I understand that Gameloft was a more mobile games focused (for those who didn't know they recently closed a couple of studios to focus on PC gaming, mainly their Disney games because of the success of Dreamlight) so they are used to a different target market.

The studio first opened in 2012, with a focus on the development of free-to-play mobile games. For the story, if you don't care about other players - you're playing only for yourself and you're fine with drastically slow progress, it's possible to go through it without paying, though it will take years and you still won't be able to unlock everything, as some items are locked behind payments, where even gems are not enough. This, compared to being able to beat the game and unlock everything within about a day if you're a millionaire as everything - - - everything can be bought, it's like purchasing cheat codes or something. For a mobile game like this it is fine to progress slowly, but the impact real money has is ridiculous. Every single screen begs you to pay for something.

I stopped playing it after they cared about adding more paid content and adding the ridiculous vip system more than fixing game breaking bugs, that players were constantly reporting. This game was designed mainly to beg for money, like majority of Gameloft's games and mobile games in general.

Perhaps I'd understand that if the prices were reasonable, but $500 spent (for the record, the game legit considers a possibility of paying more than $1000 and rewards you for reaching that mark lmao) in that game isn't as much as one would expect. For that you could buy a legit console or many really worthy games, rather than just few silly unlockables in a bugged mobile game. I'd prefer to pay once, let's say even $50 to purchase the game, but be able to fully experience the game properly afterwards. MTX cause balancing issues and this game is a madness in that regard.

Gameloft has long been a big name in mobile publishing, but the company's latest hit, Disney Dreamlight Valley, is exclusive to consoles and PCs. Shortly after its September 6 release, it was revealed that the game built up a player base of one million, and parent company Vivendi attributed the game with driving a 48% year-over-year jump in Gameloft revenues.

Speaking with GamesIndustry.biz, Gameloft general manager and CFO Alexandre de Rochefort explains that the expansion to consoles and PC is driven by a desire to turn the long-time mobile specialist into a major cross-platform publisher.

If console and PC efforts like Disney Dreamlight Valley continue to be successful, Gameloft would be open to the idea of porting them to mobile devices. De Rochefort acknowledges while mobile gaming commands a large market share of the industry, Gameloft has been somewhat too reliant on it.

"There's a lot of talk about mobile because it's been the fastest growing segment of the video game space, but in our opinion sometimes we tend to overdo it and that's us a mobile gaming company talking to you here," he admits. "But we tend to forget that console and PC segment is half of the market or slightly less than half."

He further explains that figure has been the same for the past six years. De Rochefort attributes the earnings split to having Gameloft's IPs available across different platforms such as its Asphalt series, which is on mobile, PC, and console.

Starting in 2019, ESL and Gameloft partnered to run Asphalt 9: Legends esports tournament as part of the 2020 ESL Mobile Open. Our focus was to take this notable, arcade-style racing video game (part of a series of Asphalt titles developed by Gameloft for mobile devices) and develop its esports potential.

The partnership with Gameloft became a vital part of the activation through their own innovative mobile game development, which opened the door to mass participation. With this deeper and tighter integration, the app creatively encourages players to participate regularly with various push notifications and in-app communications.

Gameloft continues to launch new mobile games featuring iconic Disney and Pixar characters and stories with the launch to come this year of Disney Princess Majestic Quest and Disney Getaway Blast.

Jones Day represented plaintiff Activision Publishing, Inc. in a suit against Gameloft S.A. and Gameloft, Inc., which began selling a music game for mobile phones that Activision alleged was an infringement of its copyrights in the audiovisual materials and packaging for its famous Guitar Hero video games. Activision further alleged that the name of and certain screen shots for Gameloft's mobile phone game infringed Activision's trademark and trade dress rights in the Guitar Hero games. As alleged in the complaint, Gameloft's misconduct constituted violations of the Copyright Act, Lanham Act, and California statutory and common law. Following Activision's filing of a motion for preliminary injunction, the parties reached a confidential settlement of the matter.

To showcase this mobile gaming innovation, Gameloft will host a 24-hour live stream event on March 17, 2014 on their Twitch channel: The broadcast will begin at 10:00 AM PDT and will feature a walk-through of all the streaming options, interviews with the development team, and a Q&A session with Twitch viewers.

The new CSI: Miami mobile game will put players in the role of lead investigator, collecting evidence and interrogating suspects.
