Lately, I started experiencing problems with my IPTV while downloading something at high speed (Steam or uTorrent). Ok, not a big problem, can wait. It also had some kind of a slow response (but good speed when things start "going") through Wifi, when browsing from phone... Also, not a big deal, I'm not in a hurry and rarely using Wifi and phone for browsing at home.

Ok, good, so far. IPTV still having problems, probably not because of the router, but their servers, but then.... Let's install that new game from Steam. Ok, it's downloading... downloading.... and f***** downloading... barely reaching 17-18MB/s which approximates at around 140Mbps. Wait, why do I have a 500+ Mbps down and up speed, if I can only download my game at 140Mbps? This was something new, because previously I was downloading at around 63-64MB/s which is more than 500 Mbps.

Download From Steam Slow

Ok, no panic, let's do another reset, turn off everything else, just leave my PC on (only phones were connected over wifi, doing nothing). Still a FAIL. There is no chance at all to download at normal speed again. And the worst thing - everything else around (while downloading at 140Mbps) is very slow and unresponsive. IPTV at 1080p doesn't work at all.. pages load slowly. When downloading is stopped, I can go to sleedtest and test 500+/500+ down/up without problems. But while Steam is downloading at those 140Mbps, speedtest can barely hit 10Mbps.

Hey, you probably have problem with Steam. No, i don't. After being unable to deal with the router, a minute later I connected my Cat6 ethernet cable from modem directly to my PC and the download speed on Steam immediatelly rocketed to where it should be. In the same time, pages were super responsive to load, everything was opening. In a long time of using the router, i already forgot how does it look like, when everything opens instantly...

So, guys, what can I do? Should I say goodbye to the router, because it's at the end of it's life? Or there is something I can do? I am tired of those endless reading all around where guys change their router firmwares more frequently than socks... I am just not that guy.. I don't mind updating from time to time, but only when I have time for it... I just want my devices to work...

Just uploaded the V1.0.9.42_10.2.44 firmware.. and it's even better than it was before with my older firmware. At least pages in browser open instantly. On a 2 GB game from Steam, I was able to reach 44MB/s (more than twice the broken .90 firmware). Will try something bigger in size, to check the max speed.

Ark has always, consistently, for years; been ridiculously slow with update downloads (on top of its many other technical issues). I frankly have only gotten the idea to ask why now, out of curiousity. I know that Ark doesn't recompress it's files after steam decompresses them for download, unlike almost any other game ever and that's partly why the file is huge and may be a contributing factor to this but what's the main cause?

The same thing happens to all the steam game shortcuts on the desktop. They take 20-30 seconds to load, but if i click on them through the Steam icon in the task bar or through the Library, they load up instantly.

Well guys, i purchased a few games on steam and went on to download them (total size about 650GBs). The problem is the download speed is limited to solid 1.2MB/s (9.8Mbps) and doesn't move either way even a single kilobyte. Tested my connection with speed test and it's as it should be - 998 Mbps up 985 Mbps down (1Gbps optic symmetrical). Checked the router if i have any speed restrictions on my ports, but nothing. Checked all of the settings in Steam and still not a single restriction or limitation is enabled. Cleared the steam download cache and yet it stays locked solid at 1.2MB/s. The drive i download to is a PCIe gen3 x4 m.2 drive so it's not it either. With that rate i'll have to wait for the end of the day to finish the downloads.

Thx for the hint on the region. Changed it to Germany, restarted steam, then changed it back to Bulgaria (my default), restarted again and it worked. Not getting to max speed again, but 600Mbps is much much better and more acceptable than 9.8.

Some suggest switching to flatpak version of steam. I question that.

This user f.ex followed the advice to switch to dnsmasq but without success. Then it just suddenly started to work after a while. Pretty sure it had nothing to do with dnsmasq.

Anyone noticing major issues with running windows now on steam deck from the sd card? I did this last year and had no issues but then deleted the os and went back to a normal SD card usage. Now that I reinstalled windows on a SD card I'm finding its running slow and I am regularly using 100% disc usage (according to task manager). I have noticed also major lag when waking the device up. Any suggestions? I have removed bloatware and have disabled non essential app during start up. Just curious if it's a software issue or if my memory card is the issue (using too of the line sd)

Yep I agree with Nick & Ben, but I would also note from an earlier Post you made in another Topic that you have removed the HIGHMEMFIX=1 entry from your fsx.cfg [Graphics] Section.

I know not of what goes into a FSX:SE fsx.cfg apart from regular FSX entries. I have never used anything but FSX:MS Gold AccPack, but I'm sure Dovetail Steam put that missing essential HIGHMEMFIX=1 entry in the config by default, FSX:MS users must add it manually. Removing it will have performance ramifications, wide and varied. Please reinsert the entry.

Before I bought FTX Global Base Pack was the same problem with default scenery after the restart PC. I know is someting with Window Prefetch and I think something happened after the Windows 10 Fall Creators update I'm not sure. But basically is not a big problem for me because I'm restarting the PC very rarely but I'm sure that problem wasn't there before. I read on Steam Community about this and couple people have the same problem they think is something with REX 4 Texture Direct from Steam store.

I just installed Arch, I3, Nvidia drivers, Lutris and Steam. One game I play by lutris (Vanilla World of Warcraft) seems to run perfectly, but steam games are not working that well. Games seems to launch normally, but very slow and the games are running extremely slow! I wonder where I should start the troubleshooting, could it be missing steam libraries, configurations or maybe related to nvidia drivers?

If you can confirm that the nvidia card is being used, there's a chance dxvk might not be used as it should. You can check by adding "DXVK_HUD=1 %command%" to a game's launch options in your Steam library. You'll get an on-screen display in the corner of the screen showing GPU + driver version, and framerate. If you don't get that, then dxvk is (perhaps incorrectly) not being used, in favor of the much slower wined3d (?).

I'm using PC, instead of laptop. And I'm playing native linux games on steam which have worked perfectly before with same setup on ubuntu and manjaro. I did install proton aswell, but haven't really needed or used it.

Okey! I still need more time to study what initramfs modules are and how to do changes there, but here is what I have done this far. I'm taking it quite slow to avoid breaking anything and trying to understand every step as well as I can in given time. Lets see what happens after boot now.

Ouh, my graphics are broken now. I see many vertical lines on my screen and bad resolution. I think I need to work from CLI to fix this. Not excatly sure what to do. Boot from arch installation media and do the chroot thing? I have only done that during installation, not sure how it works now in this situation. Looking it up is quite difficult with phone. I'd be greatful for quick tips for now.

One thing I noticed was that Steam was slow as hell, not the internet speed (as Original War being ~1.3GB took 20 minutes to download) but the Steam Client itself. If I hovered over a menu option it would take 5-10 seconds before it would highlight and about that long to do what it would do after I click. Likewise when going into a text box to type in my username and password where I have to wait a few seconds for 8 characters to appear. When I try moving the window I click and drag the title bar but it doesn't follow and it can take more than 10s for the window to catch up to the cursor.

As I said this isn't an internet connection problem as at the same time I was on the internet (looking up where the Steam Games get downloaded to) and also about 20 minutes to download over 1GB is a new record for my laptop regarding something that isn't a torrent. I also know my laptop wasn't slow itself because Chrome and Explore was working just fine.

I think it's because of the HDD/SSD (your main drive) being too full. Also from personal experience, having cleared up some space on my main drive and used a disk clean tool to clean up temporary files, steam seems to be working normally now for me.

So I'm currently on CX 12.2, running on 10.6.8 with a GMA 950 MacBook. Ever since around CX12 or so, I've noticed that my Steam experience has taken a major dive for the worse; network activity is extremely slow, with the Steam client seemingly stuck on the "Updating Steam..." screen for a good 10-15 minutes. As I write this, I've been able to get it to finally finish installing, but after putting in my login details it's been stuck on the login screen now for about 20 minutes. Earlier, when I was trying to install Half-Life, it was stuck on "Installing..." for about a half hour before I finally quit out of CrossOver entirely.

I did a search but didn't see anything else pertaining to this. When I'm running Steam through CrossOver, the download times for games is ridiculously slow. It appears to download decently for a few seconds, then stop downloading entirely for a few seconds. Internet seems to work without hiccup, HD videos in Youtube stream just fine. Not sure what might be causing it. ff782bc1db
