So far, I checked out HIREN ( and USB Booting | Hiren's BootCD PE) and SpiceWorks how-to on creating a multiboot USB ( How to: Creating the Ultimate USB Multitool., Creating the Ultimate USB Multitool.) Microsoft MDT doc (Create a Windows 10 reference image (Windows 10) - Windows Deployment | Microsoft Docs) Something that looks like HIREN customization (Create bootable Hiren's Boot CD and add Ghost32.exe - YouTube) Slipstreaming thread (Slipstreaming Software into Windows ISO? - #8 by Peanut253), HIREN (Hiren's Boot CD Alternative) Adding software to HIREN (Adding software to Hirens Boot CD) What do you keep on your USB toolkit (What do you keep on your USB toolkit? - #14 by Sam104)

I have domain admin rights and access to create VMs. I created a CentOS server and installed Free Open-source Ghost aka FOG ( ). FOG supports PXE network booting, so we deploy our images over the network. FOG can have multiple images stored that can be deployed to machines. You can also boot to live images. We use this feature when we have to perform some data recovery, we can boot into partedmagic on the affected machine. It also supports BIOS or UEFI boot options, which require access to the DHCP server of the network.

Awesome looking disk!! unfortunateluy have not been able to use it yet. Tried on a couple newer laptops with 7 on em no luck loading correct cd drivers (hbcd folder not found) ive neen using hirens for about 4 or 5 yrs with much success. Thanks forr your hard work and great looking tool look forward to using it in the future.

Hi,

I just wanted to ask a question I think I know the answer to but figured I would ask. Currently I work as a tech support for a few temp agencies and want to use your boot CD it seems much simpler/time saving compared to Ultimate Boot CD.

Hiren's is still pretty good for what I use it for - hardware debugging and messing with partitions or resetting passwords. Most other stuff I just boot to the computer and use a DVD with AutoPatcher, CCleaner, ADWCleaner,ComboFix, Hijackthis,MBAM, and PC-Decrapifier on it.

I have to wonder about the legality of the mini windows OS on it. I use the other tools on it, once booted the mini XP just for heck of it. I don't know how legit that part of it is so I try and avoid it if possible.

No idea if it has already been added (either in this thread or on the newest version of the bootcd), but the SysinternalsSuite would be a nice addition. As are CrystalDiskInfo and CrystalDiskMark.

I've just added UBCD, Trinity RCD, and Falcon4's UBCD to my original Hirens. Made it usb bootable. Took some tips from RMusbPrep Opens a new window, added some handy Linux distros such as Kali and Tails and made it easy to upgrade (simply swap iso's) when I find new versions. PortableAppsPlatform Opens a new window added some postboot utility that is easy to update. Put that all down on a neatly partitioned 32gb SD inside a highly compatible usb sd reader and voila! My own variant that is easily manageable. I have it boot into an isolinux environment with the option to switch to grub4dos, this adds more flexibility and boot options. I have too many tools, but is too many tools really a problem. I would love to be able to share this great tool but digging through the licensing would be treacherous, I suggest you dig into your Hirens and tailor it to your needs.

As it as a UEFI type BIOS, I'm wondering how I can image the machine in its current state, wipe it, install Win10, or dual boot it with Android and put it back to how it was without too much trouble. I'm pretty sure traditional tools like Norton Ghost might not faire too well.

I have been using HBCD since it came out. I started using it only for personal stuff. The most common thing I use it for now is SeaTools. The latest version I have with me is 9.0 so I can't comment on newer releases but I tried v10 one time and did not like it for some reason. I think Norton Ghost was updated and did not work with my systems at the time. I tried booting HBCD 5.0 (just for giggles) a few years ago but the disc was no good.

Norton Ghost is one of the best tools that can help us create disk image, backup selected partitions or any important file. And you can boot into the Norton Ghost recovery environment with a recovery disk to restore image backup or troubleshoot other problems.

Here in this part, we will tell you how to make Norton Ghost bootable USB in Windows 10/8/7. Although the whole process is kind of complicated, all you need to do is read them through. Or if you prefer an easier way to create bootable USB as well as a free PC backup tool, you can refer to the next part to get it.

To create Norton Ghost bootable USB, first, you should format the USB flash drive to NTFS and then copy the contents of the Norton Ghost recovery disk to the USB. Here we take make Norton Ghost 15 bootable USB as an example.

Insert the recovery CD and copy of its files to the bootable USB flash drive. Or if the recovery disk is an ISO image file, you can mount the ISO with a virtual drive program and then copy the files to the USB driver.

As you can see, the whole process is kind of time-consuming and you may meet some unexpected errors because of improper operation. And do not forget that it only offers you a 30-day free trial version. Why not try one free Norton Ghost alternative? It offers more powerful backup options compared to Norton Ghost and can help you create bootable USB in only a few clicks.

I have a disk image (ghost) of the disk need to be restored, and believe the ghost.exe should run from bootable USB with DOS, but I can't seem to create it. My laptop does not have a a cd-rom or floppy drive.

I managed to find a Ghost utility that I could load from a bootable USB drive. Unfortunately, when I plug in my NTFS external drive (USB), it is not detected.

It allows you to create bootable USB drive easily. And you can also choose to create an ISO image file so you can burn to any removable devices. Besides, the bootable media is possible to boot any version of Windows.

How about give it a try? First download and install it on your computer and then follow the steps below to create bootable USB as well as create image backup. Please remember to backup your USB drive in advance, because it will erase all the data.

Now you have created a bootable USB that can help boot your computer, then you can create system image or other backup types according to your needs. Just choose one backup option and follow the wizard to make it. Besides, you can set scheduled backup to make it auto run daily/weekly/monthly.

Please note: a more recent Windows 10 PE-based version (HBCD-PE x64) is now available here which supports both UEFI and legacy booting to mini-windows and includes many useful utilities.

This tutorial describes how to include the HBCD ISO file on your grub4dos multi-boot USB drive so you can boot to a mini-XP on most PCs and Notebooks directly from the ISO file. For more information on what utilities are contained on HBCD please visit the web site here.

Note: If you want to extract the contents of the HBCD ISO file to your USB pen (i.e. format the USB drive, copy the files within the ISO onto it and then install grub4dos) you can simply add this menu entry to your existing grub4dos multiboot \menu.lst file, which will then use the /HBCD/menu.lst file that will be on the USB drive after you copy the HBCD contents over:

You can also try booting from the USB drive by using a real system and changing the BIOS boot order so that it boots from the USB drive. You should see your grub4dos menu. Use the cursor keys to select the Hirens Boot CD entry and press Enter. A little later you should see the Hirens Boot CD main menu, as shown below:

Other utilities may still not work correctly from just an ISO file (depends on what version of Hirens you have). To fix this you will need to copy the files from inside the ISO to the USB boot drive as follows:

In order for the Hirens DOS Programs menu to work correctly, we may need to make and copy a DOS image file to the \HBCD\BOOT folder on your USB boot drive. Hiren as made this easy however as you can create this image file and copy it within mini Windows XP as follows:

Easy2Boot (E2B) is popular multiboot USB solution that also contains agFM and Ventoy. It supports both Legacy and UEFI.

Simply copy on your bootable ISO files to the E2B USB drive and boot! Boot to DOS, Linux, Windows Install ISOs (XP>Win11),

automate Windows installs, WIM files, VHD files, images of flash drives, Linux ISO+persistence, etc.

E2B is unique in that it uses partition images which allows you to directly boot from Secure Boot images (no need to disable Secure Boot or run MOK manager or modify your UEFI BIOS). 2351a5e196
