Download Intel Optane Memory Driver

I encountered a similar problem as Helpme1. It's really bad that Intel's optane app just advises you to disable and re-enable when it can cause very serious issues. I also couldn't boot into windows after disabling optane driver at request of intel, and instead my pc booted into an old installation I had on another drive. BIOS wouldn't let me prioritize the, now failing, optane drive to boot from. After disconnecting the secondary drive I can boot into the Optane drive which still has errors, but I can't re-enable normal functionality and the optane app doesn't start up most of the time, or shows errors when it does. Only way to resume optane functionality seems to be when I allow it to wipe the drive, which I can't because it contains my windows installation and everything else.

Today, I have installed version # 19.5.2.1049.5 from -rapid-storage-technology-driver-installation-software-with-intel-optane-memory-11th-and-12th-gen-platforms.html?wapkw=rst. It appears to show the same version and date I had previously. I have restarted and everything seems to work fine now, but it ALWAYS works fine after a restart, so because nothing appears to have changed, I expect this problem is not fixed (but would love to be wrong about that).

While Jocelyn M's response was pretty far off the mark and did not answer any of my questions, I did download the latest RST from Intel, version 19.5.2.1049.5 at -rapid-storage-technology-driver-installation-software-with-intel-optane-memory-11th-up-to-13th-gen-platforms.html?wapkw=rst

Hello everyone! Hoping someone here has experienced this issue I have spent all day on it. Running my MDT image for a new set of laptops - HP ProBook 440 G8 that have a Intel Optane SSD inside them that is a 32GB memory / 512GB SSD. My image is unable to see the NVMe drive due to it being a 2 in 1 drive and needing the driver I assumed. I added the driver into MDT but still unable to see the drive. I was able to use a Windows USB drive test loading a image manually but still couldn't see the drive till I loaded the driver from the USB that I downloaded to MDT. Not sure if I need to something else to my MDT image to get it to detect the Intel RST driver or Controller for the SSD or if I need to make a new MDT task for it in a way going off of the following link -en/document/c06692694

Hi, The Intel Optane Memory application/driver didn't come pre-installed. I need to know whether removing that will cause a problem. I want it back the way it was. The BIOS has two options for the controller: RST w/ Optane Memory, and ACHI. It's set to the first. I don't have any "Optane" branded memory.

Windows got uninstalled from my system when I was trying to go into the Advanced Startup Options menu and I had to reinstall it via USB with the media creation tool and it only showed the Intel Optane Storage that I could install windows in and then now it says I have only 26.6 GB as my storage and it doesn't recognize the 512 SSD part anymore. Does anyone know how I can fiz this i've been trying for 2 months now. I noticed that I installed it with the intel optane part and I tried to install the drivers while in the windows installation but it still can't find the SSD part.

That command given, you created a pool for the caching using the complete optane memory. Due to thin provisioning capabilities, this pool serves both caching and metadata device needed by the kernel driver dm-cache.

Before you begin the Optane configuration process, there is one extremely important thing you must do before you do anything else: Make a full system backup. That's because if you make a mistake while setting up Optane, you can render the system unbootable. This is especially true if you install the wrong driver (which is easy to do), or if you remove the Optane memory without first reconfiguring the software.

However one thing you could try is Disable the (RTS/Optane), then create a separate partition for ubuntu and try dual booting. If works later the optane memory can be enabled for the remaining partition.

Same laptop model and everything here. You'll have to go into your BIOS settings and switch over to AHCI mode, but the laptop doesn't come with the AHCI drivers pre-installed. So first off you're going to have to go online and get it's drivers. Once you install that (presumably on windows), you can go back into your BIOS settings, turn off RST (disabling your optane) and switching to ACHI. After that you should be able to easily install your copy of Ubuntu onto your laptop.

Dell's have had this option for years, with raid-on the default for almost all hardware even laptops with a single hard drive. Its only an issue with UEFI mode. I have no idea why the kernel developers haven't written a driver for these intel controllers. Its possible that Intel hasn't released the design specs for it. I know its a problem even with commercial releases of linux. Simple because the problem is at a kernel level and not a specific distribution.

Figures right. All the speeds are up to spec EXCEPT the 4k Random speeds. There seems to be something bottlenecking the latency; comparing it to my Sandisk Extreme Pro you can see something's not right. I'm hoping it's either the PCIe adapter or there's a problem with this optane drive itself. If it's the NVME driver/Windows or an issue with the motherboard itself, this is really going to suck.

so... long story short you're trying to use optane as a cache for an ssd? If I understood that right, then there's basically no point. It's been shown by multiple people including The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Linus Sebastion that optane basically does nothing when paired with an ssd. If I didn't and your whole point was that you got optane to function in some way shape or form outside the box intel tried to paint it into then cool, optane is still pretty lame, but cool trick

So after some more tinkering the problem did seem to be with the Windows 7 driver. I disconnected my Win 7 ssd, and inserted another one and installed Windows 10 onto it, updated the drivers, and instantly got the full speeds on it, with 4KQD1 maxing out at 330MB/s. I also tried out the PrimoCache option, and to no one's surprise, the boot time was the same with or without the optane drive, and everyday use didn't feel any different either.

I applaud you for not bowing down at Intel's heels. I have a question for ya. I have 2, 2TB drives (4TB total). I have an ASRock board for my i7-2600 (non-k model). I also use windows 10 as my daily driver. Is it possible to use Intel optane as a cache for my 2 Hard drives so I can speed up my operating system and games without having to transfer everything over to an SSD manually? 2351a5e196
