In May 2020, an update to Microsoft Edge added Surf, a browser game where players control a surfer attempting to evade obstacles and collect powerups. Similar to Google Chrome's Dinosaur Game, Surf is accessible from the browser's offline error page and can also be accessed by entering edge://surf into the address bar. The game features three game modes (classic, time trial, and slalom), has character customization, and supports keyboard, mouse, touch, and gamepad controls.[47][48] Its gameplay has been compared to the 1991 Microsoft video game SkiFree.[49][50]

to fix the problem, go to ccleaner's "options"/"advanced" and, at the bottom, click "restore default settings." after that, when you run ccleaner, if edge is running, you will see a prompt, asking if you want ccleaner to close edge.

as nergal said, another option is to set edge to where it does not have processes running in the background. the same applies to chrome and firefox: set them to where they don't have processes running in the background.

with edge, to stop its processes from running in the background, in edge's settings, go to "system and performance" and, there, turn off "startup boost" and "continue running background extensions and apps when microsoft edge is closed."

you also need to remove the "bing desktop search bar" from your computer-screen, if you have that on your computer, in order for edge-processes not to be running in the background. if the "bing desktop search bar" is displayed on your computer-screen, edge-processes will be running in the background, at least that was the case with my windows 10 computer.

note that, at least on windows 10, using the reg-tweak to disable the desktop search bar is not required. the desktop search bar itself has an option to simply "close" it, and it stays closed, where edge's background processes do not run in the background.

i think that clicking "restore default settings," in ccleaner's "options"/"advanced," would restore the default settings, where you again would see the prompt, asking you if you wanted ccleaner to close "edge."

Hey there, i have done that on a windows 2019 server vdi setup and my Edge (Chromium) starts but dont output any sound and edge is not shown in the sound mixer application but on a edge tab which should playing sound it got the soundsymbol.

I currently have it as an App Layer (Elastic) along with seperate App Layers for Chrome and Firefox. Problems can arise with User Layers if the users are able to update and then a subsequent layer update is made, the msedge exe references the wrong version folder. User Layer repair does not resolve the issue when this occurs.

This is actually getting pretty ugly now, with the latest Windows 10 updates now add Edge into the OS Layer and uninstall is not supported (only presented option is repair presumably as legacy edge is also removed) this means everytime it gets reinstalled you need to rip it out via command line.

I just reboot my system and none of the chromium based browsers except Opera is displaying any content properly. No images would load, I can't even see the new tab properly. Same issue on Wayalnd. I tried restoring from an old snapshot but that didn't help either. I recently installed a few gnome shell extensions but everything worked fine and I have been powering off my computer at least once every 24 hours. I found a month old article where users had a similar glitch with chromium based browsers. I have uploaded two images of google.com and chatGPT.

@gulshiyaa @Massimo_Gatta @Helbling_Steve_SI_BP, yes it is not, but there is a way you can still get it but i would rather you go to and download version 2.4.0 then you can install the edge extension.

Then I copied the exe of my sample application and the library "WebView2Loader.dll" into testing machine, which has Microsoft edge Version 83.0.478.50 (Official build) (64-bit). I got "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND" error, means "Either it failed find the edge installation or version is Not compatible with SDK version". This error is on call CreateCoreWebView2Environment(), which supposed to find browser.

Separate webview2 runtime is not necessary if there is a fully functional Microsoft edge(Chromium). But the stable channel Microsoft edge(Chromium) is not supported by now, as the webview2 is in its preview stage.

If you can't, or don't want to, edit the registry, another option might be to create a sort of "helper" file. Basically, you rename msedge.exe and create a new msedge.exe file that just opens "msedge-original.exe" with the desired flags; this way anything referencing msedge.exe hits your custom file, which in turn runs Edge with the desired flags.

I have tested with the official 'Roaming Profile support' for Microsoft Edge ( -us/deployedge/microsoft-edge-on-premises-sync) but this is too limited for most customers, since this will miss many important settings like cookies and also requires a (roaming) profile associated with the AD account.

You can get the new Microsoft Edge for Windows and macOS today by downloading it directly from microsoft.com/edge. When you install Microsoft Edge on an up-to-date Windows 10 device, it will replace the previous (legacy) version on your device. In some cases, you may be prompted to install additional updates. Your favorites, passwords, and basic settings will carry over to the new Microsoft Edge automatically. Web apps (including those built on EdgeHTML), and Microsoft Edge preview channels (such as Dev or Canary) will continue to work without interruption.

I am testing the new chromium Edge for our organization. From our intranet site, Edge & Chrome will not open file:// links. Clicking on them does nothing. But if I right-click on the link and select "Copy link" and paste into a new tab, it will download/open the file.

Before our application was using google chrome chromium embeds and it was working fine. Recently our dev has started using Edge chromium embed and after that change it stopped picking the CEF objects.

Recently, the demands of high-throughput macromolecular crystallography have driven continuous improvements in phasing methods, data-collection protocols and many other technologies. Single-wavelength anomalous scattering (SAS) phasing with chromium X-ray radiation opens a new possibility for phasing a protein with data collected in-house and has led to several successful examples of de novo structure solution using only weak anomalous scatterers such as sulfur. To further reduce data-collection time and make SAS phasing more robust, it is natural to combine selenomethionine-derivatized protein (SeMet protein) with Cr Kalpha radiation to take advantage of the larger anomalous scattering signal from selenium (f'' = 2.28 e(-)) compared with sulfur (f'' = 1.14 e(-)). As reported herein, the crystal structure of a putative chorismate mutase from Clostridium thermocellum was determined using Se-SAS with Cr Kalpha radiation. Each protein molecule contains eight selenomethionine residues in 148 amino-acid residues, providing a calculated Bijvoet ratio of about 3.5% at the Cr Kalpha wavelength. A single data set to 2.2 A resolution with approximately ninefold redundancy was collected using an imaging-plate detector coupled with a Cr source. Structure solution, refinement and deposition to the Protein Data Bank were performed within 9 h of the availability of the scaled diffraction data. The procedure used here is applicable to many other proteins and promises to become a routine pathway for in-house high-throughput crystallography.

The hyporheic zone (HZ) is a subsurface environment where groundwater and river water mix, causing various physical, chemical, and microbial processes to occur simultaneously. Dynamic river flow conditions can lead to fluctuations in the delivery of oxygen and organic carbon to the HZ, thereby impacting biogeochemical processes and contaminant transport. Despite their importance, these impacts are currently poorly understood. Laboratory experiments were designed to evaluate the effects of variable oxygen availability, mimicking the effects of dynamic river and groundwater mixing processes. The results were used to develop a numerical model that was used to evaluate the relative importance of hydrologic (water flow) and biogeochemical (material transformation) processes on contaminant (chromium, Cr) migration and to predict the effectiveness of the HZ as a barrier to Cr transport into the river environment.

Dynamic hydro-biogeochemical conditions are especially prevalent in highly managed waterways such as rivers controlled by hydroelectric dams. This study provides important insights into the role of the HZ as a region of transition between biological communities for processing contaminants, as well as a natural redox barrier for immobilizing (sequestering) chromium under dynamic hydrological conditions. These results can support a holistic approach to river and groundwater management.
