You will need Microsoft Visio Standard or Professional in order to view and use these stencils correctly. The files listed for download on this page are .vss (Visio stencil) files within .zip files. Some of the .zip files contain Microsoft PowerPoint files in addition to Visio files. The PowerPoint files contain .emf (enhanced metafile) vector images derived from the Visio drawings. These may be copied and pasted into PowerPoint and other applications without requiring Visio.

Editions of Microsoft Visio that have an online subscription also have the ability to search for shapes in a number of third party stencils hosted by Microsoft. For example, searching for the word "Tile" shows that it is also found in an online stencil, which can then be selected and downloaded. This will download the whole stencil in your My Shapes folder in a sub-folder named after the third-party provider. These stencils, and all of the master shapes within them, are immediately available to use in the current and subsequent sessions. These stencils have been vetted by Microsoft and are safe to use.

Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) Visio MVPs are Visio experts who freely answer questions and offer solutions, tips, and suggestions, most often in the Visio discussion groups. You can find often stencils of shapes on their web sites.

There is 600 IT stencils older than 2019 because I have them and organizations are still using them. You'll find items from 3Com, Adtran, Avaya, Avocent, BlueCat, BlueSocket, Chatsworth, Dell, Extreme Network, F5, Foundry, IronPort, Juniper, Linksys, Netgate PFSense, Nortel, Palo Alto Network, Polycom, QNAP, Radware, Riverbed Network, SonicWall, Sourcefire, TippingPoint, Vyatta, and ZyXEl.

There is only 509 current IT stencils, sadly most vendors does not update them frequently. You'll find items from Cisco, CommScope, CyberPower, Datwyler, Dell, HellermannTyton, HPE, Juniper, Kubernetes, Microsoft, Panduit, Raritan, Synology, SYSTIMAX, TP-Link, Tripp Lite, Unquiti, Uniprise, Veeam, and VMWare.

@nickydd9 @DarrenOC I think the official answer on Visio Stencils is -collateral/cisco-meraki-visio-stencils/ but like with most vendors they tend to range from out-of-date to painfully out-of-date. My colleagues and I have made this known internally, not sure what the mechanism is for keeping the stencils up to date, I will look into it again and make some noise.

It would really be nice if creating and updating these templates was part of the product release cycle instead of a mere afterthought.

"Oh look, the new WAPs are out, ah nice! The stencils are available when you can buy the device, so you can make an accurate diagram first time around!"

I do a lot of graphic design on the side and I just accepted a role that will require me to spend more time designing networks then configuring or troubleshooting (Senior Network Analyst woop woop!). I typically use the defaults on Visio 2016 but they are so bland to me now. I am wondering if any of you have stencils that are both aesthetically pleasing and very functional for your drawings!

May I ask where these colorized clipart/stencils come from? I cant find them among the visio stencils or any of the marketing resources and I really prefer them and not the line drawings, however the library is missing a few items i believe, like balance 3/580x, sdx/pro?

I would reach out to your SE or AM and see if they can't pull these from internal resources. It took about a month after the 5200 series was released to actually have the Visio stencils released publicly.

"Their detailed stencils allow us to deliver graphic computer system diagrams that are easier for our customers to use and they even customized shapes and stencils to our specifications in a timely and effective manner. Working with them has been direct and personalized."

Support for Visio file formats is a very recent addition to the LibreOffice package. Initial support, in Version 3.5 just released, includes import of .vsd files - work to support .vss (stencils) is, I believe, ongoing and making quick progress. [Currently not sure if the stencil support is planned for the 3.5.x release, it may be 3.6]

In my own experience, moving between Visio and AutoCAD or the other direction has always been a bit awkward. I no longer have access to Visio but if you want to save one of your stencils as a DWG from Visio I am happy to take a look.

Does anyone know where to find visio stencils of APC products? I would like to add some APC UPS's to my drawings but have found no stencils on APC site. It seems most all vendors supply stencils for their products. I'm not sure why APC doesn't do the same. It seems to me they would want their product show in a presentation.

TIA

any stencils we have are generally posted on the documentation tab of the APC SKU page. for example, _index.cfm?base_sku=AP8641&tab=documentation - very last item on that page. if you can find your cooling unit on the website, you can check there.

It is rather unfortunate as Tripp Lite offers a complete and I do mean comprehensive array of VISIO/OmniGraffle stencils.

[Tripp Lite| |Visio & OmniGraffle Stencils]

I have been left resorting to using theirs to fill in the gaps since APC has seen fit not to release any. Were I a competent vector artist I would just create my own, but I have a company to run, project plans to draft and of course products to sell.

When I contacted sales about Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer, I was told one of them would convert photos and other images to Visio (.png I think) stencils. I would IDEALLY like to do the following:

These used to be available at fireverse.org but after about 20 minutes of searching on their site I can't seem to find them. Attached is a copy of the stencils I had downloaded from them at some point, not sure how old these are. If someone can figure out where these are located on fireverse's site I'll be more than happy to link them and remove the copy I have attached to this message.

The recent SK article might not require registration, but that certainly has not been the case for years. Check Point was using a third-party to create stencils which DID require registration...who would then contact users about signing up for ~$1000 annual subscription.

@Stephan Bisser, do you happen to know if there are stencils for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint? I am not able to find any on the web for the new naming convention. Or any of the icons on the first picture of this link. Thanks!

Here is a compiled list of our Visio stencils through the years. Please keep the requests coming and we can continue to push for a formal maintenance process for this benefitial documentation method. If you feel we should focus on more online tools like Lucid please let us know in the comments! Cheers and happy diagraming. 0852c4b9a8
