My application's main icon consists of two parts in one image: a logo and a few letters below it. This works well for the launcher icon for the app, but when the icon appears on the left edge of the ActionBar, the letters get cut off and it doesn't look good.

I would like to provide the ActionBar with a separate version of the icon, with only the "logo" part and not the letters beneath it, but so far have been coming up empty. I honestly can't find any answer to this, and I can't even find the question itself anywhere.

The ActionBar will use the android:logo attribute of your manifest, if one is provided. That lets you use separate drawable resources for the icon (Launcher) and the logo (ActionBar, among other things).

If you are using AppCompat, the only way to set the ActionBar icon on devices running Gingerbread (API 10) or below is by setting the android:icon attribute in every Activity in your manifest or setting the drawable programatically.

Update: Be warned however that the application icon will be overridden if you set the android:icon attribute on the launch Activity. The only work around I know of is to have a splash or dummy Activity which then launches your main Activity.

Inspired by TheIT, I just got this to work by manipulating the manifest file but in a slightly different fashion. Set the icon in the application setting so that the majority of the activities get the icon. On the activity where you want to show the logo, add the android:logo attribute to the activity declaration. In the following example, only LogoActivity should have the logo, while the others will default to icon.

Perhaps it is a very simple thing but it took me some time figure it out. In Win10, with VScode, using the rigth button of the mouse over the toolbar you can control the icons that appear on it. In my case, PlatformIO was unchecked (I do not know why?). I selected it again and it worked again.

The closest I've come is installing dconf-tools, running it, going to org -> gnome -> desktop -> background and checking show-desktop-icons then org -> gnome -> nautilus -> desktop and checking the icons I want to show.

If the issue persists, can you provide a few more details? What do you see in place of the home icon? Which iPhone and iOS version do you currently have? Also, does this happen with the Work favorites as well?

Hello. I've just recently refreshed Firefox. Before I did that, I had a home icon next to the round refresh icon on the upper left of the menu. Now I don't have it. And I can' click to the home icon to get a new home page of Firefox! And I am NOT a happy camper. Did you all forget to put that on there or what?

I've made websites in the past where a simple favicon suffices and the website icon on the iPhone displays properly. However, when using Bootstrap studio, even when entering all the favicon information, I'm having trouble with this step. When I add to my iPhone's homescreen it shows up as a screenshot of the website itself. I've also tried adding favicon.ico and favicon.png manually to my hosting. Any suggestions would be welcome!

I never have issues with favicons, but I don't get too fancy with them. I just create one in Photoshop, save it as a .png, and then use one of the many online favicon generator websites to create the .ico file. I drop it in the BSS website export folder, upload to server, and it's always worked fine.

You can specify what icon your app should use by including a tag in the of your page. If your page doesn't have this link tag, iOS generates an icon by taking a screenshot of the page content.

I really do not know how this happened. A pop up window appeared on my Samsung phone (Android 12, One UI 4.0) regarding MS Launcher and I followed through.

I then saw an icon on my home screen which seemed to serve no purpose. I couldn't delete it, clicking or long pressing also did nothing. There was also nothing I could find in the Microsoft Launcher's menu that deals with this.

After spending some time with this, I learned what it was. In my phone's Settings \ Accessibility \ Installed apps \ Microsoft Launcher is listed and this can either recreate this issue or remove that icon.

To be honest, I really do not think I initiated the sequence of events where that pop up window from MS Launcher appeared.

At any rate, here are a few screen shots and if anyone else runs into this, they'll know where to deal with it. You'll see the icon on the right side of the screen in all of its different forms.

Does anyone know how I can find out what the icons mean on my STBs? The "User Guide" on the Verizon site is an install guide, not a user guide. I can not find anything with these icons described. On my DVR and STBs I have a flashing house icon. What does it mean???

We have recently updated from 8.4.4 to 9.2.5 and noticed that pushing the Grafana home icon redirects to /login instead of the Home dashboard.

Every time a user wants to return to the home dashboard they only have to push de Grafana home icon, but with the new version, this is not working.

I just downloaded the Obsidian app on the iPhone and I was wondering if there was an option to change the app icon? I think it would be cool to remove the white background and make it transparent or dark so it better matches dark theme on iPhone.

Used icons from Big Sur icon - after that screenshot, I switched to the icon from that link with a lighter background, and suspect all this really needed for me was not having harsh rgb(255,255,255) white surrounding the icon.
