Is there a one (or a simple) step process to either email myself, or cut/copy, an entire (like year long) iMessage conversation without having to buy an app/software or to go through and keep marking post groupings through "more" so I can send to my email?

Also, when I log into iMessage from my Macbook, my iPhone messages that predated the purchase do not show up. Even assuming it did, however, I still want to move the conversation out of iMessage so I can paste it into a word doc for posterity.

You cannot do that from the phone. Your best bet is to get a 3rd party application that you can load onto the computer and download the conversation there. WideAngle software has one called TouchCopy that I have used for Windows and I believe it is also supported on Mac. Another is PhoneView. I have no interest in either of these, however I have used TouchCopy in the past and it works quite well. They have a free limited use version, or there is a paid version that has more features.

With the messages in the cloud feature announced (iOS 11.4), will I be able to quickly access the entire thread on my phone? Or will I still have to keep scrolling to the top and waiting for the messages to load?

I bought a software that automatically scrolls in an attempt to scroll to the top of a conversation on iMessage on my iMac that goes back two years. It will take a very long time so I'm wondering: is there another way, without having to scroll to the top of the conversation, to export the ENTIRE two year long conversation from the very beginning to PDF? I know you can select a conversation on the iMessage app on the iMac, then File>Print>Save as PDF but that only does like four pages of conversation (obviously does not go back to the start of two years worth of texts back and forth).

If I click on a particular individual in Messages, and then scroll to the beginning of the conversation, and Select All from the Edit menu, I can then print that entire conversation (including images) to PDF.

Unfortunately, I don't. The conversation doesn't go back to the beginning on my phone, but I believe it does on my iMac. I wonder if there's anything else like iExplorer that can go straight through iMessage on the computer and not after a transfer from another device

i m desperately trying to export one single conversation to a pdf file from iMessage on an iMac. I found many solutions to do it from my iPhone unfortunately it does not work any morse since the software on the iPhone and El Capitan on my iMac are incompatible.

You just select the person's name from the left panel that contains all of the conversation threads. This will not visibly select all of the conversations, but when you select File menu : Print, you will see all relevant conversations shown as pages in the page preview. Then PDF : Save as PDF.

still it wants to print out only the last 4 pages and not the whole conversation. But I found a way to export my whole conversation. How can I sync iMessage conversation on my iMac which runs on El Capitan with my iPhone which runs on the latest iOS ? Both are not compatible that is the reason why I cannot make any backups since april 2018 . If I could I could then export the whole conversation over the app iMazing

I am having the same problem. I am messaging my girlfriend and imessages are getting mixed up between her and her son's phones. They are sharing the same itunes account, but on imessage they only have their individual phone numbers accepting the imessages.I havent found a work around for this. Were yall able to resolve the issue?

This has been a problem for me too! My brother in law and sister have different phone numbers and both have the setting "Start New Conversations From" set to their unique phone numbers. I've opened a bug report for this weeks ago but haven't heard back from Apple yet. I'm checking with my sister to see if they share an Apple ID (for iCloud and/or iTunes). Right now I'm trying to verify if it was fixed in the latest beta build (16A5364a) released 8/23. I deleted the previous conversations and I have two separate conversations appearing in the list right now but I'm checking to see if they merge like they have in the past.

This command will export all the texts in separate HTML files (one per conversation) and you can view these easily in any browser. In the command above, you can replace html with pdf to export to PDF.

To locate these saved files, open Finder on the Mac and press Command + Shift + G and paste this: ~/imessage_export. You can copy these files to an external hard drive or to other backup services.

Hi all,

I use the IOS native messaging app for text messages. On my iPhone XR, which was running the latest iteration of IOS 14. In any conversation, after tapping edit in the top right corner, there was a select all button. By tapping the select all button, I could delete all of the messages in the conversation, without deleting the entire conversation, or going through each message one at a time. This was especially useful for the conversations I had pinned.

I recently updated to an iPhone 13 Mini, which also meant an update to IOS 15. I'm currently using IOS 15.2. The select all button seems to be missing in the messages. Is there a way I can quickly select all of the messages in a conversation for deletion, without going through each message one at a time, or deleting the entire conversation?

Thanks,

Mel

Is there a way to export an entire conversation from iMessage to another format? The conversation I need in iMessage goes back 4+ years so scrolling through it on my IMac and then saving to a PDF is SLOW and just not workable (it took over two hours to just scroll back one year). it is a conversation where I need to reference messages from a few years back and scrolling on my phone or computer takes hours to get back to the earlier messages (and the scrolling tips like taping the time on top of phone screen are not much better...) Is there a way to export it from iCloud (or my iPhone) easily? I back up all my messages to the cloud. Easy step by step instructions would be helpful. Thanks!

So are you saying that the imessages are not stored on icloud even though I have that enabled? Is there anyway to access my messages in icloud? Please explain it like I am a child :). I am not a huge fan of apple products and am much more versed in PC and android...

In the Deleted Items folder, select the conversation that you want to recover, or any message within that conversation. By default, the Deleted Items folder is arranged by date. To change to Conversation view, select Arrange By, and then select Conversation.

Once the Mac Messages app is able to sync with your other devices, all that's left is exporting the desired conversation. This works for iMessage and SMS chats, just make sure the chat has fully synced to begin.

This collection of images and text can be paired with time stamps from the images using "get info" in Finder to verify where they should appear in the chat. While this may be a time-consuming way to export a conversation, it is the safest.

There are apps that promise to export a Messages conversation to PDF on iPhone or iPad, but we urge people to use a Mac if possible. If no Mac is available, seek out a screenshot stitching tool like Picsew that doesn't collect personal data.

For example, Picsew can use screen recordings to create a PDF. Just start a screen recording from Control Center and scroll up an iMessage conversation. Make sure the chat has already been scrolled to the oldest date needed for printing to prevent sync errors in the video, then record and scroll.

The saved recording can then be opened in Picsew and saved as single stitched image of the conversation. Use the save button in the top-right corner to select "Share PDF" to save the PDF to Files, Mail, or another location.

Text messages may carry important information. That's why you need to export or print text messages on iPhone sometimes. But how can you copy an entire conversation on an iPhone? As you may know, there is no built-in feature on iOS devices that allows you to export text messages from iPhone in the Messages app, let alone printing out iPhone messages.

There are three common ways for you to save or export messages from iPhone. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Follow one of the tips below to copy text conversations on your iPhone with ease.

The most straightforward solution to copy an entire conversation on an iPhone is to use iPhone transfer software, such as EaseUS MobiMover. Such a tool helps to export messages from iPhone to computer and save messages conversations as an HTML file. Thus, you can view or print your iPhone texts whenever you want, no matter new messages or old messages. 006ab0faaa
