Biblical software or Bible software is a group of computer applications designed to read, study and in some cases discuss biblical texts and concepts. Biblical software programs are similar to e-book readers in that they include digitally formatted books, may be used to display a wide variety of inspirational books and Bibles, and can be used on portable computers. However, biblical software is geared more toward word and phrase searches, accessing study bible notes and commentaries, referencing various modern translations, cross-referencing similar passages and topics, biblical dictionaries, original language texts and language tools, maps, charts, and other e-books deemed relevant to understanding texts from a philological approach.

In 1988, John W. Ellis, M.D. ("Doc Ellis") of Oklahoma City introduced The Bible Library 1.0, the first electronic compilation of multiple Bibles and reference texts. The original CD-ROM contained 9 Bibles and 21 References and was fast and powerful at a time when there were only a couple of slow single Bibles requiring multiple 5 floppy disks.[3]

In 1989, Dallas Theological Seminary produced CDWord: The Interactive Bible Library for Windows 2.x. This application featured a library of English Bibles and scholarly works, including a Greek lexicon, a Bible dictionary, and a commentary.[4] The $595 package required a CD-ROM drive, which most users had to purchase and install separately. In 1991, facing financial shortfalls, the DTS board voted to sell the technology to Logos Bible Software, which incorporated the electronic texts into a new version of its product and still sells them today.[5]

So what is different about this digital bible? This is not an app. It is a pdf file with embedded hot links to navigate the entire bible. It works with a multitude of apps on many devices that support a stylus. Although it can be used without a stylus, it is designed to replicate pen and paper into digital form. It is made to be marked and remarked, highlighted and colored. The creative possibilities are endless and only limited by the device and app you choose to use.

Because the Remarkable Bible is a pdf file, it can be opened on just about any computer or device. However, it is designed to be used with a stylus such as the Apple Pencil on the Apple iPad. When opened in a suitable app that supports pdf linking, the result is a fully writable bible to mark, remark, highlight and draw on. The experience simulates a physical paper version. After the file is downloaded to your device or cloud, it can be opened with quite a few pdf supported apps. Instruction is provided to get the bible installed which is usually very easy and is just a few steps.

Some apps allow two files to be opened side by side. Have The Remarkable Bible on one side and your sermon notes on the other (which was our motivation for making this). I had hard copies of the BKC but wanted to add it to eSword for convenience. These are great conservative OT and NT commentary of the scriptures. I highly recommend adding them to your electronic library for easy reference as needed at Bible Study

The Bible Knowledge Commentary Old and New Testament is a great source of information. I could not afford to buy the books; the electronic version for e-Sword was reasonable for the wealth of information contained in this commentary.

God's Word is so vital to a Christian's Spiritual life. God speaks to us through His Word, it is food to our souls. I agree with you 100% Wanita , The King James Bible is the only authorized bible. Authorized by the King of Kings in heaven , who used King James to authorize it on earth ! The Spirit of God is in the King James . Other bibles omit the blood and change entire verses . I give you a few examples. Read King James verses and compare them to NIV or other bibles . Matt 17:21 , Matt 18:11 , The deity of Jesus, Phil 2:6 , and Luke 2:33 The blood , Col 1:14 People are reading these other bibles and do not realize the are being led astray , even pastors uses quotes from other bibles , because they do not understand ! As the word of the Lord said , my people are being destroyed for of lack of knowledge ! Thanks for posting the truth and May God continue filling you with knowledge and wisdom in His word !

So true!! Nothing like the real thing. Nothing can replace holding the bible in your hands, and reading it. My bible is my life . the digital bible is useful in a pinch but not a replacement for the real thing. The life and meaning that comes from the bible in book form is definitely more alive then in reading it in digital. It will never match up. Prise the Lord for his word in book form.

Good points.. But let me tell you the main reason i use a bible app more than the actual bible. For one you can hold your phone in one hand, laying on your back, side etc and still be comfortable. You can read it at night no separate lights needed. Adjust the font to relieve eye strain. I get terrible neck pains and headaches hunched over for more than 15 minutes. Again a phone can be held with one hand and can be held low, high in the middle etc without any arm strain. Try that with your 1 pound and heaver bible. Your arm will feel like its going to fall off. I say use whatever is most comfortable. Everyone is different. Does not matter how we are fed as long as we are being fed the word.

Get the King James paper bible ! When you read a Spirit filled bible your eyes will drop tears on the pages, and your mouth will give thanksgiving on what you are receiving from the word. Will not happen on an app , plus the Spirit of God has not been experienced in app. ( Not by me anyway , and I doubt if anyone else has .)

List The Bible as the title and use the translation as the version (MLA Style Center). The name of the bible app should follow in italics, then the version (if available), and app publication information.

The version of the bible and books are not italicized but are capitalized like titles (e.g., Bible, Genesis, Old Testament). However, the titles of individually published editions are italicized (The Interlinear Bible).

There is no escaping The Bible. It was the first printed book and perhaps the first electronic book. A transcription of the entire King James Bible was one of the earliest items circulated as what is called shareware. According to the supervisors of the public domain software archive known as the PC-SIG Library, it is not known who typed the entire King James Bible into a series of ASCII files; like the word of God itself, it appears to have emanated from no fixed source.

Packaged as a pocket-book sized computer complete with keyboard and a four line LCD screen, the Franklin Bible allows the reader to either scroll through the text of the King James version page by page or to use its search mechanism to locate a specific string of text. With the Franklin Bible, language skills no longer stand between the believer and the Word of God. It features "phonetic spelling technology" (so "Fare-A-Seas" will still get you to "Pharisees"), a pronunciation guide and word usage notes. There's even a thesaurus in case you can't quite remember whether it was the Sermon on the Hillock or some other inclined landmass.

Not in the form of a CD-ROM, but as a set of electronic books which can be read and linguistically analyzed through the WordCruncher software.
