(this probably works for other soundbars also) I have an LG TV that is connected to an Insignia soundbar via the optical cable. I had a devil of a time figuring out how to get the TV magic remote volume buttons to control the soundbar volume. Here's the trick. Go to device connector and reset the soundbar if its already connected. Go through the connection steps. The TV will ask if it was able to turn off the soundbar. You probably said yes if the soundbar turned off as expected. Say no even though the TV turned off the soundbar. The TV will now try A DIFFERENT SETTING. That's the key. If you can't control soundbar volume with the volume buttons, but you can turn it on and off, or adjust the volume using the three dot More Actions menu, then you need to try other settings. And that means saying no when the TV asks if it turned off the power, even if it did turn off the power. There are additional settings, and some control the power but not the sound, some don't control the power, and at least one had the full control I was looking for. It took me about 10 tries, but I finally got a setting where it was able to control the Insignia soundbar volume using the Magic Remote volume buttons. Keep track on paper of which ones you try but keep trying! Good luck! (Oh and LG, your manual and instructions are TERRIBLE!!!)

I am also having the problem with Insignia TV. I am unable to consistently turn off the tv---it does power down but then flips right back on a few seconds later. Extremely frustrating. Insignia remote works fine.

I programmed the remote using the code search function because when I tried to input a code manually (after holding down TV and Enter), all top buttons flash 8 times as soon as I try to enter a code (after the first digit) - it's not supposed to do that right? I should be able to enter all 4 digits...

I am not having any problems watching Apple TV on my television. I am trying to fully use my Apple remote to turn on and off my television and change the volume. This television is a Smart TV but Apple doesn't control television power, volume or input automatically as on my Sony's. All my Sony TV's make changes to settings automatically. Any help with Insignia TV is appreciated.
