The easiest way to know who is what type is to go to your character screen and arrange them by role this will group all the tanks together and tell you what group they are in so you know for your challenge. You can also do this when selecting a team, the groups will always been ordered the same way I put them (tanks, damage, support, control).

A tank is a hero in the middle of the defense. You want a tank to be as sturdy as possible, and have a special that either helps their fellows to fire/survive/fire harder or to prevent firing/hinder the enemies as much as possible.

Tanks serve the most important role of any defense. Their role is to ensure that your other heroes survive long enough to fire. They are meant to fall, but if done with the right support, their individual sacrifice means the survival and triumph of your other heroes. Good tanks do the following:

The best tanks are the ones people fear to face. Ones which can last forever and affect/ damage the enemy teams performance. Someone like Guinevere will heal, provide a purple buff AND cut mana. Yunan will soak up tiles, do both DoA and DoT AND give a healing inhibition. Kunchen will soak tiles, heal his team and lower enemy defence for the snipers.

Agree in theory, but often, those taunt heroes have really high HP/def, and on short rosters, they can end up being the best tank option. I run Krampus as tank in many war defense situation because he takes a beating better than anyone else on my roster. I pair him with Brynhild on the wing to try and heal him fast and make his taunt undispellable.

Tank is a class of Hero in Heroes of the Storm. Tanks are designed by their role of wading into combat, absorbing attacks from enemy heroes and blocking their retreat. There are currently 13 Tank heroes.

Tank Heroes is a fun action and strategy game where you try to defeat enemy tanks by perfecting your aim. If you're a fan of Worms, this adventure might remind you of fighting against other users or the AI. Get behind the wheel of powerful tanks, improve them, sharpen your aim, and defeat anyone who tries to get in your way.

In Tank Heroes, as in Worms, you can alter the scenario by opening fire. Is a mountain blocking your shot? Shoot at it to remove it. Choose your tank and improve its parts to get more powerful abilities and characteristics.

One of the strengths of Tank Heroes is its various game modes that keep you hooked for hours: story mode, where you kill enemies controlled by the AI; survival mode, where you try to get as far as possible; and online mode, where you play against others in real time in battles where only the most powerful tanks survive.

Doomfist continues to take the bottom spot on the tank tier list, for two main reasons. First, he is incredibly difficult to play well. Second, he is easily shut down by a ton of abilities in the game. Doomfist must be used as a dive tank, leaving your team defenseless while you attack. You need to punch enemies and pick them off, otherwise you won't be successful. His abilities need to be used in specific order and losing even one ability usually results in death. His biggest issue is that any kind of crowd control can cancel one of his abilities, breaking the combo and getting Doomfist killed. Combine a difficult ability kit to master with a tank that doesn't actually do much tanking for his team, Doomfist is a bad pick in most scenarios.

Winston suffers from a lack of tactical usability. He needs to jump into and out of combat constantly to stay alive and his main defensive tactic is a large shield. He continues to be an excellent pick to deal with snipers since he can jump to them, but up against any high damage heroes in close range he gets melted quickly. He doesn't deal a ton of damage, so if a Reaper shows up, he will lose every time without help. In a meta that prioritizes big tanks that can absorb a ton of damage and deal a ton, Winston suffers from a low damage output. He has his uses in certain situations, but he can also be quickly dealt with by damaged heroes and can't fight back well.

This tier list will help you learn more about what tank heroes are viable in the Mid Season 7 Patch of Overwatch 2 so you can figure out which heroes are strong currently and climb the ranked ladder much easier.

He simply lacks the polish and damage other tanks have in the game, although he can be a nuisance, and is seeing play in higher ranks when paired with a support like Kiriko, he does offer enough value for your team.

With CC immunity and mobility, this hero excels in skirmishes and getting easy picks with his ultimate onto mobile heroes. Despite the value that Cardiac Overdrive offers, not many players will be able to use the ability optimally once he goes live. Although he is a good matchup againgst Roadhog and Wrecking ball and Bastion, damage heroes can easily pick him off as his giant hitbox can be devastating in fights.

He is unable to deal with Zenyatta, but the power he holds can be a game-changer. A solid tempo tank pick that can be a hard carry when paired with the right backline and kill key targets pretty successfully.

A solo carry superdiver in solo queue, you can get great value from pushing her abilities to the limit and secure crucial picks onto enemies. Despite being a bit underrated, she still struggles to keep up with other more viable tanks in the game.

A very solid pick, despite not having any peel options, she does great in terms in survivability and damage. In order for her to shine, you will need to play more aggressive, but your composition will need to compliment this playstyle, otherwise you would be better off with playing a different tank hero.

A small hitbox, survivability, and great close and mid-range damage, this tank hero is the whole package. She can easily bully out enemy tank players, but her ultimate is not as strong as the top tier tank heroes in this list.

This wraps up our list as we have also included the unreleased hero Mauga just to compare his relavancy in the game to other tanks so we can have a better understanding of his new abilities and potential for growth in higher ranks.

There are all sorts of vastly distinct heroes to play around with in Activision-Blizzard's MOBA-tinged FPS, Overwatch 2. Indeed, much of the appeal of the game is trying out a brand new hero and playing around with their unique abilities and skill sets.

When it comes to the three major categories - DPS, tank, and support - the tank role can be a huge game-changer for players who know what they're doing. A good tank can really help dictate the pace and even outcome of a game in Overwatch 2, given their array of skills and ability to take the brunt of attacks. These are the titans of the game; most of whom can take a wallop.

Updated on September 29th, 2023 by Hodey Johns: The last time this list got an update, the game was still called Overwatch. With that game dead and a new game taking its place, it became necessary to update this list for Overwatch 2. There are a few new heroes as should be expected, one of which used to be listed as a DPS hero. There is no way to make a list like this without some element of controversy, so let it be clear that the best tank hero is more about player affinity and talent than simple design. This list measures tendencies across all skill levels and ranks but gamers who disagree and experience better or worse than the list would suggest should understand that is perfectly normal.

In a full 6v6 game, there was plenty of room for one of the two tanks to be a self-healing tank that grabbed opponents and tugged them to their doom. But with no shield, he's a liability as the team's only tank and there are now not enough players on a team to guarantee a death against hooked enemies.

Overwatch 2 has been a disaster for Roadhog who has the lowest win rate and pick rate among all heroes, not just tabks, by a healthy margin. Roadhog has a challenging rework coming up and it will have to be a good one to restore one of the most overlooked tragedies of Overwatch 2.

The only really good thing about Winston is that he used to be dead last and now he's only second-to-last in the new game. The issue is that tanks are responsible for defending their teammates. Winston does have a shield that defends large groups, but it's limited to those around him.

And therein lies the issue; for him to do anything, he has to be in melee combat, so his protection is extended only to melee targets. Finally, his strategy of rushing into combat makes him hard to heal. The Winston mode is a fun gimmick but he's not a superior tank at the moment.

Zarya's ultimate ability is likely the best in the game, not just among tanks, but among all classes. Teams wait for it to charge, then use it to gather groups and kill them en masse. She's frequently selected in professional groups that just need one moment to seize a win.

While she dominated the 5v5 format at first, her win rate is now unimpressive. With only one tank, groups often rely on consistent shields or frontline mayhem. Zarya's two shield bubbles have long cooldowns and she has no real mobility to speak of. The game's strongest woman is in need of a buff. 006ab0faaa
