Into the Badlands is an American television series that premiered on November 15, 2015, on AMC.[1] Into the Badlands has been described as "a high-octane sci-fi martial arts series"[2] and as a "post-apocalyptic drama".[3] The series follows a warrior and a young boy who journey through a dangerous feudal land together seeking enlightenment.[4] On February 9, 2019, AMC canceled the show after three seasons.[5] The series finale aired on May 6, 2019.[6]

Described as a "genre-bending martial arts series", the story is loosely based on the classic Chinese tale Journey to the West. AMC ordered six one-hour-long episodes of the action-drama developed by AMC Studios for a premiere in late 2015.[45] Executive producer Stephen Fung also serves as the series' action director alongside veteran Hong Kong choreographer, Ku Huen-chiu.[46] AMC renewed the show for a 10-episode second season, which premiered on March 19, 2017.[47] On April 25, 2017, AMC renewed the series for a 16-episode third season which premiered nearly a year later on April 22, 2018.[48]

The first season received mixed reviews from critics. The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 54% approval rating with an average rating of 4.72/10 based on 39 reviews. The website's critical consensus reads, "Into the Badlands is loaded with off-kilter potential that's left largely unfulfilled -- although its well-choreographed action sequences should satisfy martial arts fans."[60] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 54 out of 100 based on 29 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[61]

Tim Goodman of The Hollywood Reporter gave a generally positive review and wrote, "AMC finds a bloody, fun and entertaining non-zombie counterpart to The Walking Dead and turns Sundays into an escapist red zone."[64] Maureen Ryan of Variety wrote,

Veil has been one of the most frustrating characters but I was starting to understand her and why Sunny fell in love with her. Its not just her pleasant nature. We saw in season one, that she was willing to challenge others when she was in a position to do so. She was never a floormat when she could help it. The key to understanding Veil is that she was a relatively powerless individual. She had no martial skills, she had no political power, and no kind of social clout, but what power she did have she wielded carefully.

We spent the bulk of our time this season shuttling back and forth between the Widow, Sunny and Quinn, the three major players in the narrative. We watched as the Widow connived, lied, and killed to consolidate her power, falling even further into the dark side.

AMC has announced the premiere date for the second half of the third and final season of Into the Badlands. And because AMC loves us, the network has also released the first photos from the final episodes! So set your DVRs, because the final eight episodes will debut Sunday, March 24 at 10/9c following a new episode of some little show called The Walking Dead. The series will then slide into its regular timeslot, Mondays at 10/9c, on Monday, March 25.

AMC announced in early 2019 that Into the Badlands season 4 has been canceled, so at this time, there is no air date. The news arrived after quite a long social media silence from the official Into the Badlands accounts. The good news is that if you need another drama like this one, you can check out our review of Wu Assassins.

For two of our heroes to regain their Gift, knowing what destruction it could wreak on their minds, means they possibly pose a massive risk to their loved ones and the world at large. We just spent the last season learning that very few can truly learn to control the Gift, and if it is used improperly, it could be devastating.

During a tracking mission of a Dark One, Minerva accompanied Bajie and Cyan. When they found the Dark One, he had been tied up and caged by some nomads. Before Bajie and Cyan could do anything, Minerva marched into the center of the nomad camp and demanded that they release their captives.

By the age of thirteen, she had been captured by the Chaus of the Fox Territory and forced into the life of a cog. Still, Minerva was angry and defiant. She was put into a cold store with the intention of breaking her. After 220 days in the cold dark, she relented and begged for freedom, emerging emaciated and lice-ridden.[2] In the cog pens, she endured years of sexual and physical abuse and watched other cog children suffer the same, which undoubtedly helped shape her protective, revolutionary nature.[3]

The White River Visitor Center in the South Unit is a great place to visit if you want to explore the cultural significance of Badlands National Park. You can speak with rangers about the Badlands in Lakota heritage, learn about the history of the area through museum exhibits, pick up maps, and get your passport stamped. The visitor center is located on the Pine Ridge Reservation and offers a staffed information desk, exhibits, restrooms, picnic tables, and water. Impromptu talks are offered daily throughout the summer season.

As seen in the clip above, Nick Frost's Bajie gets himself into a bit of a scuffle, but a nearby mollusk serves as the perfect impromptu weapon to fight off the first wave of attackers. Once a bigger opponent appears, Bajie switches to a heartier weapon: a jackfruit.

The study focuses on the evolution of the coastal badlands of the Vaches Noires cliffs (Normandy, France). The study aims to provide a better understanding of the functioning of these cliffs with badland morphology and to verify the potential of the TLS (Terrestrial Laser Scanner) tool to quantify the volumes moved and the rates of change. Thus, three related gullies (G2 to G4) with contrasting dynamics were monitored three to four times per year between September 26, 2014 and November 19, 2019. Each gully was divided into nine "Functional Morphological Units" (FMU) in order to identify the respective weight of erosion, transport and deposition of materials related to seasonal subaerial and marine forcing. A global assessment of the evolution over five years shows mainly an ablation in the upper part of the slopes, but also on the flanks and fronts of the crests. The middle and lower parts of the gullies alternate between erosion and deposition of materials while the basal scarp (foot of the cliff) is in progradation. By successively analysing the TLS models, seasonal patterns common to each gully are identified. We observe a pronounced hydro-gravitational dynamics in autumn/winter for all FMUs, a transition period in spring, then a period of relative stability in summer. Quantification of surface volumes transiting from upstream to downstream slopes shows that gully hydro-gravitational dynamics are unequal with periods of low, moderate and high activity between each gully. The volumes of materials produced during high or low activity ("High global activity" (Hga) and "Low global activity" (Lga)) are strongly correlated with the curve of cumulative rainfall.A conceptual model synthesizing the modalities of initiation of the hydro-gravitational processes in the different FMUs is proposed at the end of the article. For each season, the model provides ranges of quantified material volumes in each FMUs and specifies the role of meteorological configurations on the hydric state of marl-limestone slopes, put in perspective with other sites with badlands morphologies. Despite some limitations, the TLS tool remains relevant to monitor and spatialize the evolutionary processes of cliffs with complex topography and rapid morphological changes.

In this context, we aim to constrain the effect of physical rock weathering on erosion rates and their variation over seasonal cycles. We focus our studies on marly badland catchments in the southeast of France. The Draix-Blone Critical Zone Observatory allowed data collection and experiments over the last 35 years and represents an ideal environment for this project (Mathys et al, 2005). The marly badland of Draix are subject strong weathering and erosion processes, caused by a variety of physical processes, resulting in the formation of a spatially and temporally variable regolith layer. Significant production of regolith is observed during the winter and rapid washing of slopes during the spring and early summer (Bechet et al., 2016). Based on regolith characteristics from the field we will build a 1D model of the dynamic of the regolith. Characterizing the seasonal variability and climatic dependence of regolith production is a prerequisite to predict yearly variations in sediment flux and its evolution under changing climate conditions.

We sampled the upper part of the regolith in the Draix catchment, in four targeted places, to obtain grain size distributions and water contents. Characteristics of the detrital cover that affect the rate of weathering. High-resolution photogrammetry records will enable comparing surface changes (roughness, thickness, grain size) over the seasons. Furthermore, we cleaned a 1m surface on a ridge of regolith to monitor weathering processes and estimate regolith production during each season. We aim to repeat this exercise at the end of each season; the resulting difference in thickness removed should represent the new regolith formed

Two years of field campaigns are scheduled. We will use our field observations on the temporal variation of regolith characteristics to inform a 1D model of regolith dynamics. In parallel, the second goal of the project will be to spatialize and implement the latter description into a landscape evolution model based on Landlab (Hobleyet al., 2017) to simulate the effects of regolith dynamics on catchment-scale erosion. The development of this new module will be helpful to follow critical-zone evolution in different soil cover contexts.

After a long day of driving west, we arrived at our first stop before sundown: the Badlands. I had never been there or anywhere like it before, and as we drove into the vast landscape of towering sandy mountains and plateaus, my eyes opened wider than they ever have. We set up camp (how amazing that I was going to be sleeping in the middle of all this?!?) and ran off for a hike/climb/EXPLORE! ff782bc1db
