Custom orders on Etsy are unique items made specifically for a buyer. The buyer can request a custom order by contacting the seller and providing the details of the item they want. The seller can then create a custom listing for the buyer to purchase.

Putler integrates with Etsy and automatically imports all the sales data, including order history, transaction details, customer information, and more. The data is then presented in a visually appealing dashboard that is easy to read and understand.

For sellers, optimizing their shop and listings for search and offering high-quality products are essential for getting more orders. Keeping track of order history and reports can help with record-keeping and accounting.

I recently purchased from a shop and wanted to leave a review as the seller was wonderful and I wanted to say as much. However the product I purchased is not showing up in the purchases tab along with things that I've bought previously and it's been a few weeks since I made the purchase. It's not a huge deal if I can't leave a review but I'd definitely like to say thanks. Do I just need to wait it out or am I doing something wrong? The answers I've found to this problem haven't been helpful either.

My friend is currently experiencing the same problem. I was wondering if you were able to get your problem solved and if so, how? I have the email receipt and number confirming my purchase, but nothing is showing up on the paypal transaction tab.

What would you do if you registered on a site to buy something, only to find months later that your user account was searchable and your purchases were exposed? That scenario is currently playing out for Etsy users, who are dealing with the fallout from Etsy's decision to roll out a new People Search tool. The site, dedicated to enabling crafters and artisans to sell their work online, has yet to notify its user base of the change that exposes users' real names and, via their profile pages, anything they have purchased and left feedback on.

The controversy began last week when Etsy flipped the switch on People Search as part of its effort to make Etsy feel more like a social network. Now, when users run a search for a person's full name, that user's account will show up in the search results, even if that person is only a buyer. The goal is to allow users to connect to each other and create "Circles," which then allow users to see which products their friends have favorited or purchased on Etsy.

Even if users haven't entered their full names, their profiles are still searchable by username. Even better, people's Etsy profiles and their purchase histories (via the feedback they leave) are beginning to show up under Google results for their names. Even if the buyer didn't leave feedback, a seller could leave feedback for the buyer and still expose what that person purchased.

Etsy's seller base has voiced concern that the changes could violate privacy laws, but Etsy has not issued any sort of official response to the outcry. Those who do have accounts on Etsy can remove their real names from their profile pages, and there's also a way to make your purchase history private (Your Account > Settings > Privacy). However, most account holders aren't even aware of the change in the first place, and they're not likely to change their settings without some sort of prompt.

As we mention in the post, people's purchase histories are exposed via the feedback they leave for others, or via the feedback sellers leave for them. Feedback has always been public, but buyers were not previously searchable on Etsy. This new combination, plus Etsy's seeming disinterest in addressing its own community, is what caused numerous Ars readers to send in a tip about this issue.

Rob has responded to an e-mail from me about this article. He writes: "Right, it was the 'mixture of scenarios' [the ability to search buyers and then find their feedback history] that created the situation. In any event, we escalated this issue and addressed it."

Basically I made an order from MVStudioBJD on Etsy on June 9th and it hasn't been shipped yet. The seller has maintained regular communication with me and has been responsive about delays (they say are due to COVID) but the store or any of the items they carried no longer come up when searched for in Etsy, even when I click the links for their store or the item I bought in my purchase history. It kind of makes me worry that they're trying to pull a fast one because I don't see any reason to remove the store from Etsy (if that's how that works.)

If they deleted/closed their shop and you have no way to contact them any longer, I'd file a paypal dispute because you have no way of knowing if they intend to send you your purchase. If the seller did send it, you could either reject the package so it gets returned to the seller or just send the seller the amount for your order. The fact that they just deleted their shop rather than make a post stating they are taking a break from orders is a red flag to me.

You have 180 days from the date of purchase to open a dispute, so you'd be okay for awhile. Honestly if it were me, I'd ask for a refund at this point mainly because of them closing their shop. That just seems suspicious. I had an issue with an etsy seller and waited 3 months for my order even though I paid for EMS. They didn't close their shop though. It's entirely up to you. I'd be cautious that the seller didn't have the item(s) you are trying to purchase in their possession to begin with. Sorry you are going through this. International shipping everywhere is certainly a nightmare, but I'd also be very aware of potential scams.

Yeah, for sure, and thank you, I really appreciate the advice. If this was just some store I bought from I'd never heard of before I'd probably ask for a refund now, but with it being M+V I look at how they've had a successful taobao store and are listed in alice collections and it makes me reconsider. I kind of wonder if this was even an officially made M+V store at this point honestly, it's crossed my mind that it might just be someone trying to make a quick buck by hijacking their name on etsy for a bit.

I sent them a message asking about the store closure and mentioned how suspicious it comes across as, and hopefully they have a good answer. If they don't have a solid explanation for why they did that I'm going to be asking for a refund and potentially getting etsy and paypal involved.

Sorry to hear that. M+V studio makes good clothes; I just usually buy stuff from taobao in bulk so it's cheaper in the long run for shipping. I think the one on etsy is a re-seller. You can probably use a freelance taobao agent or a commercial one like YoyBuy in the future.

I just got a message from them saying they're "having trouble paying the fees on etsy so the store front got put on hold." but that the item was shipped and I'll be receiving a full refund. I opened a paypal dispute but I'll be closing it after receiving the refund.

Yikes, glad you were able to find out the truth! Hope your refund process goes smoothing. I guess that is a heads up for anyone should they try to open their etsy shop back up even under a different name.

Yeah this is just crazy at this point. I haven't open an etsy case because it says I can't request a refund through them and I could only do that through paypal so I just went straight to paypal. I'm kind of hesitant to openly report this person though because I'm not sure if I'm confident enough that this was intended to be a scam to put this person on blast. All-in-all I just want a refund at this point I think. Also I hate confrontation

I told him I wanted all further communication to be done through the paypal dispute and not through etsy messages so we'll see how this goes. I'll give it a couple days and then escalate the dispute if my refund is issued.

I made a large purchase about a fortnight ago from multiple shops and although I got the purchase emails, one of the orders isn't showing on my purchase history.

Luckily Ive now received the item but its still never appeared in the purchase history so its definitely an issue with their site!

Thanks, everyone.

Differing experiences, then!

It is very odd: my purchases history list goes back to 2016. Running to 16 pages (on desktop). The two items at the top of each page (i.e. from different years, and all safely delivered) show up as per norm, both picture and details, but all others are as my original post.

So impossible to revisit for my records. Aaaargh! ff782bc1db
