Taylor Swift just released her new album Midnights on October 21, and it's already a record-breaking success. Midnights has earned widespread acclaim from professional critics and casual fans alike, with many praising its first single, "Anti-Hero," as one of Swift's best songs to date.

Anti-Hero is one of 13 tracks on the standard edition of Midnights. The song is mostly about Taylor Swift's insecurities and anxieties in life on both a personal level ("I'll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror") and a hypothetical one ("I have this dream my daughter-in-law kills me for the money"). While most fans have responded well to Anti-Hero, one lyric in the song has left some scratching their heads, particularly among the Swift's younger supporters.

The lyric in question is "Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby," which has confused those that don't know what Swift means by the term "sexy baby." Some are taking the lyric literally, but it clearly isn't meant to be taken that way. The subsequent lyrics are "And I'm a monster on the hill/Too big to hang out" which can be interpreted in a number of ways. One common interpretation is that Swift is expressing insecurity about her age, but beyond that, it's been generally accepted that the lyric is actually a reference to the award-winning Tina Fey sitcom 30 Rock that originally aired on NBC from 2006 to 2013.

In the episode "TGS Hates Women" (Season 5, Episode 16), the Saturday Night Live-styleTGS with Tracy Jordan hires a new female writer who protagonist Liz Lemon accuses of acting like a "sexy baby" to seduce men. She purposefully acts dumb and talks in a high-pitched, childish voice. Considering this, it's possible that Swift is meaning that others are acting in a certain way or putting on a show to appeal to others.

Taylor Swift is not shy about referencing her real-life relationships, feuds, and more in her lyrics, and that fact makes it even likelier that the "sexy baby" line is a 30 Rock reference. As some may recall, there once was some bad blood between Swift and 30 Rock creator Tina Fey after Fey and her comedy partner Amy Poehler made jokes about Swift's love life at the Golden Globes. In response to the jokes, Swift said to Vanity Fair, "There's a special place in hell for women who don't help other women."

Swift and Poehler presented together at the Golden Globes in 2020, seemingly patching things up, though it's unclear if there is still some friction between Swift and Fey. It's possible this line is meant as a knock on Fey, but it's also possible that it's just an Easter egg for fans who are aware of the situation between the singer and the comedian. Perhaps Swift will offer some deeper insight into the Anti-Hero lyrics one day, but for now, the best explanation is that the "sexy baby" line is a 30 Rock reference.

"My Hero" is a song by American rock band Foo Fighters. It was released in January 1998 as the third single from their second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997).[3][4] The song, which reached number six on the US Billboard Alternative Songs chart,[5] is considered a Foo Fighters classic[6] and a staple at the band's concerts.[7]

In a 1999 interview, Grohl said that the song is "'about heroes that are ordinary'" and added that he looks up to everyday people more than he looks up to celebrities.[9] During Foo Fighters' appearance on VH1 Storytellers in 2009, Grohl explained that the song was written while watching 1980s movies like Valley Girl. Grohl also stated that the band wrote the song about Pete Stahl and Chip Donaldson without even knowing it.

The music video for "My Hero"[11] was directed by Dave Grohl.[12] It features a man running into a burning building to rescue a woman's baby, another woman's dog, and finally a framed picture of the first woman. The eyes of both the baby and the dog are blocked out. The camera follows the man throughout the video, with his face never being shown. It is presented in a continuous "long take" format, although actual transitional cuts are disguised by smoke. During shots inside the building, the band is seen performing the song, seemingly unconcerned about the chaos around them.

"My Hero" was ranked by Entertainment Weekly as Foo Fighters' 14th-greatest song,[13] was ranked by Kerrang as Foo Fighters' seventh-greatest song,[14] was ranked by American Songwriter as the greatest Foo Fighters song,[15] and was ranked by Rolling Stone readers as Foo Fighters' fourth-greatest song.[16]

In 2008, Foo Fighters criticized the campaign of Republican presidential candidate John McCain for using their song at rallies without their permission. Foo Fighters responded to the incident, saying:

"It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. . . The saddest thing about this is that 'My Hero' was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song."[17]

The band played a stripped-down, acoustic version of the song during an appearance at the end of the 2012 Democratic National Convention,[19]in which McCain's 2008 opponent, Barack Obama, secured the presidential nomination.

Incredible song!I believe the man does want to be her hero, but he's also posing questions to her that are very relevant to what a TRUE love relationship requires, yet doing so with an apparent vulnerability based on the alternatives he gives when asking the question that would make it something more than just "the here and now".

The words... "Am I in to deep? Have I lost my mind? I don't care you're here tonight." Signify to me that though he's feeling vulnerable, he's also feeling that even if this is all he is to have...it's worth it to him because he truly loves her. You know...the old saying of..."It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all".

When you truly love someone you do cry inside when you see them crying, you would do anything to save their soul, you would die for them, (though not in a physical sense, but to self agandas and ambitions), you do tremble when they touch you in the way "touched your lips" comes across, you would swear that you'll always be with them, stand by them forever, yet at the same time...question if you are in too deep due to the overwhelming need you have to, for, and with that one person. Anytime something is that real, that much a part of you...there is an incredible sense of vulnerability at hand due to the risk you take of losing, not only that person, but also part of yourself which that one person carries with them always.

To me, and I know words can be interpreted differently, when he says..."I will stand by you foreverYou can take my breath away"He is telling her that he is in it for the long haul, that he is totally and completely devoted to her and their love. That when he dies, it will be with her right there beside him, taking the last breath from his body.

Si una vez yo pudiera llegar = If, once, I could manageA erizar de frio tu piel = to make your skin bristle with coldA quemar que se yo, tu boca = to burn, I don't know, your mouthY morirme alli despues = and there die afterwardsY si entonces = and if, after that,Temblaras por mi = you trembled for meLloraras al verme sufrir = and cried upon seeing me suffer,Hay sin dudar tu vida entera dar = you would have, without doubt, all your life to giveComo yo la doy por ti. = as I give mine for you.

Si supieras = If you knewLa locura que llevo = the madness I bearQue me hiere = that hurts meY me mata por dentro = and kills me insideY que mas da = and what more gives (?)Mira que al final = see that in the endLo que importa es que te quiero = what matters is that I love you

Dejame tocarte, quiero acariciarte = let me touch you, I want to caress youUna vez mas, mira que al final = one more time, see that in the endLo que importa es que te quiero = what matters is that I want you

I almost lost my brother on September 11 2001, he is an emt for FDNY. All the men in my family are volunteer firefighters. Although I know this song was written before then, every time I hear it I am reminded that all the friends my family has mourned in the past 7 months loved us enough to run and never look back. They will always be our heros

(Whispered) Let me be your hero

Would you dance if I asked you to dance?

Would you run and never look back

Would you cry if you saw me crying

Would you save my soul tonight?

Would you tremble if I touched your lips?

Would you laugh oh please tell me these

Now would you die for the one you love?

Hold me in your arms tonight?

(Chorus)

I can be you hero baby

I can kiss away the pain

I will stand by you forever

You can take my breath away

Would you swear that you'll always be mine?

Would you lie would you run away

Am I in to deep?

Have I lost my mind?

I don't care you're here tonight

Chorus

I just want to hold you (2x)

Am I in too deep?

Have I lost my mind?

Well I don't care you're here tonight

Chorus (2x)

You can take my breath my breath away

I can be your hero
