I think this might be a regional thing or an Americanization, but these people I know are always saying "gustas" or "te gustas" when asking if I want some food. They're of an older generation and from Mexico City. I'm not gonna grill them on their speech but I was wondering if r/Spanish had any insight.

A remark regarding usage. I'm not very sure what you mean exactly by I like you in English (from a person to another). But in Spanish, if you say me gustas, this is in a more-than-friends sense. In a just-as-friends context, it's better to use me caes bien or me agradas. I think me gustas is more like I have a little crush on you. Be careful with that.

As @vartec said, me gustas is correct. A great way to think about gustar in English is to imagine a word gust that means the opposite of disgust. Just like you would say that person disgusts me, with this imaginary word gust, you would say that person gusts me, meaning he or she pleases you, the opposite of disgust.

The vast majority of the time, you'll use either gusta (if one thing is liked) or gustan (for more than one thing). It's rare that you would need gustas or gustamos, and there are other, better ways of conveying that meaning. See Liking People below.

Gustar is typically used to state that you like things, not that you like people. While it's not out of the question to say something like Me gustas t ("You are pleasing to me") or Les gustamos ("We are pleasing to them"), those expressions can indicate physical attraction and should be used carefully. You're better off re-wording things or using the phrase caer bien:

In this exercise you give the statement: "Me gustas mucho." In all the info at this site I only see gusta and gustan used (singular and plural) which I understand. Could you please explain this form of guitar?

Hello Lynne! I think I can explain: If you say "Me gusta mucho", you mean "It pleases me much" (I like it). If you say "Me gustan mucho" you mean "They please me much" (I like them - people or cakes, same thing), and if you say "Me gustas mucho" you mean "You please me much" (I like you) - and if you say "Me gustais mucho" you mean "You please me much (I like you - plural)

3) Listing the things he likes. He's trying to think about all the things he likes to see if they can help him find out where he belongs.Me gusta la Corua, me gustas tuMe gusta Malasaa, me gustas tuMe gusta la Castaa, me gustas tuMe gusta Guatemala, me gustas tu.He likes ALL of those places and more. But which is truly for him? That's why he doesn't know what to do and is lost.

me gusta esta cancin! ~_^ I agree with little girl, it is funny. i love it. i think my favourite part is "me gusta la vecina, me gustas t, me gusta su cocina, me gustas t" -- i like my neighbor, i like her kitchen. lol. and the hint of sadness displayed by the chorus is contrasting and interesting.

For what it's worth, here are my two cents:This song brings to mind two people, in love, making love all night long. In between every phrase is "me gustas t" (i like you, or literally, you please me). Also, in the chorus, we constantly have "que horas son mi corazon" (what time is it, my heart/dear). In the background you can hear a radio clock counting out the hours, going from eleven at night to 5 in the morning. As for the list of things he likes, I don't think I could find too many things I dislike while making love. Let me know what you think of this idea. 006ab0faaa
