as the title indicates, whenever lightdm starts the background is black, even though I have changed the path in greeter conf to the image I want to have as my login background. I tried running it with `lightdm --test-mode` and it sorta worked. I couldnt really move my mouse on that window or type but the background was there. So I'm assuming it has to do with permissions.. or maybe I'm wrong idk
I had the same problem. In my case, I noticed that background images stored in /usr/share/backgrounds work but images stored in my home directory don't. My solution was to move target images to the /usr/share/backgrounds/ folder, then change the config to point to that location.

Well I figured it out that this attribute display image when the full location is provided in it. I simply uploaded that image on my server and linked the location of that image in the background-image:url("xxxxx.xxx"); attribute and it finally worked but if you guys don't have server then try to enter the complete location of the image in the attribute by going in property of that image. Although i was using this attribute in tag of an HTML file but it will surely works on CSS file too. If that method didn't work then try to upload your image on internet like behance, facebook, instagram,etc and inspect the image and copy that location to your attribute.. Hope This will work
Basically the problem is with file path.The forward slash in the beginning of the url makes it look for the file at the root. Removing that, it will be a path relative to this css file - like this: background-image: url(img/debut_dark.png);

I am connecting remotely to a computer on LAN and it keeps giving me a pitch black desktop background (wallpaper). In the RDC (Remote Desktop Connection) program on the local computer I have the option "Desktop background" enabled.
Check the group policy settings on the remote computer (the computer you're connecting to)! There's a remote session policy that controls whether or not the desktop background (wallpaper) is displayed when a client connects to the host. The name of this policy is "Enforce Removal of Remote Desktop Wallpaper".
You should now be able to see and change the desktop background on the remote computer, from the local computer. But you will still have to enable the option "Desktop background" in the RDP (remote desktop protocol) client (i.e. RDC on XP/Vista/7/8) when you connect to the remote. Thank you! That worked to move the background image. But I am still wondering why another image that I place on a separate layer covers all other layers, EVEN WHEN it is the lowest layer on the editor timeline. Yes, I have dragged the layer to the lowest point in the stack of elements on the timeline. But the image still appears to cover all layers above it, both in preview mode and when on an actual mobile device.
