If the printer is connected to the computer with a USB connection, the feature for scanning to computer is enabled by default and cannot be disabled. If you are using network connection, follow these instructions if the feature has been disabled, and you wish to enable it again.

I have tried Scan and Print Doctor 5.1 and asked it to fix scanning. On the doctor, Step 2 is Finding and Fixing Problems. This has 8 stages. The doctor cannot complete the fifth, which is Windows (WIA) Scan. This applies for both of the printer installations.

Looking through the list of recent questions on this site, I see many people complaining they can't work scanning in Windows 10. So I am assuming that parts of the HP software is incompatible with Windows 10 64 Bit. Is that correct? If so, how long till you develop a fix? Your instruction sheets suggest that an 8710 WILL work with Windows 10.

I'm trying to copy an old family photo for my grandma, and the HP OfficeJet 8710 appears to be scanning the photo incorrectly at random. It's kind of hard to explain so I'll upload pictures near the bottom. The same steps I go through to copy the photo sometimes works and sometimes doesn't work.

I have also had massive amounts of trouble with my Brother printer scanning to a shared drive on the Synology NAS of late. Used to work seamless until I am thinking the last software update

Mucked around for a few hours last night and from the printer interface I changed the network folder path to folder\folder to folder/folder. The print scan test function started working again. But when I try to scan to the network drive from the printer I get a "can't find folder" error message again-- Driving me nuts.

I have changed nothing on the NAS and scanning to a Synology drive used to work- Now it has stopped working and everything I tried doesn't work.

Anybody else having similar troubles and any possible solutions?? I can use a USB stick to scan to for now but would like to get the scanning to a network drive to work as it dd before.

Unfortunately this had a knock-on effect of disabling the "scan to folder" option in our HP printers (HP OfficeJet 8600 and HP OfficeJet 8710), and HP are not forthcoming with any form of fix or even a response as to why their relatively new printers (in the case of the 8710) still exclusively use SMBv1 for communication with no new firmware slated for release.

As our business depends heavily on a lot of scanning, we have implemented a workaround - we have allowed SMB1 on one Linux server, and all printers scan to shared folders on this Linux server. a cron job (scheduled task for you windows-only types) runs once a minute, moving any files which have been placed into these folders across into their correct location on the windows servers.

This adds a small delay after scanning before the file appears, but the users have not noticed this delay. My concern is that this "quick hack" in the absence of a proper firmware update from HP will end up becoming a permanent fixture in our network topology. The security implications are lessened by the fact that eternalblue won't be able to affect the linux machine, as the exploit is a combination of OS-specific buffer overruns and protocol vulnerabilities, and the worst that could happen to the Linux machine is some confused syslog messages. From a security and reliability perspective though, SMBv1 is less than ideal and antique.

Perhaps spin up a dedicated VM for the scanning team and set up a monitoring process to make sure the VM remains active. That would keep it use specific and insulate your scan team from from any ups & downs on the IT server. 2351a5e196
