As you can see from above, the highlight and focus point of the poster is the double image of Teddy, most specifically focusing on the cracked and fragmented image of his face in the shattered mirror.

I had two ideas within my head of howto create this particular effect, the first being trying to break the mirror and get the raw image of what I wanted to achieve, however I knew this would be pot luck and extremely difficult to re-create well, however I still attempted it.

3. Next I placed a phillips screwdriver head in the center of the mirror and lightly tapped with a hammer, alternating each side of the mirror, in order to begin to weaken the out shell, meaning when it broke, it would hopefully crack, rather than shatter.

5. The next step in order to restore the mirror, was to measure the diameter of the mirror, and set a compass to this specific length. I then drew this size circle onto a piece of thick card, in which I then carefully cut out and stuck on the back of the mirror in order to re-enforce it, meaning that more broken mirror would not fall through. Due to one side breaking into smaller pieces, this was the side I covered in card, leaving me with a open canvas and larger pieces of broken mirror to start re-building what I had just destroyed. I began to slot in relevant pieces of glass that fitted together round the circumference of the mirror, then filled in smaller pieces towards to the center to achieve the desired effect. Once in place I trickled the entirety of the mirror and gaps with super glue to allow all of the resting pieces to be solidified in the new position.

Even though they do semi-portray the effect I was looking to re-create, it is not as aesthetically pleasing as required. Therefore even after all of this, I feel I am going to create the broken mirror effect on Photoshop, and once again distort the face using the computer software.

Suddenly the mirror locked up, and the curtain doesn't look good either. I set the camera to B and switched between Auto and Manual (as adviced in previous threads), but nothing happens. It seems to be totally destroyed for some reason.

Hard to tell much from those photos. It's possible the mirror rebound foam is gummy and the mirror is literally stuck. Before attempting to pry it down, first examine the light seals around the film door edge, especially at the hinge. If they feel gummy and sticky, the mirror rebound foam is probably also in bad shape.

When you say the shutter curtain doesn't look good, are you referring to the odd mottled grayish white texture visible on the front with the lens removed and mirror locked up? If so, that's normal. That's what the OM-2 series and OM-4 series shutter curtains look like. But, again, I can't see anything clearly wrong from your photos, which appear a bit blurry and soft with a lot of flare (I'm guessing webcam photos?).

i just bought a second brand new pair of batteries and nothing changed. I set the mirror down manually, it definetely wasn't stuck. I don't know what to do with the curtain. Is it possible that the curtain is stuck ?

We start with Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Double Portrait painting, examining different parts of the image and then focusing on the mirror detail within the picture. In that mirror, we see the reflection of the artist and then the back of the couple.

That is a beautiful way to start a film. The original title of the film is Trompe l'oeil, which is an artistic term for the highly realistic optical illusion of three-dimensional space and objects on a two-dimensional surface.

Dream-like (on purpose?) atmosphere and logic. I am not 100% sure I understand everything going on here, nor am I sure that i am supposed to. This film is creepy and gorgeous to look at. Mondo Macabro nails another deep cut yet again!

Evocative visual feast. Every frame of The Broken Mirror is completely mesmerizing, drenched with artistic style and a captivating use of mirrors throughout. Also, a pretty stellar cast and a strong thematic-narrative are completely worth mentioning

Like the Jan van Eyck painting that opens the film, The Broken Mirror is a visually rich, austere, enigmatic work. Set primarily within a large, beautiful home that, despite being lavishly decorated, seems to reverberate with silent, empty loneliness and secrets.

Amber Fox-Martin is a historian, documentary filmmaker, production and stage manager. Amber studied at Stellenbosch University, where she graduated cum laude in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in drama. She majored in stage management and theatre studies, as well as history, which she studied with intention of developing research in the field. She furthered her studies the following year by completing her honour's in history in 2019. Under the mentorship of Professor Vivian Bickford-Smith, Amber created her thesis documentary film, A Feast in Time of Plague, which earned a cum laude grading premiered at the 22nd Encounters South African International Documentary Film Festival in August 2020. Amber was awarded her Master of Arts in History in 2023, creating a sequel documentary-thesis, Reflections in a broken mirror. This research earned a cum laude.

Since 2016, she has worked as a freelancer in the entertainment industry in the capacity of venue technician, sound operator, venue manager, production manager, assistant stage manager and stage manager for various productions. By 2019, she was employed by the Adam Small Theatre Complex as a stage manager and administrative assistant. Amber has worked as an ad-hoc lecturer at the Stellenbosch University Drama Department teaching sound and stage management in 2020 and 2021. Throughout 2020, Amber also worked as an intern for South African History Online, co-ordinating one of their main projects and fundraising efforts. In 2022, Amber became a director of Attakwa Productions (Pty) Ltd., a female-run production company that focuses on nurturing indigenous narratives and storytelling techniques. The theatre production, and subsequent documentary short, Bientang: bloedspoor/!nau was developed by the company.

This film completes the narrative, reflecting on the journey of these Afrikaans theatre makers in the new South Africa. I felt it would be interesting to engage with the next chapter of history, bringing it up to the present day, with a sense of looking to the future. Reflections in a broken mirror is our ode to the giant talents of South African theatre, while hoping to document a part of our history.

Some public places with many mirrors (sports halls, dance halls, etc.) need to make them as safe as possible. A broken mirror, through impact, explosion or fire, can seriously injure many people. This level of safety is even required by regulation. SOLAR SCREEN mirror protection film is specifically designed to increase the resistance of windows and mirrors, thus preventing injuries from shards of glass.

Thanks to their specially developed adhesive part, safety films provide an additional layer to glass and mirrors. In the event of an impact with an object or in the event of an explosion, they absorb the energy created by the blow and greatly reduce the shock wave. The resistance of the mirror is thus increased.

Once applied, the mirror protection film forms an invisible, strong, and supportive membrane. If the mirror breaks, it holds the broken glass and keeps it in place. A "star" will form with the broken glass, but the shards will not shatter, even in the event of an explosion or fire. This mirror protection adhesive prevents the scattering of sharp edges, thus preserving the safety of people and equipment.

Safety mirror film is ideal for public areas with mirrors (sports halls, dance clubs, exhibition halls, lifts, nightclubs, etc.). It avoids the installation of tempered glass, which is also very robust, but which has the disadvantage of causing unattractive optical deformations.

SOLAR SCREEN adhesive mirror film meets the strictest safety standards. Its fire rating means that the film will burn without creating or spreading flames. It will also prevent the film from shattering under high temperatures.

The mirror protection film is applied to the back of the mirrors on the clear side. The application is very simple and fast. The film is self-adhesive and is applied using the so-called wet gluing technique:

Given the age of the OM-1, it's a fair guess that the only way to get a replacement mirror would be to buy a junk OM-1 with a good mirror, and remove the mirror from one body and transplant it into the other. As you've already found, the mirror is quite fragile, so doing this would be fairly difficult.

Personally, I'd just use it as long as it works, and when/if it dies, decide whether to buy another, or consolidate to a single mount for both the main and backup body. Either way, any but the very most minor of repairs on a film camera is extremely difficult to justify anymore.

Transformers: Broken Mirror is a stop motion fan movie being produced by Crosshairs Productions. The film takes place in a continuity separate from the Transformers: Uprising continuity, permitting more creative freedom. It stars Joe Powell as SG Treadshot, Jewel Barnett as Grace Allen, Max Linden as Kup, Larry Hankins as SG Bumblebee, Drew Merkel as SG Wheeljack and Kick-Over, Matthew Cuff as Cliffjumper, Jason Goodchild as Optimus Prime, and Cedric Houle as SG Optimus Prime. Joe Powell and Max Linden also provide additional voices.

It is unique in that it is one of the first Transformers stop motions to feature characters from the Shattered Glass universe, the protagonist Treadshot is a convention exclusive figure and not Optimus Prime or any other Autobot, and that no regular Decepticons appear prominently during the movie. Broken Mirror also features a unique musical score composed by Michael Jorns and Connor Hickling. The film is not entirely based in the Shattered Glass universe, more akin to a 'crossover' of universes. ff782bc1db
