Hi. Windows 10 troubleshoot found "generic audio driver" problem. I am using "realtek high def" and "nvidia driver". Both updated. (checked from asus support and from nvidia) even reinstall the drivers again. Used different ways to solve the problem but still cannot get the sound in games. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks.

Good Day! Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! Hope you are doing well. I understand that you need assistance with audio when connected via HDMI. I will be more than happy to assist you here.

Thank you for trying to help me. I did all of the updates you suggested with no change in any of the conditions. I also confirmed the HDMI cable by using it with other devices and it checks out good. The Beats control panel still only shows speaker and the sound still only shows Speaker/HP, I have checked "show disabled and disconnected devices" and nothing shows up. When I run the Sound troublshooter it stills says Generic Audio Driver - Detected with a yellow triangle and an ! inside it. When I look into the generic driver it says it is "Play Sound using Microsoft HD Audio driver" Is there some way to select which Audio driver I am using?

If nothing works, please contact HP phone support to order a new set of recovery media and perform a recovery to factory settings. Then you could update back to windows 10 again. Before updating back to windows 10 please ensure that you take a snap of the device manager window for the correctly installed audio drivers under sound audio and game controllers.

Hello I still have not solved my audio problem but I have some information. Found under device manager for my Realtek High Definition Audio - Event ID 441 - Source Kernel-PnP. It also notes "Device HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0290&SUBSYS_103C229D&REV_1000\4&3887bb06&0&0001 could not be migrated" the date for this event matches up with when I lost the audio to my HDMI output.

Audio problems raise their ugly heads on Windows PCs when you least expect them, although the activities that happened prior to a sound problem might explain why it occurred. Audio issues can happen after a major Windows update or upgrade. They could be the results of audio driver glitches, audio device issues, software conflicts, or malfunctioning Windows services.

If the issue started occurring after you updated your system, a driver update may be the cause. With the Device Manager, you can easily reverse the damage by removing the problematic driver and installing the previous driver.

The program performs routine checks to flush out driver-related issues. It finds device drivers that are out of date, missing, or corrupt and then installs their manufacturer-approved updates. It can also save backup copies of previous driver versions, which will be used whenever updates act up.

I've been working on a program for a specific audio device. This device comes with its own official drivers, but it also supports the generic USB audio driver supplied by Windows. I've found that my program only works on the generic driver.

So what I ended up doing is using DevCon, a command line utility that's included with the Windows Driver Kit and can replace the functionality of the device manager. Then I just used the ShellExecute function to launch a batch file with the DevCon Update command when I wanted to load the first driver, and used a second batch file to reinstall the original driver when I wanted to switch back, using the exact same method.

New to C4 here. General question. I am working on a system that has a couple of sources which need not / cannot be controlled via IR or otherwise (i.e. Sonos and a Wii). Note: I am aware of the EV sonos driver, but don't want to deploy it.

Not to force comparisons, but Savant has what they call a "generic audio source" for instance. Makes your switching happen, but doesn't populate a UI page with a bunch of stuff that doesn't work. Is there something similiar in Composer?

well as asugarbe noted there is a Wii driver in composer, as for the sonos (since you have choosen to not have any control of it via C4) build a generic driver and simply don't include any commands, or simply use one of the other game drivers and rename it.

I suppose one could make that argument. That said, I do find the Sonos UI to be very good. Once the client gets used to the ol' 4-finger swipe there's nothing to it. Will be taking a look at the EV driver soon.

I am unable to use a Samson USB CO1U microphone on a PC running XP, SP3. When I plug it into the USB port, Windows generates the sound indicating that it has found new hardware, and the green LED on the mic lights. But, it does not work, and the device manager reports that it cannot find a driver after searching. The same mic works on a Vista machine. 2351a5e196
