In a bleak and nightmarish future, the sadistic governing force known as The Ownership rule with an iron fist. A ragtag band of rebels are the only survivors with the will to oppose them ... until a warrior of the wasteland, Slade, emerges to take up the struggle. Armed with the high-tech weapon of incredible power known as the Equalizer 2000, Slade and the rebels engage in one last stand against The Ownership for control of what's left of civilization.

From retrospective reviews, Claude Gailard wrote in his book on post-apocalyptic films that Equalizer 2000 benefits from "the talents of a muscular Richard Norton" and Robert Patrick in his second film appearance and the presence of Corinne Wahl.[3]

Equalizer 2000 (AKA Defender 2000) is a 1987 action movie directed by Cirio H. Santiago. In a post-nuclear Alaska, which has been turned in a hot desert, a Nazi-style group called "The Ownership" contends for rule over the territory. Disparate groups of rebels try to oppose The Ownership with little success until Slade (Richard Norton) creates a super-power weapon that he calls "Equalizer". The film was made during the height of the popularity of the Mad Max films, and Robert Patrick makes his first screen appearance in this movie.

The titular weapon of the movie, "Equalizer" (it is called "Equalizer", not "Equalizer 2000" in the movie) is based on a Colt Model 653 carbine (most likely Colt/Elisco Tools Model 653P, Philippine license-manufactured version), fitted with an M203 grenade launcher, a pair of overhead shotgun barrels and a pair of bottom mounted missile launchers. The launchers doesn't produce muzzle flash when firing, and the hissing sound is akin to a compressed air blast. The basic version of this weapon is made by Dixon's rebels, then it is improved by Slade (Richard Norton) who uses the weapon with devastating effect. During the following events "Equalizer" falls in hands of Deke (Robert Patrick), then of Lawton (William Steis), and in the final confrontation it is hold by Lawton's second-in-command Hayward (Frederick Bailey) until Slade reclaims the "Equalizer".

In a violent post apocalyptic world there's only one way to get the upper hand. THE EQUALIZER 2000. A weapon so big, so juicy, so devastating that it destroys anyone's face who gets in it's way. You've been EQUALIZED PUNK! Several groups are fighting each other in order to capture THE EQUALIZER 2000. Who will get it? Who will survive? Who will have their faces blasted? Only time will tell! Pkew pkew pkew bang bang! Ahhhhhhhhh!

Like many of the Mad Max wannabes out there, Equalizer 2000 doesn't live up to those lofty expectations even if it is competently made because it's pretty dull. The one saving grace it has in it's back pocket is a commitment to the most childishly amusing MacGuffin. See, Modded Max here gets caught up in a conflict between a violent army of pleather-wearing thugs and a friendly settlement just trying to survive. His contribution: build the BIGGEST and BESTEST gun which kablooies everything. Unfortunately, the mean bad guys steal his big gun, so now he needs to get his gun back and shoot all dey bad guoys befwore dey schwoot all dey gwood guoys.

Love that they're still drinking Colt .45 after the apocalypse. Equalizer 2000 lacks the chaotic panache of my favorite '80s post-nuke flicks but still boasts a thicc surplus of action scenes. The climactic stronghold assault is great and almost pushes it to three stars.

Now this was a treat. Of course Equalizer 2000 is one of many films "inspired by" Mad Max that was produced in the 80s. So putting that aside, of course, to enjoy the film - Equalizer 2000 is a very fun ride!

Equalizer 2000 even gets top billing in the movie! The start of the movie opens up with a loving shot of E2K rotating around against a black backdrop. (I imagined it was rotating magnificently in space like one of those monoliths in 2001: A Space Odyssey.)

We also have a physical store in Knoxville, TN. Here we carry thousands of new and used Blu-Ray, DVD, VHS, Laserdiscs, Vinyl, Collectables, Enamel Pins, Stickers, Patches and so much more. Over 2000 square feet of shopping space.

It's a simple enough plot and it certainly doesn't need any more explanation than that because this movie is amazing. It is literally wall to wall gunfire and explosions. I'm not talking about the kind of action referred to on the back of a modern day "action thriller" DVDs ("A five-star roller-coaster thrill-ride of action and excitement!") that never lives up to its promise. Equalizer 2000 is totally and utterly off the freaking chain EXPLOSIVE ACTION, brought to us by Roger Corman's long time producer Cirio H. Santiago. It's 84 minutes of solid action with numerous firefights, officers in ridiculous uniforms, a few punch-ups, car chases in Interceptor-like cars with spikes stuck to their chassis, cars jumping over chasms, flamethrowers mounted to artillery, a tribe of mountain folk that fire bows and arrows and exploding cars. If that doesn't convince you perhaps the inclusion of the lovely Corinne Wahl as Karen, Slade's love interest in the movie will.

Let's talk about the gun on the cover for a second. I'm sure you are as used as me to covers being ten times more awesome than the contents of the tape or DVD inside; perhaps even the scenes on the cover not even occurring in the movie at all. Not so here. The gun that is pictured above indeed features in the movie. In fact the movie is named after the gun - the Equalizer 2000! It is an almost-complete super-weapon that Slade helps finish in a montage that focuses on Norton's pecs as much as the gun itself. It's a thing of beauty that shoots automatic rounds as well as rockets; a bit like a less-graceful attempt at what Ripley has at the end of Aliens. He then proceeds to lay waste to The Ownership army with it time and time again. It's easily one of my five favourite movie weapons, right up there with the minigun in Predator.

However you do see this movie, make it happen. Stop reading this review and start looking through those thrift stores and eBay auctions now for your very own copy of Equalizer 2000. And thanks to DTVC for bringing it to my attention in the first place.

Slade and Karen provide cover fire so that the Rebels can escape, but with that gun (if given to someone who could aim) I see no reason for this retreat. All it does is allow Dixon and the company to get ambushed by Deke and friends, used as a bargaining tool that forces Slade to hand over the Equalizer 2000, and gets Karen kidnapped. Lucky for her Slade follows them back to their hideout and drops in just before the raping begins. This alone makes the film better than Wheels of Fire as Karen never gets raped in this film unlike a certain Playboy Playmate in Wheels. Hell, Corinne Wahl was a Penthouse Playmate herself and she never even gets naked for this one.

These are the days of futures past as The Cult Film Showdown looks into the World of Tomorrow with Equalizer 2000! This season the team looks at films that took place in a distant future that is now our past! (Trust us, it will make sense).

"The Final War Is Over. The Battle's Just Begun.".A ruthless vehicular gang rules the post-apocalyptic wasteland. That's until a muscled hero named Slade builds the ultimate machine gun - Equalizer 2000, and declares a one man war on the gang's "piece of garbage" leader.mm.

Norton menages to escape using his superior fighting skills but ends up mixed up in another fight when he helps the mysterious and rebellious beauty Karen (Caorinne Wahl). He ends up wounded and she drives him to her village. There they stop the bleeding and effectively save his life.As Slade recovers he plots his revenge. He fixes the legendary Equalizer 2000, gun made of many more guns and by default the manliest thing ever.

We report and investigate the feasibility of zero-overhead laser phase noise compensation (PNC) for long-haul coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (CO-OFDM) transmission systems, using the decision-directed phase equalizer (DDPE). DDPE updates the equalization parameters on a symbol-by-symbol basis after an initial decision making stage and retrieves an estimation of the phase noise value by extracting and averaging the phase drift of all OFDM sub-channels. Subsequently, a second equalization is performed by using the estimated phase noise value which is followed by a final decision making stage. We numerically compare the performance of DDPE and the CO-OFDM conventional equalizer (CE) for different laser linewidth values after transmission over 2000 km of uncompensated single-mode fiber (SMF) at 40 Gb/s and investigate the effect of fiber nonlinearity and amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise on the received signal quality. Furthermore, we analytically analyze the complexity of DDPE versus CE in terms of the number of required complex multiplications per bit.

A multiple-antenna multiple-equalizer (MAME) system for interferencesuppression in some code-division multiple-access (CDMA) indoor wirelesssystems is investigated. The MAME system offers enhanced interferencesuppression capabilities over existing approaches under certain conditions andcan thus increase system capacity. The details of the MAME system arediscussed and the unique features of this work as compared with many otherstudies on space-time processing are explained using spectral correlation anddiversity domain concepts. The effects of the number of antennas, tap spacingof the equalizers, spectral correlation, and diversity domains are discussedusing simulation results. Adaptation performance results are also presentedand a recently proposed quasi-Newton algorithm is recommended for use in theMAME system. Decision-directed equalization results are also studied undervarious conditions and bit-error rate results are presented. Simulationresults illustrate that the MAME system can offer enhanced interferencesuppression capabilities in CDMA indoor wireless systems. ff782bc1db
