My account is reporting almost 30 unique visitors over the past month or so that I've been in development. The app is only installed on four devices. One of the devices is wi-fi only, and is not hooked up to a phone carrier or data plan.

So how is a 'unique visitor' defined? My current theory is that because I have uninstalled and installed the application on these devices a number of times, that each new install has become a 'unique' visitor, but I'd like to know if my theory is true or not before this gets launched in the app store. Is there some other reason my unique visitor count would be so high? Or possibly a common mistake I could be missing?

Yesterday on Monday I had a reported 29 unique visitors from the previous week, with no activity on Saturday and Sunday. I very carefully performed four uninstall/installs and one 'refresh' (just installing/running the program without uninstalling it). I then removed the google analytics ID so that no more data could be sent.Analytics now reports that there were five visitors on Monday (in the graph that I click next to 'unique visitors') but a total of 35 Absolute Unique Visitors. Those numbers just don't add up.

I then realized that the date range in the top right hand corner was not the full range of time that my analytics account had been activive - but only a month. When I narrowed the date range to just the Monday, it accurately portrayed 5 absolute unique visitors. So my numbers were jumping around wildly as each day, the start date to my range changed.

To put this in perspective.. I've worked on a few app code bases with the developers... One one of the code bases (covering 7 or 8 apps) the default Firebase tracking significantly under counted the page views, I wouldn't be surprised if it missed visits or visitors entirely.. especially for short sessions. The other code base (covering 3 apps) significantly over counted the page views....

Thanks again for your input here. I am just trying to figure out how I can prove that my unique visitor and visits counts are correct specifically for Android devices on the mobile app in our Adobe Analytics workspace. Is there any approaches you might suggest for that?

To turn visitor announcements off, turn off your display notifications. You can also use Do Not Disturb to temporarily turn off visitor announcements for your Google speaker or display.

If you want just a "global" counter. Id recommend you create an SQL Database for that where you store the current visitor count and increment it each time the user visits and receive the current count on app startup to display it.If you want to track the different users of your app that are currently using the app, you could generate an identical id for each user and store it in your SQL Database when the user first opens the app and increment the counter. For that you will of course also need a table where the ids are stored. When the user closes the app, you will need to connect to the database again and remove his id from the table and decrement the counter.

Now, I know that extracting the Advertising ID is possible through a straight forward API (See this: Advertising ID - Play Console Help). However, I want to know if it would be possible for me to extract the Android Advertising IDs of all my visitors using the JS file that Piwik uses to track performance.
