To use all the features in the Fitbit app, you must grant the Fitbit app permission to access certain features on your phone. For example, if you want to add Fitbit stats to a photo, the Fitbit app needs access to your camera.

Add Fitbit widgets to your Android phone, including the activity goal widget and widgets that allow you to quickly log activity, food, sleep, and more. The activity goal widget allows you to view your progress toward your daily activity goal directly from your home screen without opening the Fitbit app.

Fitbit App Compatibility Requirements. The Fitbit app is compatible with most popular phones and tablets. To set up and use your Fitbit products and services, you must install the Fitbit app on a compatible device running one of the following operating systems:

Fitbit Premium requires a Fitbit or Google Account, Fitbit mobile app, compatible Android or iOS device (see fitbit.com/devices for specifications), and internet connection. Content and features are subject to change, are not available in all countries, and may be in English only.

I have a Fitbit Sense and a Moto G7 phone with Android 10. I noticed my phone was gradually getting sluggish over a few weeks. This was affecting all apps. It got to the point where even the onscreen keyboard would sometimes freeze for 20-30 seconds at a time. I uninstalled the Fitbit app, and that immediately fixed the issue. All my apps were fast and responsive again!

I reinstalled the Fitbit app, and it was fine for a few days, but my phone gradually started slowing down again. I'm using less than half of my phone's storage, so storage space isn't the cause. I contacted Fitbit support and they told me to clear the Fitbit app's cache and then force stop it. That fixed the slowness again. I suppose I'll have to do this a couple of times per week.

This was a system update from Motorola. Your phone likely got the update automatically by now. Unfortunately, the symptoms came back after a couple of weeks. I ended up fixing it by buying a better phone. I'm now using a Google Pixel 4a 5g, and everything's working great.

I received a Sense 2 as a gift to replace my Versa 2. The Sense 2 was working great for a month until February 2, when it stopped syncing to my android phone. When I try to sync it from the app on my phone, it tries, but then shows an exclamation point in a circle in the Sync Now area. None of the data from my fitbit loads to my phone. How can I fix this?

It seems that your Sense 2 cannot connect properly to your Fitbit app since you haven't yet forgotten the connection between your old watch and the phone's Bluetooth which would explain the connectivity issues you're running into. With that said, try the steps below:

I bought an iPhone. Lol. Used with a cracked screen, I got it for cheap off eBay. The Zip syncs with it instantly and that data gets sent up to the cloud and back down to my android phone almost just as quickly. I installed the Fitbit software on the iPhone, loaded the app, turned off the display and tossed the phone behind my computer on a charger. Now my zip syncs pretty much the moment I walk thru the door. The blasted thing spends all day unable to sync with my android phone, but as soon as I get within range of that iPhone, it syncs.

The FitBit app for Android has always been buggy with issues that affected some phones more than others and it doesn't surprise me that it's the same with some Windows computers. But with the release of Android 9, the sync issues affect pretty much every single phone running that version of the OS.

We just dug out an old Galaxy S8 with android 8 on it and it also still syncs well with the Zip. These older android phones can be used the same way that we're using the broken iPhone; just give the phone power and park it somewhere in the home and let it act as the Zip Sync Station. It's a bit absurd, but no less so than removing and reinstalling the battery multiple times a day, which very definitely puts excessive wear on the battery door and battery terminals.

Another frustrated zip user. I found a cheaper solution than an I phone. Garmin vivoki Similar product and phone app. Syncs seamlessly and is compatible with my health insurance company. I too am using an older Android phone

It is obvious to me that the problem is the app itself. Some change in the app caused the sync problem. For Fitbit to blame the phone or the version of Android is ridiculous. I've been using version 2.89 of the app on my Samsung J3 with android 6.0.1 for two days now, and there's been no problems with sync.

If you install an older version of the app, the issue becomes preventing the app from updating to the latest version. If you have auto update turned on, you will need to turn it off for the fitbit app.

Thanks ScottAllyn:) I have now deleted the app from my LG phone, updated the FitBit app on my PC and sync once a day to it. You do have to "force the sync" the old fashion way, however, it's better than:

A few days ago my Sense would no longer sync to my Fitbit App on my Android phone. I have tried everything. (I uninstalled the app, turned the bluetooth off, rebooted my phone, have cleared my app's cache, force stopped the app, and now tried to re-pair my device to the app.) My Sense has now disappeared from my Fitbit App and I cannot get my app to connect/sync with my Sense. HELP!!!

The 'Find my phone' function on my Fitbit Sense appears to be glitchy. If I have my phone with me and with the Fitbit app open I get the tone/siren loud and clear but the moment I don't have the app open the siren stops. Sometime my phone emits a 'pip', other times it's just silent. But as soon as I have the app open the full siren immediately starts up again.

Thank you @Guy_. The app worked well and found the phone connection. Again, the Find My Phone function works well and the phone rings loudly but only when the Fitbit app is open and onscreen. As soon as I return to the Android homepage the ring/tone stops functioning and becomes a 'peep' instead. Have tried 'cloking' the Fitbit app in recent apps and turning off battery optimisation and ticked to ensure that processes can run in the background but nothing seems to help as yet. Suspect it's a OnePlus software issue...

@Raz124 - probably a phone configuration/version issue, some other people have also found the noise generated by the phone a problem, have a search in the forums for similar cases, it may have been a different phone model.

I believe I may have isolated why this was happening to me. I discovered that Versa 2 does not like being paired and connected to multiple devices at the same time. I didn't realize that my Surface Go was also paired and connected with the Versa 2. I also have the Fitbit app on my NUC Desktop computer but not paired. So I unpaired the Surface Go with my Versa 2 and no more issues on my Android phone. So, the Versa 2 is paired with the Android phone and the Versa 2 sends the information to the phone via the Fitbit app. The app is updated with the latest Versa 2 information and displayed on all my windows devices through the Fitbit App without them being paired directly with the Versa 2. Maybe this will work for you.

On a regular basis, all trackers in the vicinity are listed ('discovered') by the phone. The trackers then indicate what their ID is, and if they have been recently synchronised (~15min.). In case they have not been recently synchronised, the device establish a connection with the tracker (using the tracker ID), upload its data to the fitbit server, and erase it from the tracker.

In the last few years, there have been some updates made regarding required Android (and IOS) phone versions. These requirement changes were not widely publicized, are difficult to find, and are sometimes listed with conflicting information. In some cases, if you had the Fitbit app already installed and running on an older phone, you could continue running but without some of the newer features, but if you deleted the app, then tried to reinstall, it would not let you because your Android version was too old.

Try restarting your phone and retry. Since you are using an Android device please make sure you are saving the app on the phone's memory not on any SD card. You can sometimes fix issues with apps not downloading on the Google Play store by following these steps (look below), then restart your phone the try downloading the Fitbit App again:

Thanks I've now found and turned on the Tiles but I am not seeing a live heart that changes as the fitbit itself does when I look at it. I see graphs and charts..? I'd just like to be able to view a real-time heart rate number on a screen..

Hi @Scottishstar, with the kindle when you're turning on the Bluetooth make sure that your fitbit is out of range of your phone or turn of your phones Bluetooth. This may help the kindle find your fitbit.

I don't own a fitbit, no one in my household does. I had no fitbit application on my phone. I tried resetting all android notification settings to default. No effect. I tried switching all notifications off manually. No effect.

Next I tried downloading the fitbit app. I started it, paused it when it was trying to link to my fitbit, as I don't have one. I then when to android app settings and hit "force stop" for the app. No effect.

I noted that, when my phone's bluetooth scans for devices, it does pick up a Fitbit Versa 2, as a device available for pairing- but only sometimes. I may have owned a Fitbit, 3 or 4 years ago, but I can't imagine it laying in a drawer somewhere, causing this. Its battery would be dead by now, and I'm guessing the Versa 2 is a newer release.

The reason is likely your neighbor has a Versa 2, charged, that has not yet setup properly. Your phone sense it via Bluetooth and suggest you to pair it to your phone and prompting to install the necessary app that in this case is Fitbit (it is a feature of Android, nothing strange here).

The device probably does exist, somewhere nearby. When my phone (and desktop computer) scan, they sometimes locate it, as a device available for pairing. That said, how it could keep doing this to my phone is a mystery. ff782bc1db
