If the NLE used does NOT use MXF files then the metadata matching works as expected without using metadata retrieval.

Metadata retrieval is the method to rebuild virtual metadata using the information in the file names and in the AAF description field.

I get this is a very old post, but for anyone searching this forum I wanted to post the following. EdiLoad v5 now contains a new assembly window to assemble (conform) your location WAV files. EdiLoad no longer exports a conform reference track and no longer requires the Pro Tools field recorder workflow, it can export an assembly containing the clips for all location channels as a PTX file or AAF file, ready for dialogue editing.

In addition to recording and editing, the process of field recording also involves these skills. Ability to monitor (observe the relevant signals to ensure recording and settings are correct), control levels (correct decibel range and headroom), create neat documentation (handling, annotating, and tagging the recorded material), clean up (cutting out unwanted noises, processing, etc.), and file management.[2]

Typically the work involves recording sound outside of a controlled environment like a studio (field recording is an analog of studio recording), to be used or repurposed as sound effects that get inserted into all sorts of media, such as plays, video games, films, and television shows. A career as a professional field recordist is a tough, but potentially rewarding one. Definitely worth it. Just walking outside and hitting stuff like a trashcan is already fun. Imagine hearing a cool sound on the way to your destination and having that recorder in your pocket (I carry mine almost everywhere).

Now collecting money for a Tascam DR40x.Was thinking of the DR05 but I want to record my mixer outputs and you need attenuation to achieve that in the DR-05.

Speaking of outdoor field recording, how do you guys deal with wind noise? I have some stereo recording headphones (don't remember the brand, Roland CS-10EM I think) and it's more difficult to avoid wind noise than with a noise shield over the integrated microphones of my Olympus LS-P4. My headphones come with foam wind shield but they don't stick well and will probably fall off in no time.

They also tend to pick up the noise of the headphone cable when it scratches my clothes. ff782bc1db
