I am reinstalling Windows 10 on to this HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab293cl. The hard drive inside has been wiped and reformatted, so no recovery partition is available. After installing Windows 10 v1809, I checked the Diagnostics at startup, and it gave me an error Short DST failed. The hard drive is giving no indication whatsoever that there is an issue with it, so after some research, I see that certain drivers may have been installed out of order.

2. If there are multiple drivers then which one should I install. For example, Driver-Graphics has below 7 drivers, including Intel, AMD, and Nvidia. I don't believe that there are switchable graphics in this laptop, so I don't think I would need AMD or Nvidia. Intel has 4 drivers titled Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver (one of which explicitly states it is for Win 10 v1803). Which one or should I install all of them?

The HP Driver Packs contain the Microsoft Windows drivers in .INF-based installation format. This INF installation method can be used standalone or with bare-metal operating system deployment tools that require .INF-based drivers. Select 32-bit or 64-bit to see a list of platforms (notebooks and tablets, workstations, and desktops) and the respective driver packs under the operating system.

Recently my notebook's brightness stopped working. Pressing FN+F5/F6 shows the Windows 8 brightness slider, and it goes up/down, but doesn't adjust the actual brightness. Changing it manually through the control panel does not help either.

I have updated my display drivers a few days before, so it is possible that the update broke it, but I don't know for sure. I did a driver rollback, and now the problem has changed a little bit. Now, if the slider is on 50%-100%, the actual brightness is 50%. If the slider goes below 50%, the screen goes black.

What should I do? Is this a hardware problem or a software problem? Could my adapter/battery be the problem here? I'll try to install an older version of the drivers if someone can tell me where I can find those. e24fc04721
