ESET NOD32 Antivirus, commonly known as NOD32, is an antivirus software package made by the Slovak company ESET. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is sold in two editions, Home Edition and Business Edition. The Business Edition packages add ESET Remote Administrator allowing for server deployment and management, mirroring of threat signature database updates and the ability to install on Microsoft Windows Server operating systems.

In comparative report that Virus Bulletin published on September 2, 2008, NOD32 detected 94.4% of all malware and 94.7% of spyware. It stood above competitors like Norton Internet Security and ZoneAlarm but below Windows Live OneCare and Avira AntiVir. In the RAP averages quadrant between December 2011 and June 2012, Virus Bulletin found that ESET was pretty much at the same level, about 94%, but was noted for its ability to block spam and phishing, earning an award, an award only 19 other antivirus companies were able to acquire.[36]

However, www.newegg.com is indeed selling a NOD32 Gamer Edition: -nod32-gamer-edition/p/N82E16832114557 . Also, the price is not listed and must be specifically requested. I beleive this "NOD32 Gamer Edition" issue was posted about a while back in the forum. Appears newegg.com bought the lot of these licenses and are now selling them for whatever they can get.

Can anybody tell me which entries in Task Manager MUST be kept open to insure full functunality of ESET NOD32 antivirus? I'm sorry, but I'm not very tech savvy and it's all gobbledygook to me. It would help if the names in the Task Manager list were the same as the names of the programs in question, but often they're not.

I could not see a "modules" directory in /var/opt/eset/esets/lib/ . The only directory is data

Neither removing only the *.dat and files in /var/opt/eset/esets/lib/data/updfiles/ (one machine) nor removing everything in lib (other machine) resulted in success.

My directories are structured the same way as those of @Malzahn. That is, I don't have a "modules" directory under /var/opt and the only one there is "data". Nor is there an "esets_update" file under /opt/eset--my files there match Malzahn's. I haven't tried removing any files anywhere.

Hi @Marcos, Your previous suggestions didn't work for me or @Cybertooth as posted by both of us on Friday. We also could not completely execute them, since we don't have an esets_update program. Maybe these instructions are for a different linux software version (e.g. the buisiness version)? We also provided additional information on Friday in case they might be useful. Please advice how to proceed.

The difference is not trivial. The ESET downloads page says that file is version 4.0.90.0 with a filename of eset_nod32av_en_.linux (file size 83.6 MiB), while the program file I already had in the Downloads directory is eset_nod32av_en95.linux (file size 103.9 MiB). Which one should I use when reinstalling?

Hi, I'm trying to access and nod32 (v16.0.22.0) is blocking my access to the site telling me the server's certificate has been marked as untrustworthy and connection is not safe. I've read some of the forum messages and the KB6258 post which suggested to do a few actions.

Hello everyone. I have been using eset products for almost a year both at my pc and smart phone. Lately, I've started to experience kind of weird internet connection issues.

Whenever I start to play an online game, upload a file or whenever more than 3 device connects to my internet network, my internet connection would suddenly drops off for 5 to 10 minutes.

One day my desktop rig stopped connecting totally. As a film editor I have to upload/download enormous size of footages and attend to online meetings with production crew about the projects and I was at the middle one of them so I had to solve this issue quickly.

First I contacted to internet provider so they checked all the connections. That costed me almos 4 days but still they could not find anything. The technician suggested that it might be related to a technical failure of my router so I rapidly bought a new vdsl router and set it up.

Interestingly now I was able to connect internet with my phone and laptop but still I couldn't connect via my editing rig. The difference between my editing rig and my laptop was the eset antivirus. So I tried to disable all the protection/firewall/ scans, basically every piece of protection eset provided me. Nothing changed. I have already tried to reset my network properties at the eset guidelines. I also disabled windows 10 firewall in that process and used provided cmd commands by eset guidelines to fix the issue.

At this point I gave up and delete the eset antivirus and guess what? THAT WORKED. Suprisingly, after that I tried to use my old router and still my internet was perfectly fine!

Eset Antivirus was not only blocking my internet but also messing with my router and dropping off whole internet connection for the other devices!

My disappointment is immeasurable for Eset and my whole workflow for the week is ruined.

So if you are planning to buy an eset product and if internet connection is a vital aspect of your life, please think twice before buying it.

Disabling protocol filtering only gave me a chance to connect internet just before eset starts itself after I reboot my pc. So basically after I reboot my rig if I manage to open my internet browser before eset antivirus starts I was able to connect but once eset's process starts it is gone.

I've had a similar experience with the last two Windows 10 fast-ring insider builds, although in my case it wasn't all connectivity that was lost, just https connections didn't work until I uninstalled and reinstalled. Maybe related. Maybe not. I don't expect eset to do anything about it in my case since I knowingly opted for the fast ring, so anything that breaks is my responsibility to deal with myself.

the problem started this morning, as soon as i started the computer, but yesterday as i close down the computer windows 10 did do an update, so maybe this is a compatibility issue? still if it is you should look into it becuase the problem will prevent any affected users from getting a fix downloaded without uninstalling nod32 first

Does the problem occur with any browser? And with both http and https websites? If so, enable advanced protocol filtering logging in the advanced setup -> Tools -> Diagnostics, reproduce the issue and then pm me the 2 pcapng files from the Diagnostics folder. Also enclose the output from ESET Log Collector as per the instructions at hxxp://support.eset.com/kb3466/.

I have the same problem in a domain environment with Era server, after about 12:00 on 24 Mar 2016, some users started to complain about no internet access on https sites. Can ping sites etc, so tested it on one pc, after eset is uninstalled pc restarted, the https sites work, when installing again and updating, it is again blocking https sites.

but once nod32 had been succesfully installed again the problem didn't occure, i have saved your instructions for what to do, so if it should happen again i should be able to give you those filles right away

Yesterday I bought a two year license for ESET Linux Desktop for Home Users but I am unable to activate the product. I went to the website ( ) as specified in the Email and tried putting in the License Key from the email there but it says that the key is invalid. I tried typing it in myself, with and without the dashes and copy pasting, so i doubt I did something wrong while inputting. All tutorials that I find, mention going to /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic but I do not have that folder structure. If i go to /opt/eset/ there is only an /esets/ folder in there and i was unable to find lic anywhere. Has the lic tool been renamed and the project structure changed or did i do something wrong? I can't even create a log because the Tutorials that i find use the lic tool. Using the tree comman yields the attached output.

While there's things I'd like to see added to eset which have been debated on and off for a while by others, part of the issue is a lot of the complaints of eset not protecting well are made by people who don't know the factors for the issue.

Hopefully this memory leak can be tracked down and fixed or I will be finding a different antivirus app because after 2 days of my computer being powered on ekrn.exe has allocated 2.2 GBs now, just wow.

As the issue is outside our control (the message appears when the problem is detected), there will be no updates from us regarding this I am afraid as there is nothing we could do (we are being broken). One alternative I could suggest would be to consider a better antivirus product as ESET is the only one with this unfortunate 'feature'

Unfortunately, ESET is the antivirus that has best met my needs, as it is one of the only I've tried that hasn't consistently interfered with games and thrown false positives twice a week.

The worst thing an antivirus product can do is bog down the processing speed of your computer. Most users report that ESET did not do this, and when we tried it, our computers were not slowed at all by the antivirus scan. e24fc04721
