"Here (Lucian Remix)" by Alessia Cara is a song about feeling out of place at a party or social gathering. The speaker apologizes for seeming uninterested and indifferent, but expresses the desire to be at home alone rather than surrounded by people who don't care about her well-being. She doesn't dance or need a boyfriend and doesn't want to be hit on by anyone. Instead, she finds herself in a corner smoking marijuana with a boy who is yelling so loudly she can hardly hear herself think. The speaker is not impressed by the party and wishes she could be somewhere else with people she feels more comfortable with, discussing big dreams and plans for taking over the planet.
The chorus is a repetition of the first verse with the speaker wondering why she is there and expressing the desire to break out of the party and leave. The bridge shows some hopeful anticipation of leaving the party and finding somewhere better to be, while the second verse talks more about the speaker's desire to be with her own friends, rather than those at the party, and her annoyance with the gossiping girl and a boy who is throwing up because of being drunk.

Overall, "Here (Lucian Remix)" is a song about feeling like an outsider at a party and wanting to be somewhere else, surrounded by people who understand and share the same values and aspirations. The speaker is unimpressed by the superficiality of the party and longs for a deeper connection with others.
I'm sorry if I seem uninterested
Or I'm not listenin', or I'm indifferent
Truly I ain't got no business here
But since my friends are here, I just came to kick it
But really I would rather be at home all by myself
Not in this room
With people who don't even care about my well-being
I don't dance, don't ask, I don't need a boyfriend
So you can, go back, please enjoy your party
I'll be here
Somewhere in the corner
Under clouds of marijuana
With this boy who's hollering
I can hardly hear
Over this music I don't listen to
And I don't wanna get with you
So tell my friends that I'll be over here
Tell me they love it, they want me, they need me
Surrounded inside of this room by the gritty
It seems like these women is needy
But all they've been wantin' and needin' is money
She callin' me honey, I know that she lyin'
And all she want from me is everything high end
The ladder, the ladder, she love it, she climbin' above it
The higher she gets, she gets no vision from it
The second she plummets she's gon' be right here
The second she plummets she's gon' be right here
At the bottom with killers and dealers
Now they say that diamonds' forever but never explain
That the diamonds fillin' up your safe cannot fill up the pain
I hope you'll understand that I'll be here
Hours later congregatin' next to the refrigerator
Some girl talkin' 'bout her haters, she ain't got none
How did it ever come to this? I shoulda never come to this
So holla at me, I'll be in the car when you're done
I'm stand-offish, don't want what you're offerin'
And I'm done talkin', awfully sad it had to be that way
So tell my people when they're ready that I'm ready
And I'm standin' by the tv with my beanie low
Yo I'll be over here
With the over-saturation of remixes in dance music, at times I tend to skip over the majority of them, but for some reason I didn't with this one. That reason was pretty simple. Alessia Cara is incredible, and I'm completely obsessed with her.
Despite the unrealistic demand for remixes these days, Lucian shows us that there is a proper way to do things. It's a bit deeper than "does it sound good?" It's more of "does it make sense?" His rendition is not only coherent, but it sounds pretty damn great.
We introduced you to 19 year-old Def Jam-signee Alessia Cara when she released her debut single Here and since then it's grown and grown on us. Aided by her flawless cover of Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, her voice just continues to reveal itself as a soulful thing of beauty. New York beat-maker Lucian, who's remixed for the likes of Aussie's Alta and Sampha, has taken the track and given it a healthy injection of bass. However, he begins with lush keys and crsytalline beats, highlighting Cara's voice in its optimum atmosphere.
I want to real quick visit a track that dropped last week, because it's kinda great and I was just way too busy to get it up. When it's this good tho I have to give the love, and this is such fire! New York producer Lucian is winning with his new remix of "Here" by Alessia Cara, I'm actually kinda swooning a bit! These sexy future vibes are on fleek, and you can grab it as a free download HERE! What's better than that? Nothing!!
I'm guessing most of you heard his TRNDSTTR Remix that released way back in 2015 with one of the best drops of all time imo. I for one thought he was gonna be huge, and he's followed it up with some other great tracks like Infrared, Fly by Night, and Hero, while steadily releasing new music. But when I tried looking up tour dates, pictures of him, a name, anything I came up empty-handed. Even his official website bio seems tongue-in-cheekily vague, only saying "Lucian is a NY based producer who first started releasing remixes and singles in the Fall of 2014." ff782bc1db
