I switched from apple to Android about 2 years ago now and I don't regret it one bit. I started with a moto G7 power and now I'm using a moto g stylus. One of my favorite things ever is the fact that you can shake your phone to turn on the flashlight, I've always utilized that. Anyway, a couple weeks ago I dropped my phone in the toilet, it was only for a few seconds though.

After I made sure my phone was okay and went about my day, I tried to turn on my flashlight and to my surprise, the trust old double chop did not work. It hasn't worked since. I went onto moto gestures where the setting to turn it on usually was but it wasn't there, so I decided to look it up on YouTube. Sure enough, the option to turn on fast Flashlight has completely disappeared out of the list of my gestures.

Not all Android phones have the option to make their flashlight brighter. To see if yours can, swipe down twice to open the full Quick Settings menu, and then tap and hold the flashlight icon. A slider may appear that lets you adjust the brightness.

You can make the flashlight blink as an indicator for calls and other notifications. Open the Accessibility section of settings, and then check the Hearing area for an option called LED Flash for Alerts. Note that this setting applies to text and app notifications along with calls.

The LED light on the back of your smartphone works better as a flashlight than a camera flash. Low-light photos taken with a camera flash deliver below-average results. A dedicated low-light camera mode produces better results than a small light. That doesn't make the camera flash useless. The tiny light can replace the bulky flashlight in your kitchen cupboard and find your seat in a dark theater room.

There are several ways to turn on the flashlight on your budget Android phone. Some of them are well-known, but you might be surprised by a few mentioned in this guide. Read on to learn more about these methods for turning on your phone's flashlight.

It is likely the default choice since you can access the flashlight from Android's Quick Settings menu. You can access your flashlight by swiping down on your status bar and tapping an icon. To check your phone's flashlight Quick Settings shortcut, do the following:

If you frequently use the flashlight on your Android smartphone, consider placing it in one of your first four tiles for quick access. You can rearrange its location by tapping the Pencil icon.

You can turn the flashlight off from your home screen and lock screen using the At a Glance feature on Google Pixel smartphones. You'll change an option in Pixel Home settings to use the flashlight from your lock screen.

Google introduced the Quick Tap feature to the public with Android 12, allowing you to double tap the back of your phone to perform certain actions. However, it was missing something that many users wanted: a flashlight option.

This method relies on using the previous Google Assistant command. You can also create a button on your home screen to trigger your flashlight. You'll make a custom Block action using Google's Action Blocks accessibility app.

Getting these two flashlight buttons set up and placed on your home screen might look like a lot of work, but it's simple and useful. Arrange both however you want, but the bottom of the screen is a good choice for large Android smartphones.

The other methods for turning on your flashlight are part of the Android system or from Google, but there's a third-party app to check out. Shake Flashlight activates the bright light on your Android smartphone using a simple shaking motion, which might be handy in certain situations. With over 1 million downloads, it has been a popular choice since 2015 for third-party Android flashlight apps. To use this app on your phone, do the following:

Your Android device is more than just a phone, especially when using the best apps the Play Store offers. Now that you've learned the various ways to turn on the flashlight on your phone, try what works best for your needs. You can also combine options to make your own unique method.

Many Android smartphones allow you to open apps or access features using gestures or motions. These actions vary depending on your Android model. Some even allow shake to turn on flashlight gestures. Pretty cool!

You can create a shortcut on your lock screen to easily access your flashlight button. You must have at least an Android 10 version to set this up. And note that some smartphone models might not have this setting.

You can also set the shake sensitivity to make activating it easier or more challenging. However, avoid increasing your shake sensitivity too much, as you might start the flashlight accidentally and frequently.

With all the high-tech wizardry available on modern smartphones, the low-key most practical tool is arguably the flashlight. If you own a Google Pixel model, it's finally easier to turn the flashlight on and off from anywhere.

On Android 12, you can swipe down from the top of the Lock Screen to open Quick Settings and toggle the flashlight switch. You can do the same from your Home Screen or from within any app, but it may take you two swipes or a two-finger swipe if the flashlight isn't immediately visible. If you don't mind talking to Google Assistant, that may be a more favorable way to toggle your flashlight.

Still, both options aren't as convenient as a flashlight should be, all of which have simple on/off switches. Third-party apps like Shake Torch can help, giving you another shortcut to toggling your phone's rear LED, but Google has finally given a more appropriate option with the Android 13 update.

Sometimes, it's easy to forget that your flashlight is still illuminated, like when you're outside in the bright sun or whenever you accidentally turn the light on. To help with that, Google also has its At a Glance feature for Pixels, adding a flashlight notice to it starting in June 2022.

My cheap Yangnuo YN-560iii can keep up with the 11fps of my a6000. You just need to know how many shots you'll take at that rate. That's faster than the flash can recycle at full 1/1 so if you're planning on doing bursts of 5 you can do 1/4 the buffer of the a6000 is 20 shots or so RAW so at 1/32 my buffer fills before the flash runs out of steam. At 1/16 the flash and buffer run out around the same time. Those are all done working off one charge of the capacitor in the flash and don't really have anything to do with recycling speed. If you need to shoot at 1/1 fast and recycling is an issue you can get flashes with Li-ion battery packs but there's really not that much faster if at all than using a flash with quality low self discharge batteries like Eneloop.

Using any flash at a low power setting like 1/4, 1/8 and less AND connected to a battery pack, just about any brand will be fast. But, what are you shooting? This is how most burn out their flashes or they shut down to cool off. And then of course people complain about the flash. They are not built to continually shoot at a fast rate. A few bursts here and there? Fine. But they will heat up after awhile.

The inner diameter is 11cm, and because a rule of thumb is that less than 2% of the inner diameter must be occupied by holes (to maintain enough reflectivity for good integration), I made the entrance hole 30mm diameter. So that is the widest flashlight that it can measure. You can make this sphere with bigger size styrofoam balls and bigger holes, it will even be a better integrating sphere. 2351a5e196
