Suddenly, though, a bottlenose dolphin appears and swims around the player a few times, as if in a playful mood, before vanishing into the ocean. Kat comments on the dolphin's presence, then notes that she as all the data that she needs for the topographical survey, and invites the player to dive at their own leisure.

The player asks her if she plans to leave the Gabbiano, and Kat responds with incredulity, stating that both she and you are "creatures of the sea. That won't change.". She looks back out across the water, and says that she and you can "keep trying to protect this amazing, endless ocean of ours."

Another major change was the addition of a plot, which was purportedly added late into development. This was done to add more direction, as Yamagami recalls the experience being aimless, and that once a plot had been added, there was more incentive to explore the ocean.

I used this method with a plane and it worked for me- not sure if it will work with an ocean.

I created a very large plane which I textured. I set alpha transparency on for the edges of the plane and also set the material to show some arial perspective ( lightening and bluing) on the distance of the plane. I then made sure my sky ground color matched the far distance color of my plane. The transparency in the distance helps to ensure you get a softer transition between the edge of your plane and the small amount of ground that shows before the horizon. I hope that description makes sense. Im sure others have better methods.

If players prefer to dive with a buddy, the Wii's unique WiFi Connection Service allows players to link up with their friends. By exchanging friend codes, two players may dive and explore the ocean together. In this co-op mode, they have access to all the tools that can be used in single player mode, as well as an additional mode of communication controlled with the D-pad. With a fish logbook to complete, items to be salvaged and collected and the ability to listen to your own MP3's via the Wii SD Card slot while you dive, Endless Ocean provides hours of entertainment.

Now about the topic of endless ocean, I don't care, I didn't even know GTAIV had an ocean limit till now, I never bothered to test it, and I never really went that far in SA or VC or anything either, no point all the fun was on the land anyway.

Is it possible that it's actually time based rather than distance? I swear I've died in the ocean before and didnt even travel out for more than 15 minutes. Then again I wasn't actually in a boat at the time..crashed my heli.

I don't understand why this matters. There's going to be nothing "out there". It's just the ocean or the desert. It would have mattered if we had some incentive to go out there and look for something. But that has never been the case.

Actually, I'd be glad if R* does put something out there just for us to embark on an endless hunt to look for it. That would definitely keep us busy and occupied for a significant amount of time after the game is finished.

And trying to get back to liberty city after the Marcos bistro shoot out level but crashing your plane after flying for a hour and crashing in the ocean swimming for what seems like forever then scaling the mountins on the far side of the dessert

As far as I know the ocean in IV was limitless, I used the health cheat in an annhililator every so often, and eventually me and my helicopter just disappeared, but I could still keep going. You disappear after about 4 health refreshes so you really have to go waaaaay out there.

does it really matter? in IV you need about half an hour to get to barrier, thats enormous space i dont know why do you need infinite ocean or deserts it will be fine if they made it same way like in IV

Personally i think this is kind of a stupid part of the game... who cares if the ocean is endless or limited there is no reason to go that far out, HOWEVER if there was an incentive to go out that far like Oil Rigs, Yacht Parties, Fishing etc then maybe but even then it wouldn't matter if it is limited. I have much more fun on land than driving a boat for an hour into nothing.... pointless

If they find a way to add some more ocean activities, then it's all cool. Until then, I wouldn't mind some kind of sea barrier (Giant waves, patrol police boats, whatever that kills you and put you back on land)

Of course, a game will never capture the true beauty of the real thing, but it is a good way for those who can not go themselves to simulate the experience and have an adventure. Whenever there is a new game that explores the ocean floors, I am absolutely on board. Throughout the years, three console games in particular caught my attention.

Abzu is very unique in terms of story. There is no dialogue and leaves room for many different interpretations of what is going on. To put it as best as I can, you are a diver who awakens in the sea. Upon exploring, guided by a Great White Shark, the diver discovers wells that help restore the ocean life and protect it from the strange pyramids found in the sea.

Each game is filled with critters to encounter (it would be kind of weird to have an ocean game without them). There are certain animals seen in each game, as mentioned earlier, a few more including orcas, whale sharks, parrotfish, and sunfish. As well as animals, there are sometimes other human beings to interact with as well!

After leaving from the Realm of Oni and Dragons, the First Spinjitzu Master went to find a new home. Once he did, he found a Realm of a vast ocean that was inhabited by a sea spirit named Wojira, who used her amulets to plunge the world into unending chaos with complete control of the Endless Sea and the violent thunderstorms plaguing it. Allying with Nyad, the first Elemental Master of Water, the First Spinjitzu Master lead an alliance of the Merlopians and the islanders to battle against Wojira that lasted for nine days straight. Making a final stand on the ninth day, Nyad merged herself with the Endless Sea to pry the two amulets from Wojira's head, causing her to fall into a deep sleep while the Endless Sea became calm and peaceful for thousands of years.[5]

Lord Garmadon and the four remaining Serpentine generals fly over the Endless Sea to try to find the Dark Island. After searching all day, Skales pushes Garmadon into the ocean so he can become the new Serpentine leader.

On the first day, Clara Smart and Kira Homola, respectively URI GSO ocean engineering and biochemistry students, guided an exercise to highlight engineering with a focus on instrumentation for oceanographic research. Instructed to close their eyes, walk a certain number of steps, stop, turn and walk back, the youngsters got a firsthand idea of complications encountered in autonomous navigation as it might be applied to a vehicle, robot or other platform.

The activity led to a discussion about underwater navigation and how the principal used for oceanic vehicles is similar to how animals use echolocation, or the use of sound echoes to locate and identify objects.

The next day, a second group of youngsters reached into the water and turned over rocks, seeking sea creatures and shells in a scavenger hunt under the instruction of GSO physical oceanography student Kellen Rosburg. Rabaiotti motioned toward the excitement, saying the experience gave the Times2 students an unparalleled understanding of research not afforded in the classroom.

It's a good thing the fish, seals, penguins, dolphins, jellyfish, sharks, seahorses, whales and coelacanth of Endless Ocean are so exquisitely rendered. All the sea life is as believable and beautiful in its appearance as it is ridiculous in its diversity. (You might just manage to suspend disbelief until a polar bear magically appears on the deck of your yacht. In the South Pacific. In July.) Encountering new species is a moment of genuine wonder and excitement. Sadly, the corals, caves, crevasses and sunken ruins of the ocean floor aren't so varied and pretty. As dreamy as the game looks - all suffused, dappled blue light - the pull to explore every nook and cranny of its underwater world isn't quite as strong as it could be. e24fc04721
