras having a different step of FTP / Alarm configuration, it is called "Snapshot Settings". Please see the screenshot below:

If you want to save some time here is my summary: Overall I like this camera. Setup and configuration is simple. Picture quality is good and the features will suit most needs. Like my other Foscam camera review, price is very nice especially for a PTZ camera. Be aware that this camera only uploads images (not video) for your cloud storage. Overall great value.

hi . i have camera foscam .. its work at my computer but when i try to see it in my phone its told me this cam have other accaount .. i have the sd and the box .. please hellp me to see the cam in my phone

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox. I've got a Foscam FI9821W IP camera and I'm trying to get live video on Firefox. Then I want to add to zoneminder. I opened the IPCam Client page and downloaded and installed the plugin as prompted, hit "login" and there was the next page of the IPCam Client. No live video, like the Foscam users manual said. Is there something wrong with the plugin? I've been reading online that Foscam doesn't really support Linux, like they claim. I managed to add the camera to zoneminder, but the IP address is red and not orange like it should be. Which means it's not working. Has anyone had experience with Foscam HD cameras? Can someone help me?

I have found Zoneminder to be a power hog so I don't use it. I have not had any luck using VLC. Foscam requires a plugin which sometimes works with Wine+Firefox+myfoscam.com. I have never been able to use myfoscam.com in Ubuntu+Firefox.

I have had success using Ubuntu+Chrome+MyIpCam-apt from the Chrome store. My Netgear server forwards port 88 to the camera which has a static ip. By knowing my external ip address I am able to view the camera on the web.

IE is a pain, but we need it, for some sites, like for the Activex mode, with my camera. I tried pening it in Firefox, in the ActiveX mode, and it opens, but with no picture. When I click on Device Management, to go to settings, I can't. What I get, is a small pop up balloon on lower right, that says 'javascript:administrator0'. Thinking maybe Javascript was disabled, I checked in options, and it is not, it's checked, thus enabled. I am on my pc, as administrator, so now I am stuck. Is there someone who can explain how to make it work, so I can use my camera in ActiveX mode, so I can actually record tings, if need be, when I leave? Thanks in advance. Oh, My Win 7, has the 64 bit OS, not the 32 if that helps.

Firefox does not support ActiveX, it's only supported by Internet Explorer. However, from the Foscam's website it looks like it should work on Firefox too. Unfortunately, since we have no access to the hardware, we can't really help you with that here, but I'd suggest you get in touch with Foscam's support. I'm sure they can help you make the camera work in Firefox: -support.html

Thanks for that reply. I know ActiveX is only used on Internet Explorer. But as I previously stated, the AT&T Tech who helped me download McAfee, that their website only allows downloads with Internet Explorer, and for some reason, IE wasn't working right, so McAfee was not available, but the Tech got control of my pc, installed some sort of software program, onto Firefox, that gave Firefox the same options, as IE has. When that was done, I was able to download and install McAfee, using Firefox, instead of using IE. Since then, I had to reinstall my Windows 7 OS on my pc, so IE now works, but is still a bother using it to RECORD from the Foscam camera. Internet Explorer, is the ONLY BROWSER, that Foscam RECORDS ON, using the ActiveX mode. I can view things with the camera, in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and such, using another choice, the USER PUSH MODE, but that and the other choice, Mobile Phone, will ONLY let you watch or monitor what is being shown, but you CAN NOT RECORD, if it's not in ActiveX mode, using IE. I hoped, that whatever the technician used and installed on my pc, to fool the web into allowing something to be installed, by FIREFOX, and not by Internet Explorer as it was set up to do, would also allow Firefox to ACT like IE again, and allow the ActiveX mode, to work in Firefox. Really, what I am looking for, is probably a patch, that adds IE abilities and runs like IE, to maybe get the ActiveX aspect, to use in Firefox. Maybe I am asking a lot, but I know Firefox worked as if it was IE, to fool the site into allowing it to 'THINK' Firefox, was really Internet Explorer. As for asking Foscam for technical support, I did, and not only did the foreigner get access to my computer, made changes, the changes he made, I had to uninstall, and reinstall the Foscam camera. Outsourcing tech support, doesn't help me much, when it's with someone, that ENGLISH, is not their native language. If I can't understand someone speaking to me, isn't very good in trying to get help. Again, thanks for your reply.

Well, the-edmeister hit it very well. I can remember the IE Tab, in what was installed. I tried installing the link I was given, but something wasn't quite right, so I found -US/firefox/addon/ie-tab-2-ff-36/, installed it, which placed an IE TAB ICON on my tool bar, where I could click on it, to open pages in FF or IE. I opened my Foscam, had no picture, clicked on the icon, to transfer it to run in IE, and all of a sudden, I actually do have the same options in FF, as I would have using IE, but I get to use FF stability, instead. This is great. I had also installed -US/firefox/addon/ie-view/, so a combination of all three of these add on's, allows me to RECORD, not only in IE, but now, in FF. Thank you all so much for the help.

I do understand it is running in IE, but running in IE, inside FF. I am trying to avoid using the IE Browser itself. I personally don't like it's feel, but if Microsoft says you got to have it, if you want Windows, you got to have it. It's the way IE itself is built, I suppose, but I prefer using FF and Chrome, as they are more relaxing for me, than IE has turned into. Trying to get Foscam's camera accurately set up myself, and avoid using Foscam's tech support, is preferred, since my first experience with them. And because using FF is more relaxing for me, that is what I am in the middle of, this very moment. I just set Port Forwarding up on my router, to allow external access to it, from my cell phone. In IE, i had never gotten that far, so getting the FF add on's, certainly did what I needed done. I understand, I may be the only 61 year man, who prefers using FF or Chrome, over IE. But to me, that don't matter, what matters, are better results, from the steps I was shown to take in FF. Thanks for your input.

Hi, I have a Foscam R2 and when I try to use the foscam software it just times out. Im using Sierra 10.12.4 with Safari 10.1. It works on my laptop but that is running El Capitan 10.11.6 with safari 10.0.3, I have tried the plugins form this page. But still does not work. Any help would be great..Thanks

I have a Foscam F19828W PTZ camera wired. I see the camera on the equipment search tool but when I try to load it with a double click it tells me Plug in not found . I downloaded the Patch you posted but as soon as I hit the search tool it goes to Safari and camera page and the message is still on the log in page. ? I am running Mac OS High Seirra 10.13.6. stumped as to what to try next and how do I stop Safari from loading as soon as I double click on the equipment Search tool. I can find it with VMS software but that is limited capability JUST STUMPED hope you can help . I did get it to show me the camera a couple of times.

Install plugin.

Using Equipment Search Tool, right-click to Upgrade Firmware to latest. And then restarting Safari.

Voila! Safari plugin works and am able to get to the camera settings finally.

Just to build on this a little. to access the camera, you have to double click the IP address found by the search tool. The https link will show you a login but it will continue to timeout on you. The link from the search tool will drop the https.

The FI9826P is a hefty 1.8-pound camera that's available in either black or white. If your router has a Wi-Fi Protected Setup button (WPS), you can connect it wirelessly. Otherwise you're stuck tethering the camera to the router via the included Ethernet cable. I went the WPS route and experience a few hiccups early on. e24fc04721
