I have been thinking of switching to a Duo 1, but i do not like the lack of ability to have floating apps which has been a part of Android since A7. I read that the app "Floating apps" worked on the Duo at one point, but then stopped working after an update. Can anyone confirm whether or not this app still works on the Duo 1?

Uptodown is a multi-platform app store specialized in Android. Our goal is to provide free and open access to a large catalog of apps without restrictions, while providing a legal distribution platform accessible from any browser, and also through its official native app.

I wan't to prevent Floating Apps in my App because i created an exam app. I want to implement if the user can't open any browser. i already implement the kiosk mode for locked the user in the app but it is not enough because the user can still open the floating apps on their phone.

So I am coming from an Oppo Find X5 Pro and I really liked the sidebar and how it worked, you'd open the apps from there and they'd be floating making it easy to have two apps opened on the screen. Can this be done on P7P, if so how? Or is there an app that can do this? Thanks

Ever since I downloaded android 13 and one ui 5.0 on my Samsung fold 4, I've had some super annoying issues. Whenever I use a floating app such as YouTube or Google meet, I cannot no longer tap anything on my screen. Swipe gestures sometimes still work, but taps are mostly nullified.

I've made a initial hack on this, but it's not perfect. It'll work for apps that are in your floatapps[] at the beginning of rc.lua, but it won't for apps that start in tiling mode and then you send it to float with Ctrl+Mod+Space.

Thanks Barghest. The last e-mail from this link helps a lot, though it only works with apps that are in "floatapps" (in the beginning of the file). I've made some changes, so it works with any app that is floating, it doesn't matter if the app is in "floatapps" or not.

Floating Apps are a series of applications, each of which runs as a (re-sizeable) window instead of the typical full-screen most Android Apps do. As a result, you can run multiple Apps at the same time to enhance collaboration experience. For example, in the following picture, a floating App, NT Browser (web browser), is running along with the whiteboard App, Note.

So my final version is: When the resize handle is touched, a new semi-transparent floating view is injected above the original window with the same size and position and it's resized instead of it. When resizing is finished, the new size is applied to the original window.

It sounds like you're referring to the multitasking feature which allows you to have two apps open at once called "Split View". If that's right, to close the second app window "tap the Multitasking button in the app that you want to keep, then tap the full screen button . Or you can drag the app divider over the app that you want to close.". Those steps can be found under "Make adjustments to multitasking windows" here: Use multitasking on your iPad

One of the major features of multitasking on the iPad is called Slide Over. It lets you use a second app in a floating window above a full-screen app. It's useful, but mastering it can be tricky. Here are some tips.

Slide Over is a way to multitask on the iPad. It displays a primary app in full-screen mode and secondary app in a small floating window on the left or right side of the screen. The Slide Over window can be quickly dismissed and called back when needed, making it ideal for checking information from an app quickly while working on something else.

Not every app supports Slide Over, but most official Apple-made apps do. Third-party developers must specifically choose to support the feature for it to work properly. There is no master list of Slide Over supported apps, so you'll have to use trial-and-error to see if your favorite apps work with it.

iPad's other major multitasking feature, Split View, displays two windows side by side with a black divider in the middle. It is designed for using two apps at the same time in a situation where you may need to continuously reference each one or move information from one to the other.

The main difference between Split View and Slide Over is how much screen real estate each app takes up while using multiple apps. They also differ in functionality, each being suited to different types of tasks.

To fully close a Slide Over window so that it doesn't pop up again if you swipe on the edge of the screen, you have to do some gesture gymnastics. You'll have to go through Split View first, which is a feature where two apps can be used side-by-side in a larger view.

Lift your finger at the edge of the screen, and the two apps will now be in Split View mode. You can now close the unwanted window by sliding the black partition between the two windows all the way to the edge of the screen until one window disappears.

To get rid of the Slide Over window, use its control bar at the top of the window to drag it to the side of the screen until it replaces one of the Split View apps. Then you can close the window by sliding the black center partition all the way to the edge of the screen until one window disappears.

To create a floating app bar, place the app bar inside aCustomScrollView that also contains the list of items. This synchronizes the scroll position of the app bar and the list of items. You might think of the CustomScrollView widget as a ListViewthat allows you to mix and match different types of scrollable listsand widgets together.

You can use Full MirrorLink | Floating App to open multiple apps at the same time! All you have to do is connect your car to your phone through MirrorLink and enjoy real multitasking.

From a very early age we have an intrinsic obsession with things that float. Why do you think we love balloons and bubbles so much? So, it's no surprise that our smartphones are being invaded by floating features.

Facebook popularized the idea of floating on-screen objects with their chat head notifications on the Facebook Home launcher. Inspired by these floaters, Paranoid Android came out with HALO, an application on their custom ROM that allowed persistent notifications to be streamed in one place via a floating icon.

Until recently, no one has been able to replicate the HALO feel for stock ROMs, so apps like Floating Notifications were the next best thing. But recently, Paranoid Android open-sourced HALO, and that means good things to come in the world of on-screen floaters.

So there you have it. Portal is a great floating notification app that allows for great multitasking and easy access to your notifications. Let us know what you think about Portal in the comments below.

You can either activate Bubbles - which will allows compatible conversations to be displayed in Bubble view. Alternatively, you can also choose Smart pop-up view - this will allow you to select from a range of apps to appear as a bubble but can also be expanded to Smart pop-up view.

Floating apps have become emblematic of Android's unique flexibility and range. No other mobile OS allows non-system apps to directly interact with users and overtake the screen while another app is supposed to be in the foreground. This capability allows for a powerful and customizable user experience, but it can also quickly become a problem if an app is poorly implemented or its developer abuses this privilege for malicious purposes.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow is setting some new rules for drawing on the screen. Starting with Developer Preview 3, apps targeting API 23 (or above) will have to ask users to grant permission for them to draw on top of other apps. This won't be done through the new  la carte-style permission system with friendly pop-up dialogs, but instead with a more daunting context switch to a list of toggles like we're accustomed to visiting after installing a new software keyboard.

The system permission in question is named android.permission.SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW and it has been around since API Level 1. The developer documentation is fairly brief, describing it simply as a way to open a window on top of other apps and warning developers that it's only intended for system-level activities.

Facebook Messenger debuted "Chat Heads" just over two years ago, giving users a perpetually available tap target on their screens to quickly see and respond to messages. While Messenger was far from the first app to make use of a floating UI, it can be credited with popularizing the feature and the now-familiar floating bubble interface. Since then, quite a few notable developers have either added floating elements (e.g. LastPass and MusixMatch) or built entire apps around the functionality (e.g. Link Bubble).

While there's no official explanation, the reasons for locking down this permission aren't hard to guess. The ability to draw on top of other apps is a profoundly risky proposition, especially given that the Android OS doesn't add any decoration to signify a background app is responsible for content on the screen.

One interesting detail has surfaced thanks to the Developer Preview Issue Tracker. A Googler responded to a question by noting that the SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW permission had been "raised to be above dangerous." Android permissions are technically ranked as either 'normal' or 'dangerous' as described by the protection levels. (Note: 'signature' and 'signatureOrSystem' are also options, but they aren't relevant to this discussion.) In rare instances, certain capabilities have been given special attention because they necessarily have to grant very high-risk access to be functional. Some examples are input methods like software keyboards, and device administrators like Android Device Manager, which has the ability to initiate a factory reset. Drawing on top of other apps will now rank in this exceptionally high-risk category. 2351a5e196
